Happy New Year! 2008 will start off with a literal bang or explosion of seeing clearly, evolutionary, possibly destructive, transformative, oppositional energy as Mars retrograde, talking trash, talking his head off in out of bounds Gemini is in a nasty dirt and rock throwing contest opposite to Pluto at the last and most powerful degree of Sagittarius! Wee-haw!!! We are going to be rocking and rolling on Planet Earth as the New Year arrives!

Mercury, Gemini Mar’s ruler, is in powerful Capricorn. Pluto is currently ruled by Jupiter in Capricorn. That means Pluto can give it back as fast as Mars can dish it out. Not that we think Pluto is any slouch at giving it back. Pluto will catch the clots of earth and wild words coming his way and throw them right back at Mars! Expect earthquakes and eruptions from situations or relationships where the pressure has built up to intolerable levels. Capricorn responds to Saturn in Virgo (Mercury is in Capricorn) right now so the criticisms or words will be accurate, precise, painful, critical, sharp, analytical and to the point. This opposition will be pass number 2 ~ bringing up the unfinished story from around September 21, 2007. Back then, the story was a bit more hopeful. Right now, the story can feel overwhelming and irresolvable. It ISN‘T but it WILL FEEL THAT WAY!! Feelings are not reality! The third and final pass of Mars to Pluto will be on March 7, 2008. Most of the week we will all be feeling or dealing with the harsh Mars/ Pluto energy. And back we go to late September to redo or revisit the decisions we made then on their first pass and opposition to each other.

The best thing to do with this kind of over the top energy is to take some sort of physical action to discharge it. REMEMBER TO DISCHARGE IT CAREFULLY!! It is much more powerful energy than it looks. Clean out closets, get rid of old stuff, empty garages, take inventory, or knock down walls to get ready to renovate. Go to the gym or go walking for miles talking on your cell phone. Avoid or be careful around dangerous situations as they are explosively volatile right now. It is a great set of aspects to let something go ~ so make your resolutions around releasing rather than adding things. The releasing resolutions will take right off! The adding ones will not go well! It is a great aspect to move away from something you don’t want to do any more ~ like smoke or drink or debt. It is a let go kind of New Year.

The other thing we will be working with is Venus’ fiery opening and very Sagittarian square to Saturn in Virgo. Saturn is not doing as well right now as Mars and Pluto are taking his attention and he’s moving backwards, slowly, in Virgo. Think back to the leaving the party energy from last summer when Venus and Saturn danced with each other and Venus flirted with Pluto. Remember those good times. Venus and Saturn joined twice in Leo before agreeing to leave the party together in Virgo on October 13, 2007 and live happily ever after. Well, it isn’t fun right now on the happily ever after front.

Venus is feeling a bit trapped, ugly, old and unloved right now. Money is tight. Debts are big. There is never ending work that feels like it is not going any place any time soon. Venus is not feeling the love from Saturn (or anyone else for that matter). And truth be told, Saturn is taking Venus for granted and being a cranky, rather critical curmudgeon of an old goat. Venus wants to flee or party or play or at least get out more to do more fun stuff. And SATURN! Saturn in Virgo is doing his best but he’s a bit (a lot) depressed plus he’s going retrograde, or backwards, into his bad old bad habits. His knees hurt. His body is old. He’s tired. And he’s very distracted by the argument between Mars and Pluto ~ that is sapping his less than robust energy. Right now Saturn doesn’t have much energy to spare and he‘s not giving any of his extra energy to Venus.

So what to do on a week like this? I am reminded of the India Arie lyrics for Private Party which I always play when I am having a week like the one coming up. I imagine I will be playing her song quite a bit this week.

So, now that you’ve sung happy birthday to yourself, breathe. Breathe deeply. We arrive in this world alone. We leave this world alone. And in between we have the quiet Sunday mornings of our life, when we realize we are alone. Alone is okay. Alone is part of the journey. Alone is part of the process of living. We are not taught how to work with alone very well in our over connected, continually stimulated environment. Alone is a good place this week. Find your joy within.

As always, the universe offers us a solution for the difficult energy presented to us by the heavens. Creation!

Yes, you read that right. Create. Creation! There is a grand trine in earth forming between Jupiter, Saturn retrograde and Ceres. Create something you’ve been itching to create. I don’t care if it is a baking a cake, writing a book chapter, playing a new song, sewing a dress, or painting your walls. I want you to create something that says you are or were here. Make it legal ~ no graffiti on a storefront wall. Make it something that you can point to and say “I did that! I created that!” Your creation can even be a releasing project where you let a bunch of stuff go out of your life to create new space for something else to come in. I want you to feel replenished and rebuilt after you do create. Do not be sad because you read a bunch of old love letters before you released them.

The second solution the universe offers us is to adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. Mercury in Capricorn is approaching an inconjunct to Retrograde Mars in Gemini. That means you can either adjust your thinking (Mercury) or your actions (Mars) but regulate, tinker, modify, alter, fiddle with, fine tune, bend, amend, tweak and adjust one of them you must!

Back to my friends Lisa and Bob from the Venus/ Saturn party last summer. Lisa loves opera, ballet, reading and museums. Bob loves tinkering, puttering, repairing, fishing and doing that man alone in his garage / tool shed thing. When they first got together, Lisa would nag, cajole, or beg Bob to go with her to the ballet or opera. In her happily ever after dreams, her dream man accompanied her to all of the places she wanted to go. However, the opera, theater and ballet were Bob’s idea of hell. Bob did go a few times, to be nice and because he liked Lisa. We often do things we don’t like when we are dating! Now, Bob liked to take off and go fishing on weekends when Lisa was wanting to play with him. Over time and many, sometime heated, discussions, Lisa and Bob figured it out. They both adjusted their behaviors and expectations. Bob goes to one show a year, of Lisa’s choice. She tries to pick a show she thinks he will like. Lisa still buys the series for the ballet, opera and theater but she takes her sisters, nieces or friends to the other shows. Lisa will go and sit with Bob a weekend or two, on his boat, in the middle of the Ohio River. While he is fishing, she reads. Other times Bob goes by himself or with friends and Lisa does her own thing. Do the same with the situation before you. Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. It isn’t hard to do. You have to Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. The universe will help you if you ask for help.

The third thing to do is take advantage of the two lovely mutual receptions in the sky this week. Mutual receptions are when a planet finds itself in another planet’s favorite sign. The two planets have a special kind of communication which takes place. They understand each other and what the other wants to do or achieve ~ like when a good friend knows what kind of wine you like and orders it before you get there. Mutual receptions allow you to swap the energy of one planet and replace it with the other planet. The two planets can speak for each other and act on the other‘s behalf. If you think the energy will be easier to work with, feel free to swap the planets. There is a mutual reception between Mercury and Saturn and another between Mars and Mercury.

Swapping the planets means Mercury in Capricorn can take Mars’ place in the difficult opposition to Pluto. Mercury in Capricorn can speak plain, solid truth to Pluto rather than fighting with him. Mercury in Capricorn knows when to keep his mouth shut. Mercury in Capricorn knows when to put in a well placed set of examples or precise words to calm the situation. While Mars in Gemini gets dust in his eyes and blinded by the flying earth clumps, Mercury in Capricorn doesn’t mind having earth thrown at him as he IS earth ~ more earth in the air makes Mercury’s earth pile bigger. So be precise, solid, concise and crystal clear in your communications! Know when to keep silent and when to step in if the dust starts flying in the Mars/ Pluto face off.

Mercury and Saturn in mutual reception mean an enormous amount of cosmic energy is available to you to organize projects and create massive structured to-do lists or systematize your life. Mercury in Capricorn swaps into the grand trine of creation, replacing Saturn in Virgo. You might not be able to get it ALL created right away but you can get it structured and organized. You can start to make or develop a habit to be creating regular and reliable delivery of energy toward your longer term projects. You can create a map of where you are going. Saturn in Virgo wants to be organized but he feels SO out of control and unorganized when he‘s in Virgo ~ the multitude of tasks can feel overwhelming to him. What can you help Saturn focus on right now? What is the most important thing you can do?

Now, once you give Saturn some of the energy of Mercury’s Capricorn, Saturn has a goal and a direction to head towards, a mountain to climb. Once Saturn is focused, he’s happy as he can be. He’s completely content to stay home and work on things and his projects instead of being so depressed. Have Mercury sit down with Saturn. Encourage the two of them to do some work together. You don’t have to do it all at once. Delegate. Decide. Make lists. You do have to organize it. And visualize it. And start off with a manageable chunk. Have Mercury show Saturn how to Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Your current life wasn’t built in a day either. While you have a vision for the next 13 years, you are, right now, focused and sitting in the middle of your current life. Just keep that 13 year vision in the background of your mind. Take regular, repeated actions (teeny, tiny baby steps) to move towards it while you do the rest of the stuff in front of you. Long term, short term, middle term ~ think of them as all different kinds of heights for Saturn to reach for and climb towards. Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak.

Conscious living through Astrology! Mars opposite Pluto and Venus square Saturn provide the energy to move mountains. Get your mind set to go and have an enormous willingness to Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. Make the compromises to get what you want AND be with the folks you love like Lisa and Bob did. Swap the words for the deeds (just for now while Mars is retrograde!) to push the Mars / Pluto energy to a productive place of vision not into a fighting place of he said/ she said. Get Mercury to replace Saturn in the triangle of creation to organize your bigger picture and draft plans. Help Saturn get his focus while he’s heading backwards to his direct station ~ Saturn’s got time to read up on what you want to do with your life over the next few months. So give him reading materials and a copy of your plans.

You aren’t going to get it all done at once. You can make a teeny tiny change in an area of your life and your choices. Those tiny changes move you towards your future and your vision for the next 13 years. Stay aware of what you want to create and do the work in front of you. There is lots of stuff to do! What is the most important thing for YOU to do? And, it is a NEW YEAR! And we are about to have a new generation of Pluto energy when he shifts into Capricorn in a few weeks. So much more fun ahead of us. Ready? Get set. GO!!!

Monday, New Year’s Eve finds Mars moving backwards into Gemini from Cancer. Finally, we aren’t going to feel so whiny and cranky any more. Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. Forward to the Next Year! Venus has an aspect of brilliance with Chiron suggesting we see our loves and desires as sourced within and from our soul’s deepest wound. We see what we need to do to have healing. I love 5^th harmonic aspects as they make it seem that all is possible. While you might not be able to stop your button (or buttons) from being pushed by the folks you meet, you see where and when and how those buttons GET pushed and why you react so much. Quintiles act like large cosmic cotton balls with soothing salve for your wounds and padding for your buttons. Sing India Arie's song again. Have yourself a Private Party of your own to celebrate all you‘ve learned and become over the many past years of your life.

Tuesday, the New Year is here! It is a 1 year ~marking a cycle of brand new beginnings as 2,0,0 and 8 add up to 1! Wee-haw! Mars has a biquintile aspect with Vesta ~ find your family hearth and curl up in front of it! Have fun with your home! Give yourself a ritual before a fireplace or candles to welcome in your resolutions. Remember, letting go is easier than adding right now ~ Saturn and Mars are both retrograde and Jupiter is restricted in Capricorn. So don’t resolve to go on a diet, change your life completely and add an hour of exercise each and every day ~ make your resolutions release changes instead of add changes. Let go of that bowl of ice cream every night. Let go of white foods ~ bread, sugar, pasta. Let go of driving around looking for the parking spot closest to the store entrance (unless it is raining!) so you walk more. Once Mars goes direct at the end of the month you can have as many new add on resolutions as you want (if you really want more). Right now, let go of stuff to go with the cosmic flow! Let go resolutions!

Wednesday Moon is in Scorpio as Mars opposing Pluto perfects. This is a nasty energy if it is poorly used. Back to our lives and our same old, same old, with a high level of cranky thrown in for good measure. Jupiter has a quintile aspect to Uranus ~ there but for the grace of god go you ~ quintiles remind us of the grace in our lives. Count your blessings. Swap that Mars in Gemini out and put Mercury in Capricorn in his place. When folks are arguing or irritated or exploding around you, calmly and quietly say a soft word. Keep your mouth closed. Show up. Do your work. Smile. Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. We partner with things for a reason! What is your reason for partnering with this? Do you see why you are there? Do you see what it gives you?

Thursday, as Saturn squares Juno you might want to reconsider that partnership. Mercury has an aspect of brilliance to the South Node. As I’ve grown as an astrologer, I’ve become more aware of the symbolic energy happening around me. The universe is alive and numinous. It continually speaks to us, if we would only be quiet and take a moment to listen to it. Today is one of those days that the universe will SHOUT at you. Will you listen please? Why are you partnering with things that cause you pain? Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak.

Friday is a crabby, cranky, argue and disagree kind of day. Yes, Moon in Sagittarius is optimistic but a bunch of the planets are in semi-squares, semi-sextiles, sesquiquadrates and seeking to Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. Mercury has a union with Jupiter asking for clarity about what, exactly is going on. Take what you hear today with a grain of salt ~ it is a bit over the top due to all the frustration in the air. That said, remember to Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. Come up with a new way (or a modified way) to approach things. Ask for help!!

Saturn’s day asks us to Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. Yet again! Move the furniture one more time. No! that doesn’t quite fit there! Do you need it? Do you want it? Take down the Christmas decorations and watch how the colorful, decorated house turns back into the plain old regular house. So what is your 13 year plan for your house and your life? Saturn is asking you to partner with Ceres and create something that is nurturing for your soul, even if it is only a cuddly blanket you can reach for when your toes are cold late at night. Make time to nurture yourself today.

Sunday is a busy day! Venus finishes her square aspect to Saturn. Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. Sun sextiles Uranus ~ see how the solution was right there in front of you? Be like Lisa and Bob ~ do your own thing, do your partner’s thing (in moderation and to be fun and pleasant) and keep working on your 13 year plan. Rome wasn’t built in a day. But, if you remember to Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. Then you will find that Pluto and Venus will help you out in creating your dreams.

Often when I do a reading for someone, they will report back that while the reading was technically ‘correct’, some of the events didn’t turn out quite the way they thought they would based on what I had said versus how they HEARD what I said. We filter, based on our beliefs, and apply all sorts of interpretations to the events before us. I know I often look at a set of transits in my chart and anticipate a whole different set of events than what actually appears.

Remember, we bring ourselves, and all of our beliefs, expectations, anxieties, experiences and fears to everything we experience. For today, and maybe tomorrow too, put those things down. Listen to what the universe is trying to tell you. Hear your heart beating. Understand you are here for a purpose. You are a living and breathing incarnation of the heavens at the exact moment of your birth. You are the heavens made live and walking around on earth! That chart of yours was born, with you in the driver seat, to accomplish something! So get working on it! Adjust. Regulate. Tinker. Modify. Alter. Fiddle with. Fine tune. Bend. Amend. Tweak. Get to work with the Universe! Have a wonderful New Year!

Weekly Weather December 24, 2007 

We continue to process all the emotional and profound changes from last week’s sign changes and the previous week’s Jupiter / Pluto conjunction as we enter the quiet vacation and dream week between Christmas and New Years. This week, only Venus changes signs ~ out of possessive Scorpio and into free loving Sagittarius on Sunday. Process, process, process. That is the best use of your time as you move from family function to party to family function. Process. Also Ceres stations to go direct in Taurus. She creates grand earth trine making it a WONDERFUL week to put your stake in the ground for your new future. Set a cornerstone, pour some symbolic concrete or carve a rock with the dates and your dreams. They might take a while to appear but there is creation and magic that happens when mother earth starts to move forward again.

Whenever there are profound planetary changes the universe gives us a chance to integrate them into our consciousness before we move on. Jupiter changed into Capricorn and soon Pluto will enter Capricorn. During this time, we are becoming very aware of how responsible we are for creating our dreams.

There was a very large stellium (line up of planets) in Cancer Capricorn on last week’s full moon. We are going to be working with that lunar exclamation point during the week ahead as the planets separate to go on their respective journeys. Capricorn Jupiter, Sun and Mercury were opposite to Mars and Moon in Cancer.

Pluto was involved even as he stands in the last degree of Sagittarius adding a transformation call to the energy of the week. Six planets were having a conversation across the heavens, so we tend to notice!

Mars and Mercury are out of bounds in Cancer and Capricorn adding a wild energy to the holiday mix and the week. Out of bounds planets in charge of our actions, movement, anger are in face off with communications, cousins and siblings means we can expect unusual behaviors, words or things taking place in these areas during the week. We can expect things that don’t follow the traditional rules of "how things are supposed to be". Out of bounds planets don’t play by the rules as their guide in the sky, the wise Sun, can’t control them. They’ve thrown off his advice.

Whiny and irritated is the norm for Mars in Cancer ~ so when you are feeling whiny or irritated about something, take action to change it. No whining. Step in, take action and help it change. Silent is Mercury in Capricorn’s best strategy. Keep silent. Words are particularly powerful all week long so focus them on what you can change about yourself. No nagging the other guy! Capricorn Mercury creates words that are never forgotten as they can dig a trench in the earth of the soul ~ be VERY careful what you say and silence is suggested. People are very sensitive. And they aren’t sure why (they might not study the sky like you do)

The nodes are very busy this week and have quite a few aspects. Now that the north node is in Aquarius, the community or collective is there for us, IF we look or ask it for help. The collective wants to support the changes we need to make to get our dreams to come true. Take time to speak for the nodes to your various families of choice, of love or of origin about your hopes and dreams for your next 13 years. Get them talking about their hopes and dreams. Point out the December 1994 cycle, November 1981 cycle, October 1968 cycle and September 1956 cycle. Get everyone thinking about the changes that have taken place in their lives over those cycles. Encourage them to dream their dreams for the next 13 years out loud so they can maximize the new cycle before us. Take advantage of the holiday gatherings to focus your various families on their bigger picture too.

All in all, it will be a pleasant if way too busy week. Take time for yourself. Nurture you. Muse on your future. What do you want to build? Where do you want to go? What is of value to you?

Monday, Sun is opposite to Mars, culminating the full moon energy from yesterday. Juno joins with the nodes by declination ~ what we partner with, we create. What are you partnering with? Don’t like it? Change. The concept of partnering is not one we often acknowledge.

We complain that they won’t change. They need to modify or change to fit our needs. Nope, they are not going to change. You can change! That is all that you control ~ You. You control your choices, reactions, reinforcements and corrections of their behaviors. So, if you don’t like the outcome or the situation or behavior of the person or people before you ~ stop partnering with it in the same old fashioned way that you always have. Partner in a new way. Honest. It is that easy.

Tuesday, Christmas! For the most part the aspects are lovely today. One is not so good Mars in whiny, cranky, fight with the family Cancer has an aspect of adjustment with Vesta in detached Aquarius. Get your butt out of the house and go for a walk in the fresh air if you find yourself irritated. Get up and help if you see a situation that needs adjusting or assistance on the home front. We are all looking to change our behaviors in some manner. So help those who always seem to do everything. They are feeling it too.

Mercury and the Sun have lovely aspects asking us to be strategic in how we approach things and all will resolve beautifully.

Wednesday, there are many separating aspects suggesting we all travel home, or move out into the world in a new way. Mars is opposite to Jupiter in Capricorn. They are in mutual reception so swap the planets. You can either feel wAy emotionally over the top and completely out of sorts or be incredibly productive and prolific and competent. Your choice.

Use the energy consciously and wisely.

Thursday has a squabble and kind of stressed out energy to it. Mercury and Pluto and Neptune are mulling around and not being overly clear. Sit with the anxiety or fear or whatever and let it pass. This is one of those days where tears and high emotions can be expected. Things can end today. Or they can become very passionate over something you don’t even get because its been building for a while now. Thank it and move on.

Friday, again with the stressful energy as we have semi-sextiles. These are our cosmic blind spots. We don’t like them. We don’t see them coming. Watch for blind spots! Ceres also stations to go direct so it is time to put the holidays behind us and move onto your future. Ceres is in Taurus. She wants to get busy and build things. Mars is moving backwards towards his opposition to Pluto next week. This is a FABULOUS time to wipe out or get rid of or release the stuff that is clogging your life, closets and bureaus.

Saturn’s day finds us with a pile of aspects including a number of aspects to the nodes. Reach out and touch.

Connect. Contact. Communicate. Get in touch with the folks you’ve lost touch with and who you want back in your life for the next 13 years. What is important to you? Start to work on it today. Take advantage of the nodes to do so. Life is about our relationships. What relationships in your life need a bit of nodal connection to nurture them for the future? Go do it.

Sunday Venus enters Sagittarius as Sun trines Saturn.

We are not taught that we build our lives through our choices and our non-choices. But build them we do.

When I sit across the consulting table or on the phone with someone for a reading and the chart unfolds as a master plan of choices and actions taken or avoided, we both can see how masterful it is. Make a resolve on the eve of New Year’s eve to be conscious of your choices ~ or lack of them too. Just ask for consciousness in the New Year. Conscious makes it much easier ~ even as the magnitude can overwhelm you at times. Settle in and look at the life you’ve built.

What do you want to do? What do you want to change?

Where do you want to spend the next 13 years of your life? Choose abundance and a belief in your inherent personal worth. That firmly in place, reach out to the folks near you and help them with their stuff.

Remember the airline admonition ~ put on YOUR oxygen mask first, then help the children and people around you. What is YOUR oxygen? What makes your breath quicken and heart take a leap? Include more of that in 2008 too!

1:50 Cancer Moon Capricorn Sun

Our robust, family oriented, traditional and conservative Full Moon taking place on Christmas Eve finds a stellium of planets in Capricorn ~ Jupiter, Sun and Mercury opposite to Mars and Moon in Cancer. Pluto is still in Sagittarius but he is part of the stellium even though he is in another sign and adds his voice to the Carols that will be sung this Christmas.

Moon, Mars and Mercury are out of bounds, adding a wild energy to the holiday mix and the full moon. Out of bounds planets in charge of our emotions, mom, home, nurturing, feelings, food, actions, movement, anger, communications and siblings mean we can expect unusual behaviors or things in these areas during Christmas. We can expect things that don’t follow the traditional rules of "how things are supposed to be". Moon, Mars and Mercury are going to be doing their own thing without regard to the desires of other folks.

That is quite all right of course, but depending on where or who you are in the spectrum or line up of the planets, it can be a bit disconcerting. Or VERY disconcerting. Or a bit fun. Or VERY fun. Remember we can each become the planet for other folks (projection) or we ARE the planet in the situation we find ourselves in. So practice keeping track of those 6 planets on the full moon and over the holiday.

In any situation with more than 6 people in the room, someone will be playing each of the parts. Identify who the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Sun, Jupiter and Pluto are in each dynamic before you. Skip around, play other parts and take on other roles. We are all going to be looking for comforting (the Moon loves to be in Cancer) even as the other planets struggle a bit to express themselves in signs they are not particularly found of. So default to nurturing and food (not too much food!) and other Moon stuff for comfort if the going gets rough.

Whiny and irritated is Mars in Cancer ~ when you are feeling whiny or irritated about something, take action to change it. No whining. Step in, take action and help it change. Silent is Mercury in Capricorn. Keep your mouth closed, ‘fermez la bouche’ if you can’t say something nice. Siblings may act like they have a stick up their butt~ ignore them but be pleasant. Communications are NOT clear (earth is muddy) but are practical. Capricorn Mercury creates words that are never forgotten as they can dig a trench in the earth of our soul ~ be careful what you say. People are listening and very sensitive.

Jupiter in Capricorn says there is too much to do ~ and there IS NO WAY you are going to get it all done. Jupiter is not in a flexible sign at all. He can’t move freely. So prioritize what is important to you and focus on that. Do the most important thing. Pluto in the last degree of open your mouth and put you foot in it Sagittarius suggest all parties will be deeper and in darker places than they usually are. Politics, religion and Sagittarian issues are best avoided.

Moon in Cancer is highly emotional and family oriented. Feelings, feelings, feelings are very sensitive, sensitive, sensitive. Full Moons create a tension as we see things we might not have noticed before under the light of the luminous moon. This will be a Christmas of endings or changing traditions. Watch and see if you can figure out what traditions will be changing in your life. A few of your elders might be moving into new phases of their lives ~ expect endings or selling the family house conversations. Your youngsters are not so young ~ expect them to express what they would like in their lives. Change is upon us.

We just started a new 13 year cycle of change with Jupiter’s union to Pluto. Get them thinking about their next 13 year cycle too! The comments will be interesting! Jupiter entered Capricorn a few days ago and Pluto changes signs into Capricorn next month. Now, instead of being ruled by the excess, luck and expansiveness of Jupiter, we are going to feel Saturn stepping in to ask us to be duty bound, accountable and responsible for the choices we make in our lives. Most of us have difficulty with those behaviors even as Saturn in Virgo asks us to follow the rules he lays out. But it is a Christmas holiday of change as we all sit around the family table and know the next 13 years are beginning with this holiday celebration.

There is a lovely grand trine in earth between Ceres in Taurus and Saturn in Virgo and the stellium in Capricorn. Practical activities are suggested combined with a focus on what is the most important thing. That will help you direct the energy of the day. Venus is separating from her square to Neptune so the fogginess and dreams will be clearing up as clarity descends. What does this mean for you practically? Get practical. No, you can’t do everything. But you can make a difference. Start there.

Finally, Pluto and the nodes are talking to each other in a friendly kind of way. While the north node was moving through Pisces, we were forming our new and tentative dreams for our future. Now that the north node is in Aquarius, the community or collective is there (if we look and ask for help) to support the changes we need to make to get our dreams to come true. So speak for the nodes to your various families of choice, of love or of origin about your hopes and dreams for your next 13 years. Get them talking about their hopes and dreams. Point out the December 1994 cycle, November 1981 cycle, October 1968 cycle and September 1956 cycle. Get everyone thinking about the changes that have taken place in their lives over those cycles. Encourage them to dream their dreams out loud so they can maximize the new one before us. Take advantage of the holiday gathering to focus your various families on their bigger pictures too.

Commentary: ‘A Man on a Magic Carpet Observes Vast Vistas Below’ is an image straight out of the “Arabian Nights” stories. King Solomon would tell the wind where he wanted to go, and the carpet rose in the air, landing him in the place he designated. In this Symbol, the ‘Magic Carpet’ can elevate the ‘Man’ above everything going on in his life, making it possible for him to escape problems and fly above and away from them. He is able to see what’s going on from a calm, possibly detached and rather creative state, with his imagination working strongly.

Oracle: Even though you may feel that there are many possibilities open to you, you may be unable to proceed with realistic, grounded plans, leaving you in a state of limbo. It’s important to make sure that you are not somehow disconnected from reality. It may be that some of the ‘Vast Vistas’ that are ‘Observed’ are really only fantasy, imagination or wishful thinking. Commentary: ‘Three Stained-Glass Windows in a Gothic Church, One Damaged by War’ pictures the need to stay strong on every level under the barrage of some type of bombardment. A ‘Church’ is normally a place of safety and refuge, but ‘War’ has broken through its divine barrier and caused ‘Damage’, or some injury, that is much bigger than just a broken ‘Window’. One of the three corners of unity, in this case the one of love, is ‘Damaged’ and compromised by the aggressive warring nature of mankind.

Oracle: With the shattering of the ‘Window’, there is often a loss of faith, hope and trust. One may have previously felt safe in the confines of their life and suddenly a “bomb hits”, breaking and demolishing some aspect of their usually safe and secure life. Weekly Weather December 17, 2007

Gonna be a big week on Planet Earth! Get ready!!! Cause HERE IT COMES! There is LOTS of planetary turbulence to kick start our next 13 years of life! It’s a two page week ~ meaning I have two pages of aspects that my computer suggests I write about. And not they are not any old baby teeny tiny kind of aspects either! These are decent sized, pay attention kind of aspects!

We have FIVE, count them, FIVE conjunctions between planets taking place this week ~ not including the moon's conjunctions. Conjunctions promise new beginnings as other journeys come to an end in our life. In order, the new beginnings are Sun joined with Mercury; Mercury joined with Pluto; Mercury joined with Jupiter on the WORLD AXIS; Sun joined with Pluto; and Sun joined with Jupiter on the WORLD AXIS. All the stuff taking place on the World Axis promises public information that may be a bit shocking or unexpected even as it gives up insights into what has been going on behind the scenes.

As students of the sky, we know when planets change signs in the heavens, we rock and roll down here on the earth. As they move from one sign into another, the old sign has a “shout out” of sorts to say what his or her lesson was all about. We can even get a cosmic pop quiz to see if we were paying attention and learned what we were supposed to learn. That happens more with the “big guys” than the little ones, but the pop quiz is there if you are paying attention with the little ones too. It doesn’t count for as much towards your final grade but it contributes.

When the planet enters the new sign, it takes a smidge or bit of time to adjust to the new energy as we settle into and try to figure out how to work in the new energy. We have SIX, count them, SIX planets/ sensitive points changing SIGNS this week! That is a lot of change! Especially with all those conjunctions taking place at the same time too! Usually we notice if only ONE planet changes signs.

The Karmic Nodes change signs out of Virgo/Pisces water/earth into Leo/Aquarius fire/air to begin a year and a half long journey, repeating where they were 19 years ago. Jupiter changes signs out of fire, mutable Sagittarius into earth, cardinal Capricorn to begin a year long journey, repeating where he was 12 years ago. Mercury enters Capricorn until January 7, 2008, making our speech more concrete and down to earth as Capricorn seeks to build structures high in the sky and in our lives. Vesta enters Aquarius. The Sun enters Capricorn until January 20, 2007 making our vision and solar purpose more concrete and down to earth as it seeks to build structures high in the sky and help us climb towards our ambitions and goals.

Now the Sun and Mercury are normally kind of routine, smaller changes that happen every few weeks or so. We mark them with our seasonal changes. The fact that they are happening while Jupiter changes signs INTO the SAME sign makes them MUCH MORE DRAMATIC! They are going to be fighting for their part of the cosmic drama pie! So expect the holiday season to be full of what are you here for and where do you want to go kinds of questions. It also, for many of us, will mark a kind of ending to our traditional holidays as the recent Jupiter/ Pluto conjunction aspect brings energy to bear on the structures of our families. Children grow up, parents age, grand children arrive, and we find ourselves “leaving home” so to speak ~ those kinds of changes. So be gentle and kind with yourself and others. Not everyone is working on or with the same level of understanding (end of a 13 year cycle, major shifts in the sky, evolution, expansion, change) as you are. While they are FEELING the same energy, they might not HANDLE it in the most appropriate or enlightened manner.

Jupiter entering Capricorn days after his conjunction with Pluto means he‘s ready to get right to work to build the next 13 years of your life. He’s going to barrel ahead, very quickly, moving up to 22:22 Capricorn by early May. He’s got your plans and his buddy Saturn is in practical, tactical Virgo in trine to him. I hope you made up your 13 year vision plan because Jupiter wants to and is going to start building SOMETHING! And you know how Jupiter gets when he has a hammer in his hand and nothing to bang away at!!! He causes trouble all over the place by being excessive and expansive as he roams the heavens looking for things to construct and bang away at. Have a to-do list for Jupiter to-do, other wise you might find yourself or your Jupiter building OTHER people’s dreams or working on projects that Jupiter takes on to keep him and his hammer busy.

Focus on what YOU want to create over the next 13 years and send Jupiter and his happy hammer in THAT direction. Remember you can construct your OWN life ~ or you can construct other lives for other people if you are not paying attention. You can work on both stories at the same time. If you’ve been thinking about what you want to build over the next 13 years, Jupiter will head in that direction with a mild bit of guidance or direction from you. Say, “On Jupiter!” like Santa calls out to his reindeers. If you haven’t been thinking about what you want to build, well, Jupiter is a wild and crazy gassy big guy with a hammer. He very well might build you a closet in the middle of your living room if you go out shopping and leave him alone to his own devices. So give Jupiter some work to do with his hammer. He is ready and raring to go!

The Karmic nodes changing signs for 1 ½ years mark another rite of passage. They’ve been rolling backwards through Pisces and Virgo. The North Node of destiny has been in Pisces calling us towards our new path. Now Pisces isn’t always the clearest of signs so the Universe helped us by sending Saturn through Leo. Saturn in Leo allowed us to get in touch with what we deeply loved and wanted. Saturn was talking to the nodes during the last part of his journey in Leo and as he entered early Virgo. Saturn in Virgo says to you, “Now that you know what you want, let’s make a plan, a to-do list of the cosmic kind, to go and get it or create it for you.” (And tell Jupiter too! He’s working like a crazy hammering fool of a planet until mid-May.)

Of course, at this exact moment, you kind of collapse and go, “Well I absolutely have no idea how to do that!!” You are about to learn how to do that ~ Saturn, our teaching planet, is in the sign of working with you, the cosmic apprentice in building your life, to help you learn how to do it. But more about that later.

The other thing you might want to say to me is “Well, what I want (the perfect job, mate or situation) is right there in front of me but simply out of my reach. And, FURTHER MORE, I can’t get it/ him/ her/ the situation to do what I want it/ him/ her/ the situation to do!” If THAT is the case, you need to PUT DOWN the thing /person / situation you are fixated on and obsessing about. Put it down and stop picking at it like an itchy and bloody scab.

Start to think of it as part of the bad old bad behavior category. It IS tied to your bad old behavior category in some bizarre way which IF you think about your chart you will figure out. Put some cream on that itchy, bloody scab and cover it up with a band aid. From now, until the end of January, please leave that energy and place ALONE. I want you to take all the energy you send towards it and let it flow back into you. Pull your fixation and obsession energy back into you. Then redirect that energy, like you did when you were working at addressing your bad old behaviors a while back, at what you CAN actually DO something about.

They (it/ him/ her/ the situation) are not going to be clear nor even able to move forward themselves until the end of January (at the earliest) when Mars gets moving direct again. And, worse case scenario, it might not be until March when things get cleared up by Uranus or perhaps not even until Saturn goes direct in early May. There is absolutely NOTHING you can do about them or the situation. They are on their own journey. They have to get there themselves. They may. They may not. They might be having a temper tantrum about their life as we speak. They have to do this themselves until they figure out they can ask for help. You, on the other hand, are working on yourself. You are going to be fine. Provided you stop picking at the situation like some bloody and oozy scab you can’t leave alone. Let it heal over. Or get yourself one of those cone heads that vets give animals after surgery so you stop licking and fussing after it.

So back to our nodes and giving them and Jupiter with his cosmic hammer guidance. Of course you don’t have a complete idea of how to do that, how to build your life over the next 13 years. But you do have “friends, groups, hopes and dreams” ~ the 11^th house to help guide you forward. The North Node entering Aquarius, the 11^th house of the sky’s guidance system, says the collective or the group or community or your hopes and dreams are about to start showing up and helping you envision and building your future.

And, you, while it might be hard, HAVE TO LET THEM HELP YOU. We are all interconnected here on planet Earth. No arguing because it isn’t absolutely perfect. No moaning about what you don’t have or how hard your life is. No getting bossy and know it all about all the ways it can’t be fixed. Life is a process. The process is the process. Life can be hard, at times, but it is always a process. There are easier and harder ways to go about things. Get engaged with and work in and on the processes before you. Try out stuff. Work on developing your skills. See a problem in your world, then figure out how to change it so you can move forward to the NEXT situation you get to learn and grow from.

Announce your hopes and dreams to everyone you meet. You will find help and support in the ‘Strangest Places’. Verbalize your 13 year Jupiter/ Pluto plan! Or at least the part of the plan that you know you want right now to every one you see. Get others engaged in helping you create it! Make sure to keep your focus on YOUR hopes and dreams, not the other guy’s hopes and dreams. If you have spare time, you can help them (or loan them your Hammering Jupiter for a bit) but please keep your focus on your hopes and dreams at the same time and build them too.

And last, but certainly NEVER least, Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, stops in the sky and turns backwards to go back to where he was in September 2007. Saturn’s going back to retrieve, redo, restructure whatever he began back then. It wasn’t quite right. It needs a tweak or three. So back to the drawing board. The universe is giving you and Saturn a cosmic do over. Besides, SO much was going on back then you weren’t even really paying attention to your future. You were thinking about other stuff in September.

Saturn stopping the sky will be what most of us notice about the week. Every one notices when he puts the brakes on things. Projects get held up, postponed or cancelled. Hiring freezes happen. Reorganizations take place. Decisions are reconsidered. All part of the process of Saturn assessing where he wants to send his rings of structure to create stuff. Don’t get upset if something gets paused or delayed or deferred. Focus on the OTHER stuff you can do something about. Send hammering Jupiter over to do his bang bang work where he can. Let Saturn go backwards while you move ahead with your other projects that support your next 13 years of life. When Saturn and Jupiter catch up with each other later in 2008, you’ll be glad you spent this time prepping and directing Jupiter towards things that need to be expanded, hammered or built upon. All of it happens for a reason.

Monday the nodes shift into Aquarius and Leo to begin a 1 ½ year journey of connections and creations. Aquarius north node suggests the community and collective will be offering you their help to create your dreams and build your life. Talk to them. Talk up your hopes and dreams. Get them out there where someone can hear them and help you take action. Sun joins with Mercury at the late degrees of Sagittarius while both argue with Ceres retrograde in Taurus. You might not see how it is going to happen right this second but all creation begins with an idea. Can man fly? Is the Earth round? Does the Earth circle around the Sun? Could electricity be harnessed? Once these were all fancies in someone’s brain. People laughed at the idea. You may feel like your idea is a silly fancy too. But look at what those ideas, when they were followed, led to! So follow your fancy. You never know what will happen.

Tuesday Venus has a trine to Uranus bringing unexpected news or information about a situation from last spring. Jupiter enters Capricorn and gets instructions on where to hammer his hammer. Expect cosmic turbulence showing up on earth! Give Jupiter his operating instructions ~ he’s ready to move mountains. He is, after all, in Capricorn. Seemingly immoveable objects begin to imperceptibly shift. Volcanoes, earthquakes and buildings move! The changes are ultimately seismic in nature! No early celebrations but do follow those clues you receive to the answer(s) you need. It is right there if you look for it.

Wednesday Saturn stations to go retrograde. He’s going back to September 15/16 to pick up what he forgot to bring with him on his journey in Virgo. (Saturn was a bit busy and preoccupied with the eclipse of September 11^th.) Or to scrap what he's been working on and start over. Saturn will get back to this degree in the heavens on August 8^th, 2008. In the meantime, Jupiter is ready and raring to go with his hammer and all sorts of fresh, solid, reliable Capricorn energy ~ so send Jupiter off to do stuff and build stuff until Saturn gets back in town. Settle in and work on some of your easier dreams and plans for the next 13 years. You get to work with all the OTHER planets until Saturn turns direct on May 3^rd. Saturn’s not going to be back at this degree of 8:34 Virgo until August. Yes, you read that right, Saturn goes direct on May 3^rd, and gets back to where he is now on August 8^th. With that in mind, what do you and Mercury want to do instead while you wait for Saturn to get back to you? Which of those 13 year dreams of yours are easy to get to work on creating? Start with some of the easy dreams while you are waiting. Mercury is joining with Pluto and able to communicate the big picture while Saturn is back tending to the unresolved stuff.

Thursday is a busy, busy day in the heavens. As I mentioned above, when Saturn stations, we all notice it. Today is the fallout from that and probably a fairly emotional day. While that is happening, remember, you read this column so you can keep your focus when all around you are losing theirs. In addition to the Saturn station reverb, Mercury is aspecting the Nodes offering important connections or information. This is one of those days, I read the papers and record just about everything going on around me. You know how things get blurted out while in the heat of the moment ~ changing forever what your vision of your life is? Such a day we have today.

Mercury enters Capricorn so we won’t forget what we hear today, no matter how hard they might wish we did. Be extra, extra careful with your communications. Mercury joins with Jupiter on the world axis in Capricorn ~ words can go public loud and fast. Please, please note and record what happens in your world today. It will be SO important for you down the road a piece. Vesta enters Aquarius so the Greek Chorus over in the corner of your life is going to be wailing, complaining or commenting (and probably NOT in a very helpful way either but I could be wrong). Focus on your dreams for the next 13 years. Sun joins with Pluto as Venus joins with Neptune by declination ~ our charts call each of us to our destiny, good or bad, based on our actions and beliefs. Examine your actions as well as your beliefs today to see if they are taking you where you want to go. And if they are causing you problems can you put them in the bad old bad behaviors pile for a while? Taurus Moon ruled by Venus in her fall suggests while we might feel passionate, a cool, calm and collected head is advised.

Friday Venus fights with Mars. Well after yesterday, there has to be a fight SOME place. Remember to breathe. Get yourself out for a walk or something to clear your head.

Saturn’s day, Sun enters Capricorn. Mercury and Venus have aspects of brilliance with Uranus and Saturn so now that the heavens have calmed down from the Saturn station and all the conjunctions, what do you want? Life is short. What do you want? Venus has a square to Neptune so tears can take place as you feel a bit alone in the universe. It is a good time to cuddle up with someone you love, even if it is your cat, and settle into a bit of a life review. Think about all the good times. Think about the bad times. Understand they are all to show you, guide you, or help you evolve. Remember to breathe. Sunday, the Sun joins with Jupiter as he argues with Vesta about what has to be done. Face it; you are not going to be able to do it all. So, if THAT is the case, then WHAT is the most important thing? Focus on that most important thing. That will sustain you. Focus. Focus. Focus. Focus on the most important thing. Let that single minded focus guide you.

Mundane: I LOVED that the spy report came out saying there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iran. Iran apparently stopped their nuclear program in 2003. That revelation was immediately followed by a leak that the CIA destroyed their torture tapes. Definitely seems to be major power struggles taking place at the highest echelons of our government! Payback happens. Will the forces of light or dark win? Hmmm. They start a new 13 year cycle too! Stay tuned.

Ta-DA! Trumpets, Drum rolls, cheers and applause!!! Jupiter and Pluto join in the sky this week to create a spanking, sparkling brand new 13 year cycle of evolutionary expansion and change in our lives.

If you think back to those times, you will be able to spot the continuing cycle of evolution that has been taking place in your life. Like all plants and animals, we humans each have beginning, growing, ripening and harvesting cycles. The thirteen years represented by Jupiter and Pluto’s cycle speak to the process of how you and your soul expand. It describes your growth into the world, over repeated seasons and cycles of your life.

In the case of a recent Scorpio client, his life purpose includes working on expanding intimacy, having intense mergers and profound connections in this lifetime ~ he has the Sun in Scorpio! When he was young, his profound Scorpio connections were with animals, Virgo. As he matured, he found a life partner and achieved balance during the Libra cycle. They (he mostly) subsequently raised a Scorpio child during the Scorpio cycle. She’s gone off to college as the Scorpio cycle comes to an end. Now, as the new Sagittarius cycle approaches, he is considering how to expand his life into the next phase of his being and life. Where is he going to find his intense merger needs satisfied, sated, developed and fulfilled over the next 13 years? Those were the questions we explored during his reading.

You too have a similar story unfolding in your chart. Think back on the situation(s) coming to an end or changing in form this year that began back in Dec 1994. Your solar needs, as expressed by your Sun and the Leo ruled house, describe where and how you want to shine in our world and what exactly you are here to do this time around. We need to go forward but are feeling rather overwhelmed by the whole process. We human beings do hate change and having to evolve into our next phase of being even if we know it is time to change and evolve! Life is not “easy”. There is always SOMETHING to learn and grow in.

THEREFORE, if you have desire to indulge or manage to run into some of your bad old bad behaviors, look them square in the eye and say hello! Think of how much you have learned and grown since you have been on earth. Think of what you want for your next 13 years. Take a stroll down memory lane with your bad old bad behaviors. Do you want some MORE of your bad old bad behaviors in your life?

No, I didn’t think so. Still, take a moment to shake that bad old bad behavior’s hand, put your arm around its shoulder and thank it for all that it taught you. You two went through quite a lot together during this life time! You have had your ups and downs together. Yep, you might still want to check in and visit every now and then for old time’s sake. But, truth be told, do you, actually want to LIVE with your bad old bad behaviors again? Ah, but you were so much older then, you are younger than that now!

Monday, Venus asks us to look at what we partner with. Furthermore, Venus asks us WHY we collaborate or partner with it. What about it draws us to it? Do we even like it? There is no right or wrong here, just a deeper understanding. Time to come to an understanding. It does something for us! It gives us something we need (or think we need). It gives us something we want (or think we want). It satisfies something in our being to have it around. Would we be okay if we did not have it? What would our life look like if it were gone? Or if we changed our relationship to it? Or allowed it to be a bit different? Or replenished ourselves, in some OTHER way, by doing something different?

Jupiter Pluto is also about our addictions, obsessions and consuming passions.. That is why your bad old bad behaviors are back. They comfort you. In a kind of weird way, they give you something you lack. You do not actually LACK it but you think you do! Maybe instead of looking at what you lack, look at what you have. Today will be one of those days when the hard parts of our insides are hurting. What is truly YOU versus what the rest of the world wants for you? What do YOU truly want, desire, or need? That is the place to begin to move toward. Ah, but I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now.

Tuesday, Jupiter joins with Pluto to start our new 13-year cycle. Happy evolution! Many happy returns of your Evolutionary impulses! Venus in Scorpio trines Mars moving retrograde in Cancer suggesting a slow start to your evolution. That is perfectly fine! No need to have fast starts. You’ve started. You’ve got 13 years to figure it out. And, you are quite smart and will get it before then! You can’t get away ~ you have to evolve. We all do. As my first astrology teacher used to “you can run but you can’t hide”. Don’t run. Turn to embrace it. Give it a big old hug and a kiss on the cheek. Feel all the complex emotions rolling around in your being. Cry if you need to. Laugh if you want to. Understand what you’d like to create over the next 13 years. Doesn’t that seem like such a nice broad and profound slate of time to work with? A huge empty canvas of creation looms before you! On the very bottom, in the right hand corner of that huge empty canvas, write your name and put a date to it. There, you’ve begun your new cycle! It wasn’t so hard after all. Wednesday the moon is void all day in depressing Capricorn. Saturn rules the Moon. He’s in perfectionist Virgo. Transiting Mercury in Sagittarius is setting off the eclipse degrees from last March, Uranus station in June and September’s eclipse bringing to your mind the stories and experiences from back then. Today might be a day ruled by a few Copious Tears as Venus sextiles Saturn bringing another version of his energy to the front of our consciousness. Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.

Think of today as a graduation day of sorts ~ not taking place in May or June when we expect graduations but right now, in the middle of December when we are supposed to be happy and jolly. We expect tears at graduations! Tears are fine! We are moving into a new chapter of our life as our old chapter wraps up. We are proud. Our parents are proud. Our friends are proud. They are crying. We are crying. Whatever else happens, you will never be living in the dormitory with the same set of people inhabiting the same campus in the same way. BUT you will always be informed, formed, and shaped by the experiences you had. Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.

Thursday is sad day or perhaps a bit depressed as Mercury has a sextile to Neptune. Mercury can feel a bit overwhelmed by all he has to do right now as he is in Sagittarius and the proverbial s*** hit the fan ~ or it feels like it did and no one can find the off button for the darn thing. No, you can’t get everything done. Yes, the world is keeping on keeping on. No you are not in the mood. But ready or not, here you go. Life is like that. Here you are, evolving and you don’t even have time to take a shower and blow out your hair properly. Your job, always, especially during crazy periods like this, is to focus on the stuff that is for YOUR soul’s growth. The rest of the stuff is dressing, distraction and decorations along your soul’s chosen path in this life. Yes, to the person who is having a trauma in front of you, offer some guidance. Help them understand what THEIR soul is trying to evolve to. But don’t lose sight that you are evolving too ! Be kind. Don’t over schedule yourself today. And, if you forget something, not to worry. Friday, Sun lights up Jupiter today by declination as we settle a bit into our new 13 years. Yes, our old life is still there informing our new life but some how, it feels different. The tension seems to have shifted? Or maybe lifted? Or perhaps you are coming to understand the bigger picture of what the heavens are describing for your path? Conjunctions are endings as well as beginnings ~ we humans tend to pay attention to our losses more than our wins. Reframe it as a win. Sun lights up Vesta today ~ parts of us are SO very comfortable with what is familiar. Think about it as if you are going to the gym to work out with a new trainer. You’ll work muscles you didn’t know you had. And the next few days, you are a bit achy, but achy in a good way. That is what is happening to your soul right now. Your soul is being asked to expand and use new parts that might be a bit rusty or out of shape. Your soul is achy and tender. But if you pay attention, your soul is achy in a good way. Remember to breathe. Once you get used to this new evolution, once those muscles of your soul settle into their new routines, you’ll feel terrific! Keep up the moving forward. Slow and steady. Saturn’s day finds the nodes firmly entering into Aquarius and Leo and leaving Pisces and Virgo for the next 19 years. Think back to December of 1987, when the nodes last entered Virgo/Pisces and also to May of 1989 which corresponds to this moment in time as the nodes moved into Leo/Aquarius. There was a change in the direction of your life during that year and a half. A similar, yet more evolved and hopefully more developed change in your life has taken place since June of 2006 and now. New Moon December 9, 2007

17:15 Sagittarius

Our New Moon promise to be a profound and evolutionary beginning cycle for each of us as well as the world. The New Moon takes place at 17:15 Sagittarius. The profound nature of the Moon is described by what ELSE it does. The New Moon sets off, by activating opening square, the eclipse energy from the September 11, 2007 New Moon at 18: 25 Virgo/ Pisces. It awakens, again by activating closing square, the energy from the June 24, 2007 Uranus station at 18:41 Pisces.

Two days after the new moon happens, Jupiter and Pluto join together at 28:23 Sagittarius, squaring by closing aspect the other New Moon eclipse at 28:07 Pisces from March 18, 2007. The fact that Jupiter and Pluto are in the very last degrees of Sagittarius amplify the New Moon’s energy. Jupiter and Pluto are wrapping up a 13-year cycle from December 1994 and starting a new 13-year cycle in two days. Add that beginning/ending energy of the Jupiter Pluto conjunction to the new moon energy and whip in the energy from two major eclipses as well as a Uranus station! That is SO MUCH cosmic stuff rolling around and folding itself into one cute little old lunation! There will be quite a bit going on in our various emotional fronts as well as taking place in our lives. Two eclipses, a Uranus station and a Jupiter Pluto conjunction added to a new moon. How much transformation energy can one new moon take?

When we look at the lunation as a stand-alone chart, we find additional information to back up the enormous promise of brand new and exciting beginnings. First, there is a major stellium of five planets and the midheaven lined up in fiery, changeable and explosive Sagittarius at the top of the chart, cast for Washington, D.C. The pending Jupiter and Pluto conjunction, sits in the 10^th house, joined to the Midheaven, while the Sun, Moon and Mercury are place within a powerful sector of the ninth house. The Moon is out of bounds and moving slowly so emotional events taking place on this lunation will have a direct and inside track to our most primal places and cause profound expansions and evolutions.

Mercury, while approaching, by 4:22 degrees, a conjunction to the Sun and Moon, is also separating from a parallel to the Sun, by 0:05. Mercury is right near the edge of the ecliptic. Furthermore, Mercury is approaching parallel, by 0:17 and 0:38, to Jupiter and Vesta respectively. That makes Mercury operate as if it is combust the Sun and pulls the energy of Jupiter and home and hearth into the mix. According to Devore, Combust Mercury imparts to the mind a capacity for concentration upon what it deems its own destiny but robs it of its receptivity to distracting or diverting influences. That very activated combust Mercury, who is NOT overly happy in Sagittarius, is the ruler of Saturn in Virgo. Saturn is at 8:28, within 6 minutes of his upcoming station at 8:34 Virgo on December 19, 2007. Saturn co-rules Neptune, Chiron and rules Vesta, making them all exceptionally active and responsive to Mercury‘s single minded focus.

Jupiter, in charge of the Sagittarius stellium of planets as well as the Pisces ruled Ascendant and Uranus, is about to merge with the energy of the Lord of the Underworld. Jupiter is the jolly, gassy giant of the zodiac in charge of all things expanding. Pluto is the dwarf ruler of power at the icy edges of the solar system, is in charge of all lurking hidden beneath the surface. Pluto is in charge of Venus in Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio is in a grand trine with Mars, Athena, the North Node and retrograde Mars in Cancer.

Envision Jupiter joining with Pluto as he leads the North Node, Athena, Uranus, the part of Fortune, and the Ascendant as well as Juno, Mercury, Moon, and Sun into the merger. Venus, following Pluto‘s instructions will entice the folks in her grand trine to at least pay attention to the Lord of the Underworld‘s instructions and rulership. They will join the party. Mercury, always easily influenced by the company he keeps, is under the Sun, Moon and Jupiter’s sway. Additionally, Mercury is square to and talking with Uranus and Saturn forming a volatile t-square that shoots the energy into the Gemini areas of every chart.

Additionally, Jupiter and Pluto are separated by 0:23 minutes of time, the same amount of time that Jupiter is separated from the Sun ~ 0:23 minutes of declination. 23 adds up to a 5. The energy of five is involved with the process of risk and experimentation. Fives are captivated by the new, the unknown, and the unexplored. Fives love the challenge of blazing new trails and charting new territory. Fives craves variety, excitement and change. Change is the catalyst for excitement, adventure, diversity, and is the spice of life!

The image I keep getting is this thriving, throbbing, pulsing glob of evolutionary energy coming at us from all sides of the heavens and pushing us to transform and change, transform and change, transform and change! Can‘t you feel it? Can‘t you see it in the people around you?

Of course, we cannot fail to notice poor old retrograde Mars in Cancer over there, all by himself, as the unconscious handle of the bucket of planets pushing us all towards our individual and collective evolutions. Mars is going backwards, out of bounds and WAY, WAY out of control in an emotional, thin skinned, sideways moving, indirect and very sensitive, crabby, cranky placement. Mars cannot stand and fight. Mars wants to skittle away. Mars wants to cry in the corner. Mars might even grab onto something for dear life and hang on until he loses a claw or two. Or perhaps Mars will defend his territory like a cornered animal or crazed mother bear protecting her cub from danger. Mars is not going to be much help during our throbbing, pulsing, transforming and changing evolution other than to make us feel whiny, scared and like we want to pull the covers over our heads. Which, of course, we CAN do! Covers over our heads are a wonderful option (for a bit at least). But eventually you are going to have to get out of your bed and get back into the swing and stream of life. You are evolving, whether you like it or not. So if you are evolving, you might as well make the best of it! Think big picture. Envision the longer term. Focus on the dream(s). Do the Sagittarius part of the chart (it is kind of hard to ignore) and think outside of the box. If you aim for the stars, you might miss, but at least you will have shot your arrow into the air!

Commentary: ‘Tiny Children Playing in Sunbonnets’ is an image that brings to mind childlike, carefree fun in a protective, caring environment. The ‘Children’ are protected from the strong and sometimes fierce rays of the sun by wearing ‘Sunbonnets’. We can assume that their mothers or other carers have put them on for them. They don’t have to worry about sunburn and being exposed to the elements, all they need to do is play. Although they may interact with the other ‘Children’, some may just play their own individual games side-by-side with each other.

Oracle: In your situation, someone may be in need of protection at the moment, and it is most likely for their own good, as long as there is not a sense of being “overprotected” and insulated from having to be responsible for themselves. Without having to worry about complicated details and difficult consequences, the feeling of a sense of security and safety can lead to more carefree and playful moments. Don’t be distracted by efforts being made by others on your behalf, sometimes we need to be shielded by others from harmful elements. However, sometimes we also need to feel or intuit our way through the surface appearance of what’s really going on. There can be a sense of having to keep some emotion, or anger, away, so as not to disturb or frighten others, or ourselves but this may lead to having the “blinkers” on and not seeing life as it truly is. Is there a sense of naivety here and missing the real point of life? Is someone being kept in the dark, or kept from seeing reality? On the other hand, you may need to look after others and ensure that their well-being is at the top of the list of priorities. Approaching this question with a childlike, carefree attitude, whilst all the while keeping a true eye on the situation, will probably bring the message that’s needed. There’s a need to remember to play and have fun.

Keywords: Care taken with small beginnings. Protection or blinkering? Propaganda that hides more severe life realities. Censorship. Innocence. Being treated like a child. Mollycoddling. Sunblocks and sunscreens.

The Caution: Overprotection by institutionalized procedures that can lead to not being able to see the whole picture. “Organized religion” and it’s blinding of society to the true joy within and without. Infantile behavior. Being left in the dark without a clue as to what’s going on. Naivety. Being overshadowed by ego.

Weekly Weather December 3, 2007

A pile of squares, sesquiquadrates and semi-squares, Venus entering Scorpio and Juno entering Sagittarius say our week ahead will be full of action and activity even as we are irritated or a bit stressed while all the action and activity are taking place. We are building to next week’s conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto. It feels like the crazed hustle and bustle before a big event with a great pile of details ~ think major work conference, fashion show or trade show convention. There are tons of things for you to do, not enough time, cranky people and things going a miss or a stray. Mars is still out of bounds, still in a sign he hates and still going retrograde so it seems like every thing that can go wrong might want to go wrong or at least will consider whining to you about their problems. That said, there is also that feeling of rising anticipation about what is coming right around the corner once the plans get finalized, the curtains get hung, the coffee is perked and the final version of the final version of the presentation is finally finalized after last minute edits ~ tada! Jupiter Joins With Pluto next week!

So what to do in a week like this? Well dream big about what you’d like the next 13 years to look like while attending to the mundane hurly burly in your life! Jupiter is joining with Pluto next week to kick off a brand new cycle of expansion and transformation in the late degrees of Sagittarius. In the few years I’ve been writing this weekly column, this will be our first major conjunction of the outer planets marking the beginning of a brand new cycle together! (Take a moment for a brief and sentimental journey down memory lane of Weekly Weather reports!) I am SO excited about our new cycle that I can hardly stand it. The last starting cycle was May 2000, when Jupiter joined with Saturn at 22 Taurus. The cycles before that were when Jupiter joined with Neptune at 27 Cap in January 1997 and then with Uranus at 5 Aquarius in February 1997. These big cycles don’t come around much so being and bearing witness as one kicks off is so very cool!

One of the best parts of astrology, when used to its potential as a guide to living, is to maximize the positive and minimize the negative in our lives. Kind of like a magical make over, the planets, especially at their new beginnings of cycles ~ the conjunctions ~ mark pivotal moments in time when there is a chance or an opportunity to push forward towards what we want with conscious intent and an eye towards our future. When we work with cycles already in process (what we‘ve been doing since I started writing this column), we can adjust and tweak at things already in process. But that is the key, they are already in process. We can redress and tinker with them to our hearts content. But the crop was planted and it is in the process of blooming or growing. What you are doing NOW is finishing up the cycle that began in the December of 1994 and getting reading to start a brand new cycle next week. How cool is that!?

So, with that in mind, think about what sign your Ascendant, Sun and maybe even your Moon are in. Then, use the chart below to figure out which houses you are specifically going to be exploring and working with over the next 12 years. Think too about all the other areas you want to expand, using those houses as your base of operation. First, apply the process to the cycle you are finishing up, the one that started in 1994. For example, I am a Virgo Sun. In 1994, my language (3^rd house) skills were transformed as I learned to speak astrology. My home (4^th house) expanded as it became where I worked. My library grew enormously. I held classes and met with clients at home as my 7^th house (clients, general public) expanded. My Ascendant is Aquarius ~ my career (10^th) transformed from being a computer person to astrologer and I expanded in 11^th house areas (astrology, internet, new age, community) as my 2^nd house income flow changed from corporate paycheck to my own business and my skills at in interpreting a chart expanded. My Moon is Pisces~ my spiritual beliefs, dogmas and writing skills transformed as my career (10^th) expanded to include teaching and writing and personal, individual (1^st) emotional evolution. You can apply the cycle to every planet to see the next area of your life that Jupiter and Pluto are going to wake up.

If you want to get even a bit fancier, find where your Jupiter and Pluto are located in your chart. My Jupiter is in the 6^th house ~ my work, daily routines, habits ~ while Pluto is in my 7^th house ~ my face to face people, relations, and clients. That will further enhance or expand on the information the universe is giving to you.

Now, as nothing in your life ever goes to waste, Jupiter and Pluto come again to help you expand the cycle of your life. There is a new story starting in the house that holds Sagittarius ~ particularly the degrees of 28 Sagittarius. In 1994, the new story began in your Scorpio house. In 2020, the new story will begin in your Capricorn house. It is how we grow and evolve. If you want to go back further in time, in November 1981, the new story was in your Libra house. In October 1968, the new story was in your Virgo house. In June 1956, the new story was in your Leo house.

So please, please, please, take advantage of this time and use it wisely. Reflect on your life. Reflect on what has happened thus far to you in your current journey on Planet Earth. Think about what you want to bring into your life (expand and transform) over the next 13 years of your life. Think about what you’d like in each of your 12 houses ~ go through them systematically. Record it. Write it down. Make a binder and paste photos into sections divided by Houses. Get it organized (use that Saturn in Virgo and Mars in Cancer retrograde!) so the Universe and you can co-create your next life chapter.

Monday, Juno asks you what you want to partner with as she is in the last degrees of Scorpio and joining with the north node of destiny by parallel. Push a bit for what you want to go for. Juno is all about partnering as she defended herself against intruders to her home. Mercury has a square to Pallas so the plan might not work out as you thought it would. Adjust. All the cranky aspects say adjust. Venus sextiles Pluto giving her desire nature a bit of a push as Pluto kind of pulls her into her depths. She‘s willing to work for what she wants. It is about pushing the rock up the hill. Mercury has an aspect of brilliance with Mars about approaches to take to make the job of pushing the rock up the hill easier and more fun. Moon in Libra finds Venus gracious IF a bit impractical and impassioned. Sun has a working aspect with Chiron ~ illumination comes through working it out and figuring it out. Expect understanding. Call a friend and talk if you are not seeing the light. They will help.

Tuesday, Venus is not pleased with Juno’s partnering ideas. Let the girls work it out and go over to help Ceres with the food, nurturing and service energies. Sun has to adjust his approach. No spotlight on the flaws. Gentle illumination please. Sun in Sagittarius tends to put its foot in its mouth. Today even silence, non-committal grunting or smiling will get you in trouble. Mom Earth and the nurturing sides of all of us are feeling rather maxed out, unhappy, under-appreciated and overwhelmed with all that still needs to be done and no one to do it all. Take a moment to dream about the 13 year plan while folding the napkins or doing the dishes. In those quiet moments of silent work, dream your future.

Wednesday, a decent sized void moon starts the day off with a bit of stuff not flowing smoothly. Venus changes signs into Scorpio today, increasing her passion and pushing her energy up a notch. Venus doesn’t much like being in Scorpio as she is sharp tongued for the Goddess of love. The “b” rhymes with witch word will be much in vogue today. If they don’t call you one, you will call them one. Get the annoyance out of you and off into the ethers where it can go bother a cloud. Venus is crabby. Relations are frayed. Again silence, a grunt or a smile can get you into trouble as Venus is looking for an argument. Come up with a strategy for working with her excess energy, if you can. And the best strategy might be for you to go play piano for an hour or two while she stews! Or do something musical and evocative. Emotions are flowing.

Thursday, Mercury has an aspect of brilliance to Neptune as it sees a new approach to take on the home front. I told you to go play piano. Didn’t it help? Venus is finally back in a good mood of sorts. Mercury’s square to Saturn suggests you continue to keep your mouth closed. Whatever you say will be wrong. So listen. Venus is trying to figure out what she wants to do. She’s feeling pushed by Saturn to be perfect in every way and that is just not the way life works. There is no such thing as perfect. There is good. There is good enough. There is okay for now. There might be moments of perfect but that is such an unrealistic way in which to live. Venus is tired out by having to be so darned perfect all the time. Tell her she doesn’t have to be perfect any more.

Friday a loonnnnnng void moon ~ all day in fact. Just as well as you woke up in the middle of the night last night unable to sleep as Uranus squared the Sun. Suddenly, it all kind of makes sense, doesn’t it? See. It was all part of the process. Mercury has a bit of a cranky aspect to Mars ~ again remember Mercury in Sagittarius tends to put his foot in his mouth. Mars in Cancer is cranky, out of bounds, in a sign he hates and moving backwards in the heavens. Why did you even try? Chiron wakes the nodes up as does Juno by joining with them by declination. We are composed of our wounds. Our wounds are what make us who we are. When we learn to ‘partner’ with our wounds and embrace them as our own, we find our life goes so much easier. Banishing the things we are afraid of doesn’t help the situation. Make a note to re-read Where the Wild Things Are and see how it applies to your life. Where's your hot dinner coming from?

Saturn’s day finds Mercury in a much better mood after his adventurous week. Give yourself the gift of friends and laughter. Mars has a working aspect to Saturn so take time to organize and tackle a few outstanding tasks that have been asking you to attend to them. Juno enters Sagittarius, giving her a boost of positive energy and releasing a bit of her jealousy and over the top behavior this past week. Juno only seeks to preserve the order of the existing structure. But sometimes that structure isn’t working for any one (or you) in the way it used to. You will be fine. And what IS your dream for the next 13 years of your life?

Sunday Sun has lovely aspects to think about your future as the new moon in Sagittarius square to Uranus gets you ready to move forward towards your future. Read the new moon report on this site for more information on how to deal with the new moon energy. Venus has lovely aspects to Pallas and even to Chiron. If you look at those wounds of yours as your gifts and redeploy them to serve you instead of carrying them around like a huge burden, it might be a whole lot easier. There is a quote I love by the artist Brian Andrews. The aspects today remind me of it. “This is a giant block of whatever is most difficult for you to carry & trust me on this, you'll carry it more times than you can count until you decide that's exactly what you want to do most & then it won't weigh a thing anymore”
