Full Moon Eclipse

December 31, 2009

Happy New Year!

10:14 Capricorn Sun/ Cancer Moon

The Full Moon Eclipse on December 31, 2009 marks the end of 2009. It offers us an emotional release of the past year. For many people, 2009 was a difficult year as Pluto’s entry into Capricorn became “real” while Saturn’s passage through late Virgo frustrated yet encouraged us to build our responsibility skills as we apprenticed in the land of Saturn.

The full moon lunation also brings up for closure the events of last July when the three eclipses back then opened up a story that you‘ve dealt with over the fall. Now the story from last summer wants to close back up and go to sleep again. Hopefully, you’ve figured out how to handle the situation and are ready to move forward. In some cases, you will be moving forward without the person or situation involved. In other cases, you’ve reached a compromise of sorts and are able to focus on the future and move forward together. In either event, do wrap up, to the best of your ability, the situation so you are clear, clean and open for the next part of your journey.

The eclipse has a Fist of God or Hammer of Thor with Mars retrograde as the handle as well as a Grand Cross with six planets involved in it. The Hammer or Thor ties into the Grand Cross ~ imagine the Hammer banging away with a large Cross tied to its head. There are two Gangs of Three ~ the Jupiter/ Neptune/ Chiron in Aquarius gang that we’ve gotten used to as well as a Sun/ Venus/ Pluto Gang in early Capricorn ~ hanging on the Hammer. No planets in the sky are unaspected so all attention is paid and all of the various planets energies are combined and swirling together in one giant, cosmic connection, pulsing and releasing.

Eclipses offer us powerful energies and moments in time to release or connect or a combination of both. This eclipse, with the Moon in Cancer on the South Node, is an important release around family matters, habits and health issues. The Moon is receiving developmental stress from 5 planets! The Sun says to Moon look at your habits that are rigid and not working for you. Venus says to Moon have you been doing what is of value to YOU or to the other person? Pluto says to Moon have you been aware of the deeper reasons for your choices as well as the triangles or power dynamics you’ve created or entered into? Those three planets are sitting across the sky from Moon, talking to her.

Saturn in Libra is squaring the Moon saying you need to partner with yourself in better ways ~ didn’t you learn this lesson last summer? How can you partner with yourself (or others) in ways that support YOUR emotions and what you are trying to accomplish rather than sabotage them? And Juno in closing square to the Moon says watch for envy or jealousy. Instead of being envious or jealous or defending against it, take action to move yourself further along on YOUR path, not THEIR path. Ignore the envy if you have the emotion swirling inside of you ~ focus on what you want to create for your self. If you are receiving envy, be grateful for it but don’t duck. Name it and move on.

The lunation is a splash chart so you will feel yourself pulled in many directions. Again, focus on what you need to do for yourself emotionally. What needs to leave? What have you finished with? What do you want to release? And, what do you want to position yourself to bring in on the new moon eclipse in a few weeks? Get that project moving on your desk or home ~ you have a couple of weeks to structure it so you can move and take advantage of the New Moon energy.

Mars in Leo as the handle of Thor’s Hammer suggests you will make great progress hammering through old or outstanding issues or projects. So send the Hammer off to bang away at the outstanding issues, projects and paperwork in your life. Get them wrapped up and off your desk, out into the world. File the papers, pay the taxes, figure out the balances due, wrap up the dangling projects and situations. Mercury in Capricorn is precise, partnering, decisive and perfectly balanced in his communication so take advantage of his energy, particularly on the North Node, to move yourself and the papers, communications, outreach and organization forward towards a new structure.

Retrogrades offer us an opportunity to redo the area that they rule. Under this lunation we have both Mars and Mercury heading retrograde. That means four of our 12 houses are up for revision with the eclipse energy. Our Aries and Scorpio planets and houses are affected by the Mars retrograde ~ revise those areas of life. Our Virgo and Gemini planets and houses are affected by the Mercury retrograde. In each case, Saturn in his exaltation sign of Libra is in charge of the energy. Saturn in Libra wants you to partner, as an EQUAL, with the areas he rules. No more subservient or dropping or being less than you are. Stand up nice and tall, shoulders back, with your head up, chest out and arms open to restructure those areas of your life.

You KNOW what is working and isn’t working in your life. Now is your chance ~ all the planets are talking to each other and talking to you. It is time to go for it. GO FOR IT! It won’t be EXACTLY what you want (we have to wait until late Spring / early Summer for that) but at least make a first pass or attempt at revising it and getting what you want out the door. Try to get it to where you want it. Like anything, you will have to work a bit at it.

Finally, Venus and the Moon are both out of bounds under the lunation. Moon out of bounds in Cancer is receiving all that energy from the other 5 planets and can be highly reactive emotionally. Let the tears flow. Let the emotions leave you or pulse around you so you can see them clearly. It isn’t about the OTHER person. It is about what YOU want. They might have represented what you wanted but now, not so much. The emotions are rolling. Feel them. Note them. Let them settle down. What do YOU want? Not what do they want, YOU? They can take care of themselves. You need to take care of YOU right now.

Venus out of bounds in Capricorn, trapped between the Sun and Pluto ~ falling on their midpoint too, is about the purpose, desire and loves of your life. She’s in charge of Saturn right now. Saturn is in charge of just about everyone else in the heavens. Venus in Capricorn wants the excellence in life. She’s ambitious. She’s crystal clear. She’s about value and quality. Focus on the value and quality of what that you desire. Give yourself permission to verbalize what it is. Say it out loud every morning and night between now and the New Moon eclipse in January when you and the heavens are going to line up with Venus to help make it happen.

Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the Sabian Image for the Sun at 11 Capricorn is PHEASANTS DISPLAY THEIR BRILLIANT COLORS ON A PRIVATE ESTATE

Commentary: ‘Pheasants Display Their Brilliant Colors on a Private Estate’ is an image of beauty, color and wealth. It pictures a situation of the enjoyment of life’s luxuries. The ‘Pheasants’ are beautiful as they ‘Display Their Brilliant Colors’. They have long tails and brilliantly colored plumage. People are drawn to their beauty and can be awed by their presence. That they are on ‘A Private Estate’ shows an environment of privilege and security.

Oracle: This can picture going after one’s life goals. Riches, refinement and abundance are everywhere. However, just take care: ‘Pheasants’ can be game birds, so there may be an element of underlying danger. Displays of wealth and beauty can inspire others, but they can also lead to jealousy and begrudging acknowledgments. That this place is pictured as a ‘Private Estate’ signifies that it may need to be protected, and kept ‘Private’. People who don’t belong there may be able to come and visit, but it may be that they’re really invading someone else’s space or privacy. The visitors need to show respect and courtesy and not presume that they can move in and take over. On the other hand, being ‘Private’, this place may not be truly welcoming to people; they may find it unwelcoming and forbidding in some way. There may be difficulty in keeping up with the amount of work that goes into the maintenance of this ‘Private Estate’ it may take a lot of time to look after the house and grounds. Who does the work and who appreciates the luxury? Looking after the lawn and the garden can bring a feeling of improved well-being. Regardless of whether you’re a visitor or an occupant, just going out and looking at the beauty of the place, the plants and the wildlife can heighten your day.

Keywords: Glorious houses and estates. Lawns and gardens. Statues and birdbaths. Peacocks, pheasants, swans, etc. Enjoying the riches the environment offers. Large plots of land. Nature reserves. Game birds. Aristocracy and the ruling elite. Beauty, elegance and grace. Fabulous displays of color. Parks.

The Caution: Foolish disregard of pending danger. Feeling that one has to be “on parade” or else they will be overlooked. Issues of standing out from the crowd. Jealousy and envy through things on display. Luxury and beauty or snobbery that excludes. Showing off. “Do not enter” signs.

Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the Sabian Image for 11 Cancer Moon is A CLOWN IS CARICATURING WELL-KNOWN PERSONALITIES

Commentary: ‘A Clown Caricaturing Well-Known Personalities’ symbolizes someone clowning around, doing impersonations (or taking on other personalities), and putting on a mask. There can be role-playing here, where someone is putting on an archetypal “face” and performing because one must, for some reason. The entire act can be masking what is really going on within them. This can end up obscuring who one truly is on the inside. This can be because it is difficult, or compromising, to let one’s real emotions or thoughts be known. Perhaps there are secrets or information that it’s best for others not to know. The ‘Caricaturing’ can take up time whilst things, or conditions, change for the better.

Oracle: Laughter is often said to be the best medicine and “many things said in jest” may be a useful thing to remember as you relax and get things back on the right track. Perhaps someone is not being real, using masks and play-acting in order to hide what their true emotions, needs or objectives are. Or, they can just be playing the fool when the situation needs a more serious response. This can be acceptable for a while, but, sooner or later, this kind of behavior can end up being both annoying and frustrating. This can also be about the need to see things objectively or from someone else’s point of view. Things may seem exaggerated and blown out of proportion. “Chameleons”, people who act differently around different people, are somewhat hard to take seriously. Are people being true to themselves in this situation? What is really behind the facial expressions and masks?

Keywords: Exaggerated responses. Wanting to entertain. Show business. Trying to be something or someone that one’s not. Putting on a face. Comic performances. Parodies of personalities. Making fun of someone. Clowns and clowning. Life imitating art. Always performing. Irony. Satire. Objective observance. Criticism. Laughter. Caricatures. Cartoons.

The Caution: Being foolish in the face of positive potential. Trying to cover up reality through buffoonery. Being constantly “on stage”. Living vicariously. Inauthentic behavior. Not having the courage to display one’s true self. Putting on a face to manipulate or fool others. Irritating behavior that wears thin after a while. Being the laughing stock.
