New Moon March 26, 2009

6:08 Aries Sun and Moon

The Aries New Moon takes place a bit after noon on the east coast of the United States. Both the Sun and Moon will be joined in the heavens over our heads with a pile of other planets. The New Moon chart features a powerful lineup of planets captured between Venus, moving retrograde in Aries and the North Node of Destiny in Aquarius. Venus and the Node are only 60 degrees (out of 360) apart or 1/6 of the circle. Packed tightly, the planets between Venus and the North Node are the Moon, Sun, and Mercury in Aries, Uranus, the Midheaven, and Mars in Pisces and Juno, Neptune, Chiron, and Jupiter in Aquarius. THAT is a LOT of ENERGY in one spot or section of the chart. Oodles of energy in fact.

The North Node and Venus are sextile to each other and working together to bring enlightenment as well as new beginnings under the light of the moon. They are squeezing all the other planets like a cosmic tube of toothpaste, tighter, tighter and tighter. The cap isn’t screwed on very tight. The toothpaste is pushing against the cap, trying to get it to move out of the way.

Or perhaps a better image is a moving, shaking and bumping can or bottle of soda on a hot day You can’t SEE the buildup of pressure but boy, oh boy, can you anticipate how that soda water will EXPLODE when you open it, very gingerly. Point it away from you!

Pluto is squaring Venus, Moon, Sun and Mercury adding extra tension to the lunation. Venus is moving backwards to have part two of her argument with slowing to station Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto is at the degree of his station in early April. Again, Pluto stations are tense times but square to the lights in a passionate, fire, action taking me first kind of sign ~ hmmm probably going to be lots going on all over the world.

Over on the far side of the chart, opposite the powerful stellium of planets trapped between Venus and the North Node is Saturn. Dear old Saturn in Virgo is in charge of the handle of the bucket shaped New Moon chart. Saturn is bossing Pluto around these days, so think of Pluto as a kind of wing man to Saturn as Pluto squares and aggravates the Aries planets.

I keep getting the image of a pick pocket ~ the distraction or commotion is being caused by Saturn. Saturn is going backwards, so we all are feeling a bit stuck and like we are not moving forward. Saturn is in Virgo right now. He’s about oppress, repress, depress. Saturn’s talking to you and all those planets across the heavens from him. Saturn is pontificating from his platform and going on, and on, and on. Saturn is talking fear ~ fear of loss, creating anxiety, causing tension, focusing you on lack, on how there is too much work, too much criticism, too little planning, and not enough ~ money, love, work, heat, attention, caring ~ not enough. How there seems to be nothing. How you are not feeling appreciated nor particularly loved.

While Saturn’s distracting you with daily stories of gloom and doom, Pluto is setting you up in a power struggle with some one or some thing. Pluto is the guy picking your pocket while Saturn draws your attention to your lacks and fears. Watch for Pluto. If it feels WRONG, it IS WRONG ~ regardless of what Saturn is saying to you about how that is how it has to be this way because of a, b or c.

No, it doesn’t have to be that way. It is a choice to LET it be that way.

We have a choice to NOT let it be that way too.

Remember as long as you are breathing and alive, you have choice.

When we are afraid, we are easily manipulated. Fear makes us compliant. That is what muggers and robbers rely on ~ the unexpected change or the threat of violence/ attack that makes us follow their orders, comply, and not question.

Fear helps us become a victim.

When I was in high school, I read Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl. I go back and re-read it during difficult passages in my life. Published in 1946, Frankl chronicles his experiences as a concentration camp inmate. As a psychotherapist, he studied his fellow inmates as they sought to survive and live through their experiences. It seemed a good book to turn to for quotes to help us through the New Moon ahead as Saturn and Pluto ask us to adjust our lives to the new reality forming in our lives.

"We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."

As we listen to the news and hear the stories of our friends and family going through difficult times, it helps to remember how deeply lucky and truly grateful we actually can be. Look around at your life ~ see the people who love you, the people you love, the simple joy of laughter, flowers, spring, and a child watching a squirrel hurry up a tree in the park.

When you see those things and people, think about what you actually need, AT THIS MOMENT, in your life. Do you have it? What gives you joy? Where do you find your heart pulled? Can you do more of that, that joy, that heart’s desire of yours, each and every day? If you do it, you will find your life has meaning.

Venus’ job is to point out to us what we deeply, deeply want and desire. Her desires help us create the meaning in our lives. Her aspect to the North Node under the New Moon may point out a place where you are NOT GETTING what you want. That said, by knowing the NOT GET, you also know the positive version of that ~ the DO GET or the DESIRE.

Look at who ever you are blaming for NOT doing for you. Take back that projection of yours. They are not responsible to do it for you. They are doing their own life the best they can. You have to do YOUR own life the best YOU can. In that middle space, or as Frankl says "Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."

Choose your response consciously under this New Moon. Pay attention. Choose consciously.

Commentary: ‘A Man Successfully Expressing Himself in Two Worlds at Once’ shows someone having the ability to be versatile and adaptable. 6:32 Pisces Sun and Moon

Our New Moon at 6:34 Pisces starts a cycle that will move us forward. New Moons are new beginnings ~ when they take place in Pisces, they help us articulate our dreams for the future and where we’d like the next “growing season” to take us.

If you think of astrology in its purest form acting as a metaphor for the growing cycles in your life, the Pisces New Moon offers each of us the opportunity to reflect on our lives and where we are before we begin the “new growing season” marked by the Sun’s entry in to Aries, the Spring Equinox or Ingress and the Spring New Moon in Aries. Pisces as the closing energy, wraps up the previous year’s 12 phase growing cycle. Pisces is a “dream” or visionary sign ~ we think about the past year as we drift off to sleep. We dream about the new year soon to begin, fantasize about what crops, flowers and vegetables we will plant, and plot how we will approach the next growing season of our life.

This year, we have a bigger cycle beginning in addition to our regular annual cycle. Pluto entered Capricorn so we are planning, dreaming, envisioning and plotting for the next 16 years. Our meditation this year should include the past developments in our lives as Pluto changed signs from Cancer into Leo in 1938, Leo into Virgo in 1959, Virgo into Libra in 1972, Libra into Scorpio in 1984, Scorpio into Sagittarius in 1995 and now Sagittarius into Capricorn. Think of what area of your life evolved and changed between those time phases 1938 to 1959, 1959 to 1972, 1972 to 1984, 1984 to 1995, 1995 to Now. You are starting another growing season that will run for the next 16 years. Dream your dreams of your future under this New Moon.

The New Moon features an abundance of Air planets ~ a stellium of 7 planets in Aquarius ~ North Node, Jupiter, Mercury, Juno, Mars, Chiron, and Neptune and the pattern seer, Pallas Athena is also in Air. See the larger patterns of your life under this New Moon. Understand how the various larger and smaller growing seasons of your life have brought you to this place and time. A new season begins!

Venus in Aries is focused on meeting and serving her desire nature. She has a vision of what she wants ~ crude, unformed or perhaps not too clear ~ but she knows what it is when she sees it. Aries is a warrior energy. It wants to protect itself as well as protect others. When Venus finds herself in Aries she wants to love or desire in that protective, warrior method. She desires in that manner too. Something is waking up in your being that you deeply desire. The current situation may not deliver it to you but NOW that it is awake, take the warrior energy of the New Moon and go find it! Hunt it down. Grab it for yourself. If you decide, down the road, that you don’t actually WANT it, that is fine. At least notice what it is that you are desiring and wanting and where you are seeking to love or be loved.

Saturn and Uranus are in a duet on this New Moon. Duets mean the two planets only talk to each other and no one else in the chart. Saturn and Uranus are like two lovers slow dancing out on the floor as the bar gets ready to close and the band plays the final number. Listen to Uranus whisper in Saturn’s ear ~ change, change, change. The Moon as well as the Sun’s next conjunction will be with Uranus, the agent of change in our lives. Think about the Virgo and Pisces areas of your life to see where the needed changes can take place. Dream the new vision of your life.

As Pluto is a longer cycle, we are not just planting a few flowers, vegetables or crops. We are being asked to look at the structural changes we’d like to make in our garden too! Time to look at the bigger stuff ~ the bushes and trees that you’ve planted. Time to look at the stuff that has grown all by themselves as nature planted them in your life. Which Trees and Bushes do you want to continue to share your life with?

The New Moon and Sun are opposite Ceres in Virgo, moving retrograde. Ceres loves being in the sign of the baker Virgo as she rules grain. However, she’s moving backwards right now so she’s pulling up things that aren’t to grow any further. Like the gardener pulls out the tree or bushes in late winter when the ground starts to thaw, what areas of your life have a bush or tree that you don’t want growing any more in your life? Now is a great time to pull those plants (or people or situations or things) out of your life. Or, if you want to transplant a tree, it is time to get the new area ready and cleared out for the tree to move to soon. What area do you want to have a new tree or bush growing in?

This is tree pruning time. On “This Old House” last weekend, the tree pruning guy was having a field day chopping off limbs that rubbed, suckers that stole energy, too close too tight branches that would promote mould or mildew. The tree looked amazingly different once they were finished removing the previous years’ growth that while it was productive wasn’t needed any more. What areas of your life need to be pruned and trimmed for the new growing season about to take place?

There is a great deal of fear and anxiety roaming around out in the world right now. Take a good, honest and clear eyed look at your life. Don’t go forward with fear filled eyes. Calm the fear down. Look back to see where you’ve come from. Understand that process of growth. Then recognize you came into the world with the idea that you wanted to live through this time, through these seasons.

If that is the case, what does the larger vision of Pluto in the sign of taking responsibility and being your own authority mean to you? How can you be more responsible? How can you do your Saturn in a productive manner that serves the larger vision of your life’s goals? Dream a bit on that during this New Moon too.

New Moons form families of related lunar phases where the energy repeats over a longer period of time. The dates for this moon family over the next two years are: the opening quarter or test of things begun under the new moon is 11/24/2009; the full moon or complete vision of the energy is 8/24/2010 and the closing quarter or psychological processing is 5/24/2011. Note these dates in your calendar or on the chart from the New Moon for follow up on the dreams and visions created.

So take time on the New Moon to dream a larger vision for you and your life. It is time. Pluto is in the new sign. The growing season begins in a month or two. It will be the first growing season of Pluto in Capricorn ~ planting things for the next 16 years. Forward you go!

Commentary: ‘Illuminated By a Shaft of Light, a Large Cross Lies on Rocks Surrounded By Sea and Mist’ is an image that inspires feelings of chaos and misplaced loyalties. It can feel as though something has been unjustly sacrificed and things have come to nothing. Christ was forsaken on ‘A Large Cross’. The ‘Cross’ can indicate a crucifix and can show the shouldering of faith and hope or trouble and misfortune. The ‘Shaft of Light’ indicates that spiritual and creative help is at hand.

Oracle: There could be a feeling that life has not been “good” enough. Thoughts of helplessness can come from feeling as though one’s life is finished and that all is lost. Perhaps one’s aim was too high and things have came crashing down. Feeling forsaken or used in relationships can lead the awful feeling of the loss of belonging or identity. It may indeed seem that much has been lost, but do we really have to continue to suffer so much? Seeing the positive or the spiritual messages that come in dark moments can shed new understandings that transcend even the most difficult times. New Moon Eclipse January 26, 2009

6:30 Aquarius Moon and Sun.

The New Moon eclipse taking place now speaks to us with an abundance of air and earth energies. Ideas into Form. Word Made Manifest. There are no planets in fire ~ only the lonely South Node is in Leo fire. Two planets are in water ~ Venus and Uranus, joined and suggesting emotions are sudden and seem to come out of the ethers to land on earth in your backyard where they talk to you.

There are a bundle of planets sitting captured between Mars in his exaltation and Venus in her exaltation. Mars and Venus are cooperating and talking with each other, forming a merger of water with earth, softening, encouraging, and coaxing ~ providing a solid strata for our ideas to take root. Mars and Venus create fertile earth, perfect for the ideas, planets and energies captured between them to take root and sprout like grass seed does. We find Mercury, Juno, Jupiter, Moon, Sun, North Node, Chiron, Neptune and Uranus captured between Mars and Venus ~ representing our ideas or hopes for the eclipse energy as they are being nurtured by the eclipse‘s pulse of energy.

Think about grass seed ~you sprinkle the seeds on brown earth. You go away. The dirt looks at you. You look at the dirt. Then, suddenly, all the grass seeds seem to sprout at the same time! So it is with this eclipse. It is a bundle of cosmic grass seed. You are sowing seeds on this one. Sow wisely. Sow consciously. Sow with solid intention.

Mars and Venus both aspect Saturn high in the chart cast for the east coast of the USA. Mars is only a bit past his trine to Saturn while Venus is past her opposition to the ringed Lord of the heavens. Both Mars and Venus experienced frustration or perhaps a loss when they were activated by their encounter with Saturn over the past few weeks. Now, they are free. Wiser and free. Free and wiser. It is time for them to move towards their dream. Wiser as they connected with the Great Teacher. Free as they learned important lessons.

Think back on all the ghosts and people that Mercury has been bringing your way during his retrograde to remind you how far you‘ve come and how far you may still want to go.

Commentary: ‘A Child Born Out of An Eggshell’ shows something being ‘Born’ in a way that was probably never expected; it is ‘Born Out Of An Eggshell’. Alchemists saw the ‘Egg’ as the container for both matter and thought. This led to the concept of the Cosmic Egg or World Egg, a cosmic symbol in many traditions. The vault of space came to be seen as an ‘Egg’, and this ‘Egg’ consisted of seven layers, each enfolding the other, showing the seven heavens or spheres. The Chinese believed that the first man sprung from an ‘Egg’. This image is around us in many ways, from invitro-fertilization to human cloning.

Oracle: This Symbol signifies finding innovative ways of doing things, with new directions and new solutions. Find a unique approach that will give you the ability to find unusual and original paths leading to a new emergence. There’s the possibility of unleashing rebellious energy, so make sure that this beginning doesn’t start off with any precocious or “spoilt” attitudes. In tarot, the World card, is often signified as an egg or oruborus. The World card signifies the completion of a journey as well as the beginning of a new one. Saturn rules the World card to suggest our journey involves discipline, responsibility, concentration, hard work, vulnerability, and perhaps a bit of fear with the goal being resolution of “old karma“. When a child is growing in the uterus, it travels through the various stages of evolution ~ reptilian, amphibian, mammalian and finally is born a human. The stages of evolution are in each of us and course through our DNA.

So dream on this new moon. Create a ritual. Shout out your dreams to the heavens. Follow the soft animal instincts of your body. Love what you love. That is your Saturn. When you do what you love, you are doing your Saturn. When you do what you fear, you are doing your Saturn. What you love and what you fear are why you are here.

It’s a wonderful moon for a ritual of creation, abundance and new beginnings. Take advantage of the considerable energy of the new moon at 6 Capricorn to begin the next chapter of your life or at least have a serious sit down and conversation with the powers that be, your spirit guides, the people in your life as well as your with own soul's desires.

The New Moon takes place at 6 Capricorn a day before Pluto and Mars join to start a new two year cycle and a few hours after Mars entered Capricorn. Mars and Pluto are all about getting what you want so you can evolve into what you are here to become. Mars is the principle of taking action to move towards and obtain what your Sun, soul and Solar life force wants. Pluto is the principle of evolution ~ all species either evolve or they become extinct. Mars and Pluto are both on the world axis so their powers are exceptionally concentrated and focused as well as visible for all to see.

The Sun and the Moon are just past Mars and Pluto, still conjunct but separating, and starting to move toward what they want. The New Moon energy for the eastern seaboard of the United States takes place shortly after dawn and places the Capricorn planets smack on the ascendant of new beginnings and being seen. All the planets, except Saturn, are in the first quadrant, indicating a large clump of energy dedicated to going and getting what you want and need to have your life change and morph into what the next shape is that will help you evolve.

Saturn lives alone on the far side of the chart and he talks with Mercury and Jupiter in Capricorn suggesting you are actually clear, crystal clear, about at least SOME of what you want to take place over the next 2 or 16 years. Saturn's opposition to Uranus nestled at the edge of the third house suggests you even are WILLING to change some of those long held beliefs of yours to get what you want.

Venus joins with Neptune just minutes after the New Moon ~ literally 7 minutes. Additionally, there are numerous sevens involved with the New Moon. Sevens are the number of the seeker or the person who connects back to their soul's path to see where they are going next. Seven is the emotional transition card in Tarot when the person or fool gets the "bigger" picture. Numerous solid patterns ~ seven days, seven visible planets, seven arts and sciences.

We often think of the world as chaotic, standing as we do, looking at it from the limited perspective of our solo mind in our solo body. Inside of each of us, there are amazing systems of order ~ our nervous, muscular, circulatory, limbic, digestive, reproductive, and respiratory that all combine in one unified whole to create the body we inhabit. We live in a unified system that we were able to study when we took biology. We look at the external world as "chaos" from our ordered bodies' perspective and seek to impose some sort of "order" or frame of reference or world view upon the chaos before us.

Sciences, religions, astrology, psychology models and virtually all "framework" systems exist to make us humans feel a bit better about the chaos we see before us. We use the framework systems to impose order on the chaos ~ or to try to. That said, when we fly over settled land, we can see the patterns unfolding of highways and settlements or developments of human beings, all clustered together, in a unified manner. We see the rivers, lakes and streams as well as the hills, valleys and mountains that comprise the geography of the land.

The view from 20,000 feet shows us there IS order out there, if we could but widen or broaden our perspective to see it. If we could apply a seven to the systems we observe and want to see, as our spirit needs to see, we could see the bigger perspective. There IS an order to things, even if WE have trouble spotting it from our myopic world view.

Moving from Pluto in Sagittarius to Pluto in Capricorn, we are seeing a fragment of the 248 year evolutionary cycle of Pluto~ a framework if you will. We are at the end of the phase that began in 1995 and the correcting energy for the excess of that phase for the next 16 years. We are in the midst of imposing a Capricorn order on the excess of the Sagittarius cycle that ended this past year.

We last had this energy in 1760 ~ a long time ago for us humans but not so very long ago for our friend Pluto. And, literally, it all begins again today with the New Moon and tomorrow as Pluto and Mars meet to move you forward on your path and the next two years of evolution and action.

THAT is why it is such a keen and terrific moon to do a ritual on. Your being wants to impose some sort of order on the chaos before you. Mars and Pluto are ready to go and do it. Sun and Moon indicate a new willingness or readiness to do it that wasn't there before.

So gather your ritual tools ~ me I like 4 candles, one for each direction, paper, a pen, my tarot deck (actually the fool, world and magician cards) or images that inspire me to meditate on as I sit quietly and talk with my soul. Some times I add representatives of the elements, air, fire, water and earth to the mix.

Sit quietly with yourself. Light the candles and ask the directions of the universe, east, south, west and north to join you. Then contemplate what you'd like to bring in over the next 2 and 16 years. Two years is the Mars to Pluto cycle as well as the longer Sun/Moon phase cycle. Sixteen years is how long Pluto will be in Capricorn ~ that is your next major evolutionary cycle. What do you want to accomplish or create in those frameworks? What is your dream or vision for your life? What is your heart's desire? What are your rapture, redemptive or inspirational hopes and wishes?

Look, Mars and Pluto, Sun and Moon, Venus and Neptune are all starting cycles within moments of each other. They are planning on new and exciting things for you and each of us. You might as well ask them to pick you up a cup of coffee, a new love, fabulous work you adore or SOMETHING for your next 16 years. It would be a complete shame to waste all that wonderful, delightful energy and not have it be used for anything YOU would like in your life!

With the modern age of communications we are in now, we can receive incredible amounts of information. This can include all sorts of theories and wonders. Our New Moon takes place in the middle of Thanksgiving day, less than an hour after Uranus stations to go direct at 18 Pisces. A New expansionary and visionary Moon right after Uranus, the planet of chaos, change, revolution and revising stops in the heavens and pivots on his heels to move forward in a new and different way.

Expect on the New Moon to feel like you want to make changes and start moving in new directions after a long period of waiting for something or someone to show up. Or perhaps you’ll decide to change your old approach to something new. Whether you decide to not eat turkey on Thanksgiving, change your plans rather unexpectedly, develop a strategy for the future or draw up a long term vision for where you want your life to go, forward motion with a revised sense of purpose is what the energy is all about.

The Sagittarius Moon is out of bounds, giving it a wild and carefree or extremely emotional cast to all things maternal, nurturing, motherly or food based. Jupiter in Capricorn answers to Saturn in Virgo and Saturn is disposited by Mercury in Sagittarius. That lineup ruling the Moon offers an opportunity to radically revision “stuff” in your life by making a detailed, solid, reliable list of all you want to incorporate in your next cycle of a moon month, 6 months, until February next year, 2 ½ years, 40 months or 16 years. Your call as to how you want to build your life. Maybe a few lists are needed? As Pluto just entered Capricorn and also responds to Mercury in Sagittarius, the New Moon serves as the first New Moon under Pluto’s new boss, Saturn. Think of the New Moon as your first meeting with a newly hired manager replacing the boss who you’ve been reporting to for the past 13 years.

You are on new ground. The new boss calls you in for a chat and look over. You were part of the old regime but now he or she’s inherited you, your job description, your good and bad habits. Does he want to keep you? Does she see you value? You only have one chance to make a good first impression. What impression do you want your new boss, Pluto in Capricorn to have of you?

Now, I don’t know about you but I had a few boss changes during my corporate years. You know how important that first meeting is. They have started a new job. They want to do a bang up job on it. They are looking at the people reporting to them and attempting to establish skills, talents, strengths and weaknesses. They bring their own stuff to the conference table when they meet with you. I had the boss that took over for the failed, demoted leader who assumed he inherited a bunch of losers. Within six months, virtually the entire team changed. I had an Irish Pisces alcoholic boss with Pluto on his South Node whose first meeting with me was simply unbelievable! I could feel his mother transference hit my solar plexus about 5 minutes into our conversation. I started looking for a job the next day. I had a boss who inherited me who reacted with gallantry, grace, kindness as well as who-do-I -have-here pleasant neutrality. I had a boss who was thrilled to get me, another who was afraid of me, and a third who was started neutral and ended up becoming a wonderful and dear friend out side of the office.

Pluto in Capricorn instead of Sagittarius means Saturn is now Pluto’s boss. Jupiter is outta here and no longer in charge of Pluto. Expect to be in on time, watch your breaks, do your work and skip that extra cigarette break and inquire about how Pluto would like things done going forward! Pluto in Capricorn is going to be a more serious boss, with clearer and crisper boundaries that Pluto in Sagittarius ever had. Excess will be noted. Performance is expected. Cleaner and crisper boundaries are good even if they might take a bit of adjusting at first. Pluto in Capricorn is not a BAD boss ~ just a somber boss, a boss that has expectations, a boss that wants to get on with the work rather than the drama, excess and wild energy that is part of Sagittarius.

Venus is also out of bounds as she approaches Jupiter in Capricorn. So our DESIRE nature is rocking and rolling with an excess energy as well as a desire for crispness, cleanness, a tight crease bending towards the instep and standup starch in the collar. Let Venus be in charge a bit during the Moon as she’ll soften up (and organize) all those over talking, over venting, over doing, over, overing Sagittarian planets found clustered around the New Moon. Venus is also in trine to Saturn so she acts kind of like a substitute teacher who has to be strict when she takes over a room. Venus will be more formal. Formal is good. Get to know her and she’ll be much better. Raise your hand to be called on. No shouting out the answers. Remember, all this change is because you’ve either earned it or have to deal with it because Pluto is in Capricorn.

Capricorn doesn’t like whining. No whining. Suck it up. Do it. Or don’t do it. Either way, don’t complain about it. Expect the new boss to notice what you are up to as well as who you are. Smile. Keep it buttoned up. Deliver. Forward you go.

Remember we are all getting to know Pluto in Capricorn. Capricorn rewards doing what you say you are going to do. Or trying your darnedest to do what you said you were going to do. A serious energy, Capricorn wants us to measure up and perform well. No penalties for losing. Just get back up and try again. No whining. New boss. New substitute teacher. Smile. Try to answer the questions put to you. Show up. You are going to be fine. You have to do your Saturn to show Pluto in Capricorn that you take this whole new boss business VERY SERIOUSLY indeed.

Commentary: ‘A Game of Cricket’ is seen. ‘Cricket’ is a ‘Game’ that is associated with gentility, gamesmanship and decorum. It is a bat and ball game played on green fields with “gentlemen” players, all dressed in their “whites”. There are two teams, with 11 players each. It is a game of skill, fairness, and peaceful cooperation amongst its players. In days of old, particularly in England, people would gather from around the district to play and the ‘Game’ was usually one of friendliness and good-humored sportsmanship.

Oracle: This reflects a time when it is not necessarily the game that is important, but how it is played. You may find that integrity is vital in this situation and your honesty and ability to “play by the rules of the game” will give you just rewards, even if there is some initial sacrifice. Careful teamwork is probably needed to stop things getting through the gaps. Although the situation may take some time, everyone must keep on their toes, ready for something that may come out of “left field”. It is important in this situation for everyone to understand the expectations required of them. Honesty and integrity are important, and also highly regarded. Behaving against these expectations can receive a harsh reaction and treatment and possibly even rejection from others on the playing field. This is not a time for anyone to be pushing the envelope to test what is acceptable to the rules of society. The rules and guidelines for operating in this situation are, or should be, made very clear – there will be some form of punishment for dishonesty.

The New Moon in Scorpio is the last New Moon we have while Pluto is in Sagittarius. The last New Moon before a major planetary shift promises we will Scorpio Moons are intense little bundles of energy that focus our attention on value. Scorpio is all about value. Look at any thing in your life or your world. How much it is worth? Is it worth any thing? Why is it worth that? What is it worth to the other guy or gal? All the different kinds of value and valuations that exist are part of Scorpio‘s world.

On this new moon, we are being asked to focus on the FUNCTIONAL value of what we have in our life! How well does it serve you? What does it do for you? Why do you need it? Function is from the Latin stem function- , from funct- , the past participle stem of fungi “to perform” .

Some definitions of function include 1. purpose: an action or use for which something is suited or designed. 2. role: an activity or role assigned to somebody or something. 3. event: a social gathering or ceremony, especially a formal or official occasion. 4. mathematics variable quantity determined by others’ values: a variable quantity whose value depends upon the varying values of other quantities. 5. dependent factor: a quality or characteristic that depends upon and varies with another. 6. mathematics correspondence between members of different sets: a relationship between two mathematical sets, in which each member of one set corresponds uniquely to a member of the other set. Also called map. Also called mapping. 7. computing single computer operation: a named and stored basic operation of a computer yielding a single result when invoked 8. computing computer program’s main purpose: the purpose of a computer program or piece of computer equipment, for example, database management or printing. 9. linguistics role of word or phrase: a grammatical role performed by a word or phrase in a particular construction. Noun phrases can fulfill many functions: 1. serve purpose: to serve a particular purpose or perform a particular role hats functioning both as fashion statements and as protection against the sun. 2. be in working order: to operate normally, fulfilling a purpose or role. When the heart ceases to function, the patient is clinically dead.

The Sun and Moon are approaching an opposition to Vesta in Taurus suggesting you release things that aren’t functioning well or that no longer serve their purpose or role in your life. Uranus and Saturn repeat the message with their strengthening opposition. Change the structure to support what you value. Structure changes to support what you value. All changes are designed to make your life function better.

Mars is moving fast and will set off quite a few planets over the next few days. He set off Chiron and Jupiter bringing wounding words as well as an expansion of opportunities or changes. Over the balance of the week, Mars awakens, in order, Saturn, Uranus, Mercury, Pallas Athena, and Neptune. So next up is fear or work, change or chaos, ideas or communication, a change in strategy and a dream realized or released.

Success is a function of determination and ability. We deem ourselves “successful” when we obtain what we value. Often our personal values can and do conflict with what our parents, friends or our society say we should value. Our individual Saturn placement by sign and house is what we value most as well as what we are most afraid of. Our individual Saturn is, truth be told, how we will define our success in our life.

Our New Moon will outline and highlight the functional value of your fear/ Saturn. You will “get”, as Mercury is in the room and talking, what your fear/ Saturn gives you. You will “get” how your fear/ Saturn helps direct your actions toward or away from your dreams

You’ve had your fear/ Saturn for as long as you’ve been alive. In fact, back when you were deciding to incarnate for this life, you looked around and said “Yep, I‘d like to learn how to work with this energy. That is my life‘s work this time I go around.” Of course, you said THAT while you were sitting on a cloud with no troubles in your world! You were bodiless soul. It was a concept. It was all theory. It was not practical. Nor was it standing in front of you and telling you to be afraid, be very afraid!

If you look at the DEGREE of your Saturn ~ the numbers involved with it ~ that is the AGE at when YOU realized that you might get in trouble when you did your Saturn. That is when the fear, shame, humiliation and anxiety about letting your Saturn function the way it wanted to showed up. Think about the story or experience that went along with your Saturn/ fear when you realized you might have the worst thing happen if you acted on, verbalized or did your Saturn or the thing you feared the most.

What happens when we fear something is that it gets power. It grows bigger and bigger. It starts to steal our energy. Saturn’s negative side will grow in its ability to get us to do things based on fear rather than love. Then we get all distorted, twisted and screwed up. We do all sorts of things to avoid our Saturn, minimize him, disparage him, blame him or not take responsibility for our actions. Actually, OUR FEAR of our Saturn makes US do stupid things. And then Saturn’s negative side grows in power.

You have to love your Saturn. You have to slide on over to him and give him a big old hug. If you understand WHAT you are afraid of, it loses its power. If you consciously go and get your fear back, take back your fear from your Saturn and hold Saturn/ fear in your arms while sitting fear/ Saturn in your lap, you’ll retrieve ENORMOUS energy! Your Saturn/ fear holds enormous energy.

Lead, the metal, is ruled by Saturn. The alchemists of old were always trying to turn Lead into Gold. Gold is ruled by the Sun. They knew that working with Lead would get them some place special. Maybe they wouldn’t actually be ever able to turn Lead into Gold but they did have a darn good time trying. Plus they learned all sorts of OTHER things while working with their Saturn.

So take time on the New Moon and in the month ahead to get clear on what you value. Focus on it. Move toward adding more of it into your life. Let go of the stuff you no longer value or need. Once Pluto goes into Saturn’s sign for good at the end of next month, you will be face to face with what you value and what is the most important thing~ Saturn ~ each and every day. So clear out the old, after you determine the value to YOU, and create space for the next chapter to begin.

Commentary: ‘A Gold Rush Tears People Away From Their Native Soil’. The ‘Gold Rush’ brings the temptation to chase the promise of riches, wherever they may be. There have been many ‘Gold Rushes’ throughout history, and people often gamble their resources and their sense of security to chase the possibility of discovering treasures or rewards.

Oracle: The actual promise of abundance and fulfillment from the ‘Gold Rush’ is only really available for a few, although this depends very much on the ‘Gold’ that is being pursued. If the ‘Gold’ is worth the journey and the search, particularly on an internal level, this could be a very rewarding journey that may lead to a better life. Before you set out, you need to make sure you have an adequate “map” of the new territory that you’re exploring. You may indeed strike ‘Gold’ or you may just find yourself exhausted and a long way from home. The choice is often between an established, fairly stable situation and an unstable, temporary or risky situation. Learning to discriminate just what is and what is not possible will enhance your judgment of what’s worth pursuing. Feelings of excitement and hysteria can be infectious and you can find yourself heading off towards something that’s not all it was cracked up to be. The desire to make easy money, to “strike it rich”, or the grab for fame can easily overtake people if ambitions get out of hand. Long term relationships may become unpredictable and unstable when this Symbol is around, as one, or possibly even both of you, are likely to run off for parts unknown just when you seem to be settling into an everyday sense of life. If you’re both after the same treasure, however, this can be an incredibly exciting experience. Whatever the outcome, the trick is to enjoy the journey.

The New Moon takes place in the Second house, cast for the East Coast of the United States, drawing our eye and attention toward things that are of value to us. The second house rules the value of what we receive, earn or seek in our life. It rules the value you place on your personal and psychological worth. How do you value YOUR contribution to the world you live in? Look at both your spiritual as well as material worlds and evaluate the balance between them. It is one thing to receive a salary or compensation in life for what you do and quite another to feel satisfied with WHAT you do to receive the money.

Financial influence in the material world does not buy spiritual leverage in the afterlife. As the saying goes, you can’t take it with you. The Sun rules the 12^th house of spirituality, karma, self undoing and things operating behind the scenes. The Moon rules the 11^th house of your tribe as well as your wishes, hopes and dreams. The New Moon lights are in a dual square aspect to Jupiter, pulling in our earliest and preverbal, primal fourth house security and home needs as well as our seventh house abilities to move out into the world with either our friends at our side or to face off with our open enemies. The Sun and the Moon are approaching their square to Jupiter so the energy of these questions is activated.

Both of the lights are demanding attention from Jupiter. Jupiter, not happy in his fall in Capricorn, is squaring the Sun also in his fall in Libra. The Moon, because she is New, and joined to her mate the Sun, is unable to separate her emotions from Sun’s desires. So her emotions merge with the Sun’s desires and light. Jupiter and the Sun fight on the lunation. The two planets, currently in hard times and difficult places, have now decided to argue with each other over who has it worse. Emotions are deeply tied to the visions and positions taken now.

In a very deep sense, this is a be very, very careful what you wish for New Moon. The heavens are listening. They are listening closely to what you are saying. Pluto is paying attention to see if you need to go to remedial school for any lessons unlearned while you traveled with him through the sign of Sagittarius since 1995. The whole point of your journey on earth is to evolve and grow. And to NOTICE and ACKNOWLEDGE that you have evolved and grown.

If your persistent phrase is “Nothing good ever happens to me” or “No one will ever love me” or “All I have to do is struggle, struggle, struggle!” or “Nothing has changed with him/her!” or “I am a failure and a screw up!” please remember, the heavens are listening. Stop saying that! Last week, the Hammers of Thor brought you consciousness about your being, your life and your role in your world. Those Hammers expect you to get it! It is time to get with the program. And it is time to be responsible for your part in it! You helped to create your life and the situations you find yourself in. Do you want to continue that same story for the next 16 years as Pluto goes through Capricorn? Focus your intent and your phrasing on what you would LIKE to have, create or move toward. Stop feeding more and more negative energy toward those old dogmatic phrases that reflect who you were or what you believed before.

The purpose of Pluto’s journey through Sagittarius was to have us question our underlying belief structures. You were supposed to seek out and unearth new experiences in your life. It offered the opportunity to explore, travel, experience, learn, meet, encounter, appreciate all the world has to offer compared to what you knew. It offered an opportunity to discover and explore worlds that lie beyond your programmed thinking or knowledge. It asked you to expand your mind to include the possibilities, learn new things, seek out other cultures and different ways of thinking. What have you defined about your personal ethics, philosophy, truths or basic understanding about how life works since 1995? What do you know now, that you didn’t know then? It is time for you to create a new and sound philosophical basis for your life as we wrap up Pluto in Sagittarius.

The purpose of this new moon is to help you focus your vision and understand what you believe about your self, your life, your relationships, your hopes and your dreams. It is our second to last new moon while Pluto is in the last degrees of Sagittarius. And this moon is a heck of a lot easier to work with than trying to work with NEXT month’s new moon in Scorpio lying in the path or fire!

The New Moon features a grand trine in Air between retrograde Mercury, Neptune, North Node, Chiron and Pallas Athena. That means that ideas are amazingly important under this New Moon. The interior daily dialogue you have with yourself is what I mean. No more putting yourself down ~ at least not on this New Moon while the heavens are listening.

The New Moon also features a grand trine in Earth ~ now Saturn is separating from the trine but Jupiter is still talking and working with Vesta as the Sun and Moon square Jupiter. Again, back to the vision and the stories you tell around the hearth! Those myths, visions, images and stories you tell yourself are SO important. They define who and what you are. Take time under the new moon to tend to your dreams.

Commentary: ‘A Woman Feeding Chickens and Protecting Them From the Hawks’ is an image of maternal care, and having a sharp eye to watch that everyone who needs ‘Protection’ is protected. The ‘Hawks’ are predators, and ‘Chickens’ can be like sitting-ducks, to be picked off. The ‘Woman’ is responsible for the well being of the ‘Chickens’ and has to ensure their safety. This may symbolize a situation where it is very difficult to relax. There is the perception that one’s guard can’t be let down without someone, or some thing, taking advantage.

Oracle: There is a need to look after those in your care, whether they are people, things or ideas. If you put yourself in the position of being the caretaker, you must take responsibility for the care, nurturing and well being, together with the other necessary tasks. The ‘Woman’, who has become the ‘Chickens’ caregiver, has not only to ‘Feed’ them, but ‘Protect’ them from any dangers as well. Making sure that safeguards are in place and working well will ensure that things don’t go wrong. However, those in a position of care need to recognize the fine line between protection and overprotection. There is always more to responsibility than meets the eye. A statement often associated with this is “I only did it to protect you”. Over-sheltering can lead to alienation from the caregiver. This can apply in another sense; it can indicate keeping people in the dark and not letting them know what’s really going on-”for their own good”. This Symbol can show taking responsibility for things that may not normally be yours. There are possibly dangers that no one else seems to be taking seriously. Any efforts directed towards protecting and nourishing will be rewarded in the future.

The chicks only duck for chicken hawk shadows. So what is the chicken hawk shadow you duck for? Right now, someone is protecting you from the hawks. No ducking. Focus on what you want to create. 7:48 Virgo Sun and Moon.

I am loving this New Moon at 7 Virgo! Finally, a cosmic break of sorts! The heavens are smiling at us. While the Sun and the Moon are still in Virgo, they are both ruled by Venus is Libra! Venus in Libra adds a lovely, balancing quality to the energy of Virgo‘s detail, focused and analytical skills. While the energy still might be a bit compulsive, it is PARTNERING with our compulsion rather than being bossed around and criticized by it.

Venus in Libra rules Mercury in Libra. Mercury rules all the Virgo and Gemini planets. So Saturn in Virgo too, finds himself answering to Venus in Libra. Saturn is exalted in Libra so I am willing to stretch it a bit so that the Venus in Libra ultimately owns that Saturn in the sky. Libra ~ partnerships, balance, beauty, creation, relationships, grace, sharing, diplomacy, cooperation, compromise, equality, justice, mutuality, clarification and communication ~ it is an air sign symbolized by the sign of the scales.

The New Moon chart has a lovely grand trine in Earth. Saturn, Sun and Moon in balance seeking Virgo are trine to Jupiter in Capricorn, stationing, also answering to Venus in Libra via his Saturn, Mercury and Venus rulerships. All of them are also trine to Vesta in Taurus, who answers directly to Venus in Libra.

A grand trine in earth that speaks with an air voice ~ that means we are supposed to focus on our ideals, ideas, and thoughts about what we’d like to create in our lives. Air is the first step in creation. Earth is the final form of creation. So take time on this New Moon to focus your energy on what you’d like to create and partner with in the years ahead.

Jupiter’s station in earth adds power to the New Moon as he is at his degree of station on September 8. Pluto is also at the degree of his station on September 8. When two planets are pausing or slowing to a virtual standstill in the sky, that causes their energy to build up and become more potent and powerful. Think water building up behind a damn. Or pressure building up behind a wall. Once it starts to MOVE again, there is enormous pent up energy that comes flowing out into the world creating a whoosh of creation. So we are loading the stations of Jupiter and Pluto with our hopes, wishes and dreams which they will propel forward once they start to move forward again.

The chart is a see-saw shape meaning a push on one end creates movement on the other end. Think see-saw in the playground. The see-saw has leverage and is able to lift your friend high in the air with relatively minimal effort. And, you can park your butt on the ground, holding your friend suspended high in the air. Or they can do that to you. But the best way to play with a see-saw is to push up when it is your turn and for them to push up when it is their turn. The chart, the new moon, is a balance seeking entity. Seeking balance and equality, it is moving back and forth, taking turns, between options. Try to do that in your life too.

Pluto is back at the degree of his shadow, December 10 - 12, 2007. Think back on what was going on for you then, as he is bringing that story to the front of the room over the week ahead and under this new moon. Jupiter is back at the degree of his shadow, February 12 - 13, 2008 during the last eclipse cycle. Again, the story from that time is back in living color in your life. Cycles, cycles ~ they repeat so we can grow wiser, smarter and evolve. What have you learned from that time?

Venus is on the World Axis of 0 Libra. She is leaving her square to Pluto and approaching a square to the Ascendant of 1 Capricorn for the Washington, DC New Moon chart. It is fitting that we find ourselves between the two major parties political conventions about the direction and leadership of our county. You are at a pivotal decision point too about how you want to structure YOUR life. Venus on the World Axis is also square to the Part of Fortune at 1 Capricorn, next to the World Axis ~ what do you want your fortune to be? What is your path ahead?

All New Moons are potent for rituals. It is the time offered to us by the heavens to say what you want in your life over the next cycle. This New Moon taking place in the World chart’s Virgo house speaks to what you want your daily life. It asks after the habits, work, routines, and rituals that you want to create in your life. It also takes place in the house holding 7 Virgo in your individual chart ~ seeking a new beginning in that house too.

So take time on the New Moon to perform a creation ritual. Sit down with One or Four candles and symbols of air (a feather, incense, music), water (a bowl full), fire (the candles count) and earth (rocks, crystals, salt, stones, dirt). Ask the elements and directions of Air-East, Fire-South, Water-West, and Earth-North to join you. Meditate on what you would like to create in your life in the years ahead. Write it down. Read it out loud. If you can (safely!) burn the paper you wrote it on, do so. Go bury the ashes in the earth. If you can’t burn the paper, keep it in a safe place or bury it in the earth, unburned. This is also a lovely New Moon to create a vision sheet ~ images pasted onto a white piece of paper or into your dream notebook that represent where you want to go with your life.

So don’t be afraid to join in, stand up and participate in the dance of your life! Be a willing, bold and brave soul. Please know that the call of your soul is towards what you incarnated to do. Ask the heaven’s for help on your journey. Ask the people you meet for help on your journey. Tell everyone what you want to create in your life ~ and don’t listen to the no-sayers. They don’t have dreams. The dreams you have are YOUR dreams. You incarnated to make your own dreams come true. So don’t be afraid. Seek how you can partner with your dreams, even if they seem impossible or outlandish or unattainable. Move towards them on this New Moon. Or make a resolve to move toward them! And start to take a step. If I leave New York and walk north only 5 steps a day, eventually, I will get to Boston. It is the same with your dreams. Take a step, or three, towards them.

Commentary: ‘A Girl Takes Her First Dancing Instruction’ is a Symbol of youth, innocence and naïveté. The ‘Young Girl’ needs to show respect and reverence for the “teacher”, as this person may hold the key to her future, in some way. The ‘Girl’ must listen to her ‘Instructor’ or teacher; otherwise she may miss the rewards and opportunities available in the lesson she’s taking. She also has to listen to and become one with the music. Along with the need to accept ‘Instruction’ she must pay attention to the steps and the “rules”. How well she gets along with the “teacher” will add to how well the lessons succeed.

Oracle: You may find yourself in a situation that is brand new to you and you need to “learn the ropes”. You have the potential to do well, but initially you may be unsure of what to do or how to act (or react), or what “steps” to take. Even though you may know a lot about many different things, in regard to the situation facing you, you may not have had much experience. New Moon Eclipse August 1, 2008

The New Moon eclipse takes place bright and early on Friday morning when cast for the East Coast of the United States. The eclipse features an enormous stellium in Leo ~ Ascendant, Sun, Moon, Mercury, South Node, and Venus. That is an unusual amount of fixed fire energy pulsing at us across the sky. It is sending its passion right down to us here on Planet Earth and bathing us in Leo desires. The four planets and two exceptionally sensitive points are urging us to follow our heart, our passion, our loyalty, our desire for love to the next place, step or path. The South Node encourages us to let go of our fear. Let go. Let go. Put the fear down and follow your heart’s desire. The Ascendant says “Well, silly human, OF COURSE if you do what you love you will be happy!” It seems so simple a message but some how, some way or in some manner, we manage to trip over ourselves and get in our own way in the pursuit of our life‘s passion.

I remember a wise person once saying to me that “People spend time on the things they love. They may SAY they love you, but if they don’t spend their time on or with you, how much DO they actually love you? What DO they spend their time on? THAT is what they love!” I was moaning and complaining about someone who didn’t love me the way I wanted them to. It was a bit of an eye opener. When I thought about it, it made a great deal of sense.

Think about it, don’t you naturally did spend your time on what is important to you? When you want to spend time with someone, don’t you make the time, call and plan activities? When you want to read a certain book or go to a concert or play, don’t you create the time to do it? When you are ambivalent about it ~ perhaps it doesn‘t get done. Or it sounded like a good idea but oh well, not on the to-do list and oops you missed it. When you are busy with other tasks, yes, perhaps you lose your focus. When you are anxious, preoccupied, taken away from paying attention to what you love, perhaps you don’t spend as much time on it as you wanted to but some level of you feels the lack or loss.

The point of this eclipse is to focus your activity, being, desires and energy on and toward what you love and what you want your life to become. It will ask you to look at what you love and why you love it. The eclipse will say to you, “So, IF you love it, are you spending your time on it? Are you pursuing it? Are you focused on it? If so, can you do more? What else can you do? If no, why not?”

According to Bernadette Brady in her book The Eagle and The Lark, “This eclipse is known for breaking out of a negative situation where no hope can be seen to a more positive space containing many options. A worry that may have been affecting a person will suddenly clear. The solution is shown by the Cosmos and needs to be take up without too much delay.”

Often we find ourselves seeming “trapped” in a situation where what we want isn’t available from the person we want it from. This eclipse will illuminate that too. It will point out the path for change. It will bring ideas, usually from the people you are complaining to, about how to change it. Rather than arguing with them, change something ~ your behavior. Change your behavior.

The ability for exceptionally profound change is show in the eclipse chart as Mars in Virgo is approaching his opposition to retrograde Uranus and just finished a trine to retrograde Jupiter in Capricorn. Mars is also in an adjusting aspect to the North of Destiny, as well as retrograde Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius. The energy of the eclipse is about change. It is about change towards what you want your life to be like. It is about change away from what your life is currently like. The imagery I get is you are pushing on a pull door. You have to pull the door to get a pull door to open! A minor behavior change, to be sure, but yet it is a VERY important minor behavior change that will get the door to open properly. What is the pull door you are pushing on?

There are things we can’t change. Gravity, for example. We can’t change gravity or how it works. Gravity is a fact. Gravity exists. In fact, we use gravity, all the time, to get what we want. Gravity acts in a certain and very predictable way. Our sports are designed to work with gravity. Our homes and behaviors reflect gravity. Gravity is a given.

Is the thing you are complaining about or having problems with as fixed as gravity? If not, it can change. Or YOU can change your approach to it (pull door versus push door). Or you can USE the gravity and fixed nature of the situation to get to what you want. Use the situation before you. Make a minor behavior change and voila ~ it all shifts.

The point is to make the minor behavior change in the direction of WHAT YOU LOVE! Gotta go for it. Gotta give yourself permission to create what you would like in your life. You might be dealing with a pull door instead of a push door. Do you need to even OPEN THE DOOR anymore?

Pluto is on the fixed star Acumen during the eclipse. Acumen means sharpness of mind: quick insight, or the ability to make quick accurate judgments of people or situations. It is from Latin and means “point, sharpness,” from acuere “to sharpen.” So look. Look clearly. Look with out judgment. Just look. Observe the third entity involved in the situation before you. See what you see. Additionally a number of Arabic Parts are VERY active on the eclipse and involved in the lunation. Arabic Parts are energy patterns formed by combining planets and house cusps. The Leo Sun and Moon are on the Parts of Fortune, Life, Spirit, Bondage, Merchandise and Honorable Acquaintances. So take advantage of the eclipse energy to enhance your Fortune by starting projects. Expand the vision you have for your life. Embrace the fact that you are incarnate on earth and what that means for your soul. Look at where you are feeling in bondage. What are your options there? You do have them. You only have to exercise your options. Watch what comes to you under this eclipse. Listen to your honorable Acquaintances. See what wisdom they have to share with you. Act with honor in all situations before you. Focus on doing what you love.

EARLY MORNING DEW SALUTES THE SUNLIGHT

Commentary: ‘Early Morning Dew Salutes the Sunlight’ gives the feeling of freshness in the air as the sun comes up in the ‘Morning’. The warmth of the Sun is yet to create the vibrancy of the new day, but the promise is there. This is a time of limbo, when the stillness and the darkness of night are washed away as the day progresses into light and activity. However, this Symbol can signify a time known as the “Dark Night of the Soul”. St. John of the Cross used this term to describe the experience of mystics who feel depressed and isolated, from the world and even from God. This was often prior to the attainment of mystical transcendence – when the ‘Sunlight’ breaks through and a healing takes place. This is a time of freshness where the “air” (the newly awakened mind) is crisp and the “ground” (the refreshed and renewed body) readies itself for a new round of activity. The birds are stirring and there is a buzzing in the air, as all creatures start moving about.

Oracle: There are times in our life when we wonder if we can persevere to the end of some ordeal. After a cold and difficult time, you may now be close to the end of your troubles and sensing that the resolution to your problems is imminent. The reward of relief may prove to be transitory, so enjoy it before you move on with the activity of the new day. You may still have some of the same issues to face, but now there is probably more insight into what changes and shifts in attitude can be made. Awakening energies are signaling new beginnings. Taking your shoes off and walking on the grass in the early morning is said to be very good for the soul.

11:32 Cancer Sun and Moon

The New Moon chart incorporates Venus and Mercury into the configuration of the slowly separating Finger of God. The Finger of God in June brought profound changes into our lives in June, particularly in our Leo house as it offered us an opportunity to release, release, release so we can move forward. (Or change, change, change so we move forward depending on how you look at what went on).

Under the New Moon, we look at, become conscious and see, using Mercury. Using hope, love and desire, we soften the experience using Venus. Be Gentle with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Know that once the changes happened, on some level, there is no going back. Your old life is over. Your new life will be beginning soon. Right now, we are in clean up, clean out mode.

Our New Moon is out of bounds, quite out, so emotions and feelings of release and new beginnings will be larger than they usually are on New Moons. Ceres is also out of bounds, in Cancer. Ceres straddles the Moon and Sun, with Venus on the other side. I envision the two of them, Ceres and Venus, holding hands around the front and back of the Sun and Moon. Remember when you were little and two adults did that to you? You had arms over your belly and arms behind your back. If you relaxed your stance and LET IT HAPPEN, the arms could and would sway you back and forth by pushing you gently. Try and relax into the energy of the New Moon like that. Let the Moon and Sun ease, let Ceres and Venus wrap you in their arms to push, pull, sway and gently move you to where they want you to go. They have an agenda to help you grow. Ceres nurtures. Venus desires. How can you nurture your desire under the New Moon. You can help them gently relax you into your new direction too.

Mars is on the fixed star Regulus. Regulus is the royal star and all about holding your head high and saying “I am! I am” It is about standing in your true essence and owning it. Now, Mars in Virgo is also critical, derisive, fussy and picky but he is doing it for your own good (or at least he thinks he is). If Mars gets a bit out of hand with the criticism, tell him to hush now and leave you alone. Then go back to swaying back and forth in Venus’ and Ceres’ arms. Mars is approaching a conjunction with Saturn so his focus is also on pushing Saturn to move his butt forward. Saturn is telling Mars, no, no, nope, not so fast. Let them have the conversation in the corner. In the meantime, while they are not looking, take a few teeny, tiny steps forward all by yourself. Remember Venus and Ceres are nurturing you to be your true self.

Mars and Saturn join up next week, starting a two year cycle about building structures (Saturn) to create and activate (Mars) your hopes and dreams. They last met up in June of 2006, which was the beginning of a cycle around your creativity and what you loved to do. Now they are in the sign of skill, precision, and the apprentice. Virgo is the craftsman or craftswoman ~ the skill with which you execute your life. Your skills about and around what you want and love to do, will solidify and increase over the next two years. Your skills around your purpose for incarnating will structure and develop. Look at the house that contains 5 Virgo to see the area of your life that is starting a new cycle.

The Finger of God, while a bit wider than in June, is still rolling along in the heavens. The Finger has been pointing at what you need to release to move forward. Mars is setting off the eclipse from February 20^th while the Node is on the eclipse degree from February 6^th. If you think back to what was going on then for you, the EMOTIONS from around that time are now clear, concise and much more accessible. You have a handle on them. Look at them. Give them over to the gentle rocking of Venus and Ceres. So, lets say you ran into “envy” on or around the eclipse and were very rattled by it. This New Moon helps you understand how your OLD issues from early in your life were activated by that eclipse. Now, right now, there is a time for healing. Let say you ran into “love” on or around the eclipse and were consumed by it. Now, this New Moon helps you understand how your OLD issues, from early in your life were activated and changed by the eclipse. If you look at the energy of last month, that Finger of God, well, you see the area that YOU hang onto in spite, perhaps, your best possibilities. Again, back to the gentle rocking of Ceres and Venus. What would you like to create instead?

Pluto is on the fixed start Acumen. My dictionary says acumen means “sharpness of mind: quick insight, or the ability to make quick accurate judgments of people or situations, political acumen. It comes from Latin , “point, sharpness,” formed from acuere “to sharpen.” Acumen is a star about being able to see too. Pluto is asking you to look and see what you see. Make a judgment about it. Let your quick insight see how the events of the last month or so conspired to help you get clear on what you see, what you saw and what you think about what you noticed. Just let it bubble up in your mind as Venus and Ceres sway you back and forth.

It also is a new moon taking place the day before Mercury leaves his shadow. Mercury has been in his shadow since May 10^th. So reach back a bit BEFORE the Finger of God, back into May to see what you see and how all the ghosts of the retrograde speak to the journey. The New Moon takes place on Mercury’s day (for all of us) and Mercury’s hour (for us East Coast folks). That adds even more punch to Mercury’s message. And remember, Mercury is in aspect, a sideways, light shining kind of aspect, to the Finger of God, asking all those planets involved, Jupiter about the abundance you‘d like, Uranus about the changes needed, Neptune about the dream of your heart, Chiron about the old wound to your soul and the Nodes about your choice(S) about what you want out of your life and how you want to proceed on the path before you. So sit and answer those various questions of your soul as Ceres and Venus rock you back and forth.

To further support you, there is a balance in the sky of the elements and modes ~ kind of like the Magician card in Tarot, all the things you need are before you waiting to be picked up and used to create the next chapter of your life. No shortages. Nothing missing. You have everything you need. Venus is minutes away in her approach to her opposition to Jupiter so she is pulling Jupiter’s creative energy into the gentle rocking motion she‘s doing with Ceres.

Be conscious of how the choices you’ve made up until this point in your life have created where you are now. No harsh criticisms. Just look. Observe. Your choices, made today, tomorrow, the next day and off into your future, create your future. As Ceres and Venus gently rock your soul back and forth, dream about what your best life would look like. See it evolve before your eyes. Imagine what it is. Harness the energy of the new moon to help make it a reality.

The fact that she is ‘Chinese’ is significant, as the ‘Chinese’ have had a long tradition of seeking the spiritual layers of life. Sun and Moon at 13:34 Gemini

Our lovely spring new moon takes place at 13:34 Gemini, trapped between Venus and Mercury moving retrograde, also in Gemini. Communications, connections, desires, bonds and relationships are all involved when the relating planets of Venus and Mercury connect with the lights joining in the sky. Venus and Mercury stand beside the lights, like a best man and maid of honor at a wedding. They are there to witness the union of the two lights. As witnesses, they also have “history” with the Sun and Moon. They were there when the couple met, started to date, fought, broke up and ultimately reunited. Now, they stand as witnesses to the union of the Sun and the Moon that takes place on this lunation.  And, they will accompany the Sun and Moon as the lights proceed on their journey of seeding, evolving, ripening and harvesting the projects begun under this new beginning.

There are two Fingers of God formed right now in the heavens. The Fingers point toward and continue to push us to evolve and expand our purpose. Acting like giant cosmic pointers, they direct our attention to look at our relationships, particularly the ones in our community or tribe of choice, as we still continue to follow our own unique path in our life. The two Fingers are intermixed ~ sharing Jupiter as a linking point between the two different developmental tasks they out line.

One Finger, points to us and asks us to move towards our destiny, shrouded perhaps in fog, mist or without maybe more than a promise of a dream and the hope in our heart. We move toward it knowing we have to trust our heart, to take a leap and believe that the net will appear, accept on faith a belief in our ability to grow to meet the challenge of what comes next. We are caught between the desire for change or freedom and the desire for things to stay the same, safe and secure.

The second Finger asks us to start to build our structures for the future without a clear idea of what they will actually look like! We are losing something we know and probably loved in and agreeing to move backwards or redo or revisit our past. We’ll be moving in a reverse direction ~ just for a bit ~ but by doing THAT review and revisit function, we’ll actually have a clearer idea of what we want to build in our new structure.

We forget sometimes that humans are communal folks. We have various groups that we associate with and are tied to. Our groups come to us either by birth, by default or by our own choices ~ conscious or not so conscious choices. Right now the Universe is asking each of us to connect with our various groups, or the people in the groups, to see what we see. Once we see it, assess it, understand it and acknowledge what we need to know that we didn‘t know before, we will be free to move onto our next tasks of start to build our structures for the future without a clear idea of what they will actually look like and move towards our destiny, shrouded perhaps in fog, mist or without maybe more than a promise of a dream and the hope in our heart.

Pretty big requests by the universe, don’t you think? Build stuff that you don’t know what you are building and move towards something and you don’t know where you are going? Fortunately, or unfortunately, there is next to no water in the sky. Your emotions about these two rather big requests have no water to immerse themselves in to feel better. Consequentially, emotions are going to be high and skitter, slide, skid all over place. Electric and very wired or high strung. Charged and shocked. Vibrant but overloaded with choices, options and components. Amp and volume on high but no ear plugs around.

But as we can expect, the Universe offers us a way out, a way to evolve and grow. Decide to move toward what you love. Take actions to go that way ~ go towards what you love or toward what you are passionate about. Following your passion will move you toward your future, even if you don‘t know what or where you are going. Following your passion will recharge you. It will take you to a new place in your life.

Fear may happen under this new moon. If fear does appear, greet it like a dear friend and ask it what, exactly, it is afraid of. Nod your head. Say you understand that based on the previous parts of your history, fear is a normal response to the circumstances before you. Then, firmly and quickly, wrap your fingers around the “tall man” finger, the middle finger, the Saturn finger, on your hand. Hold it.  Hold that Saturn, fearful finger until the fear starts to ebb. Repeat the process with your other hand until the fear drops. Wiggle your thumbs to get your will going. Put your hands on your knees ~ fear loves to live in our knees ruled by Capricorn to keep us from moving forward. Hold your hands on your knees until you calm down and the fear abates.

We can live in fear or live in another emotion of our choosing. Choose to the other emotion ~ don’t sit in the fear. Notice it. Let it rise. Address it. Watch it ebb. Remember, the point of the new moon is to offer you new beginnings. Go back to the choices you’ve made ~ consciously or not so consciously. They were the proper choices at the time ~ based on the information you had at that moment. Maybe now, with hindsight, you might choose something different ~ but you chose what you chose. Be proud of your choice. Be content in your choice. Resolve to choose to follow what you love and are drawn to ~ regardless of what any one in your various groups say about it. Go towards what you love.

Take the time on this important New Moon to decide what you love and to move toward it. Sit with yourself and create a vision, a list or a drawing of what you want to create for your life. Remember Venus and Mercury are whispering into the Sun and the Moon’s ears ~ suggesting what is possible, desired and dreamed of. Move towards those dreams today, if only in your heart. But do take a small step or three toward them.

New Moon May 5, 2008

15:22 Taurus Moon and Sun

The New Moon for May takes place a bit after sun rise for the east coast of the United States. It features a lovely grand trine of three planets separating from each other in solid, reliable and dependable earth. The trine finds Saturn moving forward, at the degree he was at last September 15, 2007. Saturn trines Pluto, moving backwards, at the degree he was at March 1, 2008. Venus is the third planet in the grand trine, at 6 Taurus, she’s moving to catch up with the Sun, having flirted and danced with the big boys of the zodiac last week on the day before Saturn stationed to go direct.

Yesterday, when Moon was in early Taurus, Moon trined Pluto, then Saturn and finally Venus. There is a phenomenon called “Translation of the Light” where the Moon picks up the energy of the planets she makes aspects with and links those planets together, in her body and energy as she carries them or their messages forward. So, even as the planets in the grand trine are starting to separate, Moon gathers their energy and links them together, yet again, one more time ~ but now Saturn is direct so things have some how changed. And Neptune has finished his union with the North Node of destiny so yet another thing has changed.

Moon is bringing their energy to her union, or marriage, with the Sun. Moon loves to be in Taurus, exalting in her abundance, glory and power to make things grow and expand. Taurus is a luxurious place as the beauty of earth reigns and blossoms all over the place. Taurus is all about the fixed, solid, fertile and very productive earth. The Sun’s journey through the sign of Taurus takes place during the season of spring. Now, spring, is when all the plants in the upper hemisphere of earth shake off their winter dormancy and get to work blooming and growing ~ alive, Alive, ALIVE as the day’s light expands a minute or so every day.

The New Moon in Taurus is one of the most productive and fertile moons in the heaven. Sun and Moon join or unite in a creative frenzy. Make sure to plant good things on this moon! Send out your initiatives. Mail your resumes. Make the phone calls. Make a vision book or drawing. Push your energy out into the world to join in with the creative frenzy of life awake, alive and blooming all over the place. Jupiter is in a sextile aspect to Uranus at 21 Pisces in the 10^th house of our standing in the world. Notice all these planets are within a degree or two of each other ~ meaning they will all be triggered later today by the moon in Taurus on the other side of her union with the Sun.

If you look at the chart for the recent Saturn station direct, May 2, at 11:07 pm, EDT for cast for Washington, DC, you will notice the Ascendant and Desendant are the same degree yet exactly reversed ~ 22 Gemini/Sagittarius. Out of 360 degrees, the same degree across the heavens on two separate cosmic events separated by 4 days? Hmmm. That means the New Moon’s purpose is to echo and reinforce the lessons learned and worked on since Saturn was at the current degree ~ last September 15^th ~ combined with the emotions of the eclipse from March 2008. The lunation chart sets off the eclipse degree and charts and links up the stories across time and space for us. Additionally, that 22 to 24 degree span is echoed, reinforced and amplified by the Neptune, Jupiter and Uranus degrees on the New Moon and the recent Saturn station direct. They also aspect the USA Mars at 21 Gemini.

So what does it mean? There are many lessons of duality and reciprocity that I see occurring with my clients during readings lately. Notice the repeating stories that you hear around you. Notice how the story you are looking at or hearing about is the same story you are facing in your life at this moment. Or notice how it echoes the story is some weird (not really) or unusual way. The universe is attempting to help you see the pattern. It is time to become illuminated. Pay attention. Listen to your dreams. Spend time with Mother Earth and nature. See what you see. He is ‘Attempting to Reveal the Mysteries to a Group’ that don’t seem to understand, or at least they aren’t readily showing that they do. This is ‘A Motley Group’, which means it is made up of people who are different from each other in their appearance, background, interests etc. However, he is succeeding in teaching them as he’s accomplishing a ‘Degree of Success Unsuspected by Him’. It is likely that the ‘Old Man’, or the teacher, is the one who misunderstands what’s going on with the ‘Group’, or his students. He may see the superficial differences in the ‘Group’ as a barrier to their ability to understand his message. It is more likely that they are actually quite focused on the message, but each in their own way. By imparting knowledge, ‘The Mysteries’, the ‘Old Man’ has unified the ‘Group’.

Oracle: It may seem that nobody is paying attention to the advice or wisdom that is being offered, but it is not the wisdom that is at fault. There may certainly be a need to alter the way the message is delivered to make it more easily understood, however it is also important not to underestimate the capacity of the listeners to comprehend the messages that are being imparted. Take confidence in the message being given, or received, and have less expectation on how people should behave, respond or look. Remember that “conventional wisdom” does not always overcome the human emotional issues of confidence and self esteem. Be confident that the message is valuable enough to hold the attention of those participating.

Our new moon in Aries features a vital, hard charging and incredibly active T-Square with the Sun and the Moon at the apex of the energy. Whee haw!! Get ready for a wild ride of a month as we launch ourselves into the season of Spring from the launching pad of a cardinal rocket! Please keep your eyes WIDE OPEN and launch yourself into the next chapter of your life.

The Cardinal T-square forms between out of bounds Mars in Cancer and Jupiter in Capricorn and the Sun and Moon in Aries. Mars and Jupiter both dislike the signs they are in. However, they are also in mutual reception ~ and the mutual reception puts them in to signs they love. The trick with mutual receptions is to seek the higher level of the energy consciously and push things out into the world to have them take form.

Mars also rules the Sun and Moon in Aries ~ he is in water and goes back to that Moon in Aries. The imagery is all about steam ~ hot water, steamy, head of steam, rolling boil, heated up, hot head and simmering. Hot, hot water. Streams of hot steam flowing! Now hot water compressed and directed can do many wonderful things.

Steam boils and foams the milk in our Café Lattes and Cappuccinos. It can clean acres of soot off buildings and garage floors. It releases into pipes and heats your house, your hot water heater or makes your tea pot whistle. It softens your blocked pores and lets the blackheads ease out painlessly. It used to drive the steam engines before there were gasoline and combustion engines.

The point of the new moon in Aries is to direct all that lovely, lovely steamy energy towards your new life direction. Don’t blast your local environment with the steam ~ or burn the folks near and dear to you. Send that head of steam off into new directions. Launch your stuff out into the heavens or forward in your life. Take advantage of the force of the steam to move your life forward three or four giant umbrella steps.

I saw a lovely Broadway musical in previews, “A Catered Affair” by Harvey Fierstein and John Bucchino. In it, after a steamy, explosive episode between the husband and wife, Harvey sings to his sister, the wife, about remembering when they were children and riding on the cyclone, a very large, scary and rickety wooden roller coaster on Coney Island Beach. He sings about how she kept her eyes closed for the whole ride and only opened them at the very end. He suggests she open her eyes now as her ride is half way over and she needs to look at her life.

Last week’s Pluto station and the shift of Mercury and Venus into Aries blew a head of steam at some part of your life. Look at where the steam went. Commentary: ‘Two Prim Spinsters’ are shown ‘Sitting Together in Silence’. This Symbol shows people that know and understand each other, without the need for chatter. Feelings of contentment can come in time spent with a special friend, someone who you feel completely at ease with. A real sense of understanding of what the other is feeling and thinking can be a central quality of strong companionship. Of course, the ‘Two Spinsters’ may not be together through choice, but rather through life situations.

Oracle: In the situation facing you, remember that it is easy to become socially isolated when you hold on to conservative, judgmental, or moral ideas. Ask yourself if there is a select, restricted group with whom you are associating. Look for any opportunities to open up to deeper and further levels of communication. Be wary that a false sense of security doesn’t isolate you from change and growth. People don’t want to talk to each other if they feel their relationship has become boring, with nowhere to go and without much of a future. If people have nothing to say to each other should they spend their time together? Unresolved issues may be too difficult to discuss, they can lie beneath the surface causing fear, isolation and loneliness. ‘Silence’ or quietness can conceal frustration or feelings of sacrifice and loss. If there are no children in their lives, as they are said to be unmarried women, ‘Spinsters’, is that an issue? There is an old-fashioned belief, which says: It is important to our friends to believe that we are unreservedly frank or honest with them and important to friendship that we are not. That may have suited conditions in the past, but now we have to be open, honest and communicative, with others and with ourselves!

Our March New Moon invokes the energy of last month’s eclipse as it moves us forward in time and space. It takes place a few hours after Mars and Pluto finish their third opposition to each other, on the world axis of public recognition and awareness. Not only will YOU be aware of the changes in your life but other people in your world will learn about them too. Thus, it will be a New Moon where we want to begin new projects, launch into our future or start off on exciting journeys and brand new adventures. Provided, of course, that we don’t use the negative side of that Mars /Pluto opposition to start a war or get in a fight with some one!

We’ve had a bit of time to integrate the changes from last month as well as the profound eclipse energy that rocketed through our Aquarian house. Last month’s eclipse was also the first new moon after Pluto went into Capricorn so it outlined what you can expect under Pluto’s journey through Capricorn. A new world order with Pluto roaming in take charge earth means it is time for new visions on and in our worlds. We’ve gotten a teeny bit used to Pluto in Capricorn as we‘ve settled down from the changes in our lives. Uranus roamed over the eclipse degree from last September earlier this week. Uranus will move past the station degree from last June early next week. There were three planets, Venus, Mercury and Neptune, occulting the Aquarius moon earlier this week bringing to light additional information about the eclipse and last month's New Moon. Back then, we were unable to properly process things when all the changes were going on.

The point of all these configurations in the sky is to ask us to see things differently. Time to look at our lives with a new sense of idealism, hope and possibilities. We can see our world through our own set of Rose colored glasses. The Universe has a different and hopefully more cohesive version or vision than the one we are looking at and focused on. The heavens are trying to get us to link up the various bits and pieces from different times, phases and places in our life. If we link up the pieces, we can see our lives as well as our choices more clearly. It is kind of like backing up to see the forest as well as the trees. Or zooming in to see the details right before our nose that we missed before.  

First, Mars has been dancing with Pluto since last September. At the beginning of January, he opposed Pluto for the second time as he was moving retrograde. The earlier oppositions between Mars and Pluto were in the elements of fire and air. Now, Mars is in cardinal action taking, free flowing and fast moving water while Pluto is in cardinal action taking, want to build and accomplish something on this earth and make the world remember me. It is time for the energy of their opposition, argument, discussion, “face off”, or cosmic dance to “go to ground”. It is time for Mars and Pluto to create something firm and solid in our lives. Or it is time for them to blow up something so it finally changes already! If it is possible for you to do, attempt to use the energy of the Mars/Pluto opposition to launch yourself more firmly on your path instead of fighting with other folks. The tendency will be to want to fight with someone you feel is being whiny or manipulative or controlling. Harness that energy instead! Pull the two planets together by standing in the middle of them and harnessing their energy. You don’t want to do that ~ harnessing Mars, the killer and Pluto the underworld? Can’t say I blame you but consider (siding with the stars) something else.

As my friend Matthew pointed out, Mars and Jupiter are actually in mutual reception to each other! Mutual reception allows the planets to swap out and replace each other. We have to actively and consciously work with their energies to get them to do that swap! But mutual reception swaps offer us other options in using the energy. Mutual reception planets also have a special kind of communication that takes place ~ like a secret message system or way of knowing when the other guy needs help. When, or if, Mars and Jupiter decide to change places, both planets find themselves in their exaltation! We love to have planets in their exaltation.

Jupiter, in mutual reception swap, simply loves to be in the expansive growth energy of Cancer, fecund, fertile and moist, blooming, expanding and generating. Mars, in mutual reception swap, can turn his considerable strength and warrior energy towards building marvelous things, defining his direction and accomplishing great deeds while in Capricorn. However, to activate their mutual reception energy and get them to swap places, you have to consciously apply it! Do you feel a bit better about harnessing Jupiter in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn instead of Mars opposite Pluto? Remember the 13 year list you started back in December when Jupiter joined with Pluto at the last degrees of Sagittarius? The expansive list about your vision for your future? Well do something on your list! Reach out. Make the phone call. Take the action step. Write the proposal. Send out the resume. Begin the task. Take the first step of the journey. Today, now, this weekend or early next week. There are fabulous aspects to harness for your greater good. Get it out the door. Quick, quick, use the volumes of energy, that powerful Mars/Jupiter/Pluto energy, to direct your life force where you want it to go. Harness the energy in a productive manner to move yourself further along your path.

Athena is on the world axis too ~ she’s in Aries. She forms a t-square with the Mars/Jupiter opposition to Pluto. So be strategic. Watch. Plan. Athena emerged fully armed from her father’s forehead. You have your armor on. Do you still need your armor? The t-square between Athena, Mars/Jupiter and Pluto empties out into Libra’s house. Partnership issues are particularly fraught, tense and stressed under this energy. Be aware of your requirements for partner as well as partner’s requests or desires of you. Often a sense of entitlement or being “owed” are at the root of the anger responses we feel under t-squares like this. We have “suffered”. We have “supported”. And now we are not being “appreciated” for what we’ve done. Are you aware of how you benefited from the strategy pursued or taken? Focus on that for a moment too. There is a benefit in every relationship we are in or we wouldn’t pursue or stay in the relationship. What was the benefit to you? Even if it was a "crazy" benefit (in hind sight). Even if you don't know "WHAT" you were thinking when you did it, signed up for it, agreed to it, there was a benefit. Identify it. You may not need the benefit any more but there was a benefit there.

Neptune is still clouding Mercury up so Mercury is not at optimum mental capacity. That said, Mercury IS trying to figure things out. Feel your feelings ~ don’t act on them. Mercury is still in his shadow from his recent retrograde so he’s clearing up old messes, regrets, situations and problems from late January when he stationed to go retrograde on the 28^th. Mercury clears his shadow next week so you’ll understand more or get extra information about what went on under or during the retrograde and the eclipse. Mercury is in mutual reception with Saturn creating a special communications channel. Think of it as Saturn rolling into Neptune’s depths, instead of Mercury. Yes, that means the Lord of Karma and our primary teacher here on earth is dipping his big toe into transformation energy ~ the primal bliss of union with Neptune. Saturn is getting all soft and mushy around the edges as he dives into the Neptune ocean water for softening up. If you have a vision (Neptune), you can create it in form (Saturn). If you have a clear idea (Mercury) you can build a plan (Saturn in Virgo) to help make your dream (Neptune) come true. Listen to your dreams, ideas, young people and old people (mercury and saturn) to maybe fine tune your vision for yourself? 

I do hope you took the opportunity Mercury and his retrograde journey presented to talk to all the ghosts that appeared in your life ~ whether old boyfriends, partners, bosses, lovers, mates, siblings, friends, or co-workers! Those ghosts carried important messages for your understanding and evolution. So even if your entire family and set of friends were ANGRY, SHOCKED or APPALLED that you saw that old so and so idiot who treated you SO badly and broke your heart for drinks and a chat, please know that YOU HAD TO SEE THEM! By seeing them, they showed you important things you needed to know for your future. No judgment. Just learning. No self-righteousness. Just knowledge. No entitlement. Just part of what you wanted or needed a lesson in during your journey on Planet Earth. You signed up it. It is over now. NEXT! But before you go on, what DID you learn from chatting with them? THAT LEARNING IS TO BE REMEMBERED!

And, while we are at it, when you were chatting with the old ghost(s), didn’t you learn how much you’ve changed since you were last with them? Venus is immersed in Neptune and emerging with her hair dripping, flowing behind her. She’s parting from the boundary less depths of Neptune’s oceans and heading towards the North Node of destiny. Now, if you remember, last fall, Venus was in Leo and waltzing back and forth between Saturn in Leo and Pluto in Sagittarius. Venus, eventually, went home with Saturn. And she Tangoed, a touch, with Pluto. Venus now approaches the North Node of where you and her ~ are going with your joined life. What do you and Venus desire? What or how does that desire serve your path? Will you LISTEN to her and hear what she is saying to you? Venus is actually pretty smart and quite clear on what she wants. What Venus wants is what you want. So agree to work with her will you? Agree to pursue what you both want in your life.

Remember your chart always pulls you toward your higher purpose, whatever that is. Your soul is here to evolve into the best version of your chart that you can be. So drive that energy consciously. And second, remember, that what you are drawn towards often IS the higher purpose of your chart and soul’s intent. You are here to be a living embodiment of your particular patch or configuration of the heavens.  Venus knows what your desire nature needs to be the highest and best version of you that you can be. Give the old gal some room to tango with the North Node. Don't be so ashamed or embarrassed by her pasion! She's YOUR VENUS! You asked for her!

The other thing the New Moon does is, sit, right at the very edge of, Uranus, the great awakener. In a couple of hours, Moon joins with Uranus. In a day, Sun joins with Uranus. Uranus has been activating points from last September and late June of 2007. I always think of Uranus as a magician. Uranus arrives and magically, things change in your world! Things change whether you want them to change or not. You are unfrozen and able to move forward again. Admittedly, I have Uranus in a fairly nice configuration, even if it is in a t-square, in my chart. I have also witnessed some “nasty” (at the time) Uranus transits in my years as an astrologer. But always, nice or nasty, the changes Uranus produced were LONG overdue. And, always, even if they were unwanted at first, the changes led to the person living a more evolved, connected, true and awakened life.

That said what ever Uranus touches wakes up. Uranus is touching stuff on the New Moon. The story from last June wakes up. The story from the eclipse wakes up. There is a lovely clip that shows us what can happen when the planet of chaos and change freezes, how we (or others) react and then, whoosh, what happens when Uranus suddenly starts to go forward again. In the clip below, we see the impact of Uranus! 

In your case, Uranus has essentially been trapped or frozen for the past 9 months between the degrees of 14:46 and 18:41 of Pisces, affecting all the mutable signs as well as all planets and points in your chart between those degrees. Uranus goes past 18:41 next week! And so, onward into your life! You are about to unfreeze! You are about to change and go forward!

Commentary: ‘In a Huge Tent, a Famous Revivalist Conducts His Meeting With a Spectacular Performance’. This pictures somebody who has the ability to get people up and going on a spiritual, emotional and physical level. He works hard to ensure that his words strike the minds and hearts of those listening. Words of hope and redemption and the giving of one’s self to higher purposes and goals are delivered. Singing and dancing can erupt out of people in celebration. This is largely the result of the passion of the ‘Famous Revivalist’ and the audience may be very inspired by the occasion, especially as he ‘Conducts His Meeting With a Spectacular Performance’, with people joining in, in some way or another.

Oracle: You may find there is a need to organize and stage a display of the situation, bringing the feeling of the community coming together in a common goal. The symbolism of the ‘Huge Tent’ can represent many things, i.e., it can be a school hall, a church, a circus tent, an outdoor arena all the way up to something such as the worldwide web. It indicates anywhere people come together to experience a lecture or a performance, or, as this Symbol pictures ‘A Famous Revivalist’. They gather to listen to inspired and inspiring messages being delivered. There is a need for caution, though, as sometimes this can picture situations of hysteria, overstating one’s case, or having the audience get out of control. With the power to influence or sway groups of people, there needs to be some feeling of care and moderation. People are often prepared to listen, but for how long? Is the audience listening? Is the cause just? The person ‘Conducting His Meeting’ may be arrogant and believe that only he has the true answers. Sometimes the ‘Revivalist’ may need to top up his own knowledge, feelings and understanding about life and spirituality by listening to those around him.

Commentary: ‘A Master’ is ‘Instructing His Disciple’. He is giving his ‘Disciple Instruction’ on how to handle life in the spiritual, intellectual and emotional realms. The ‘Disciple’ must listen to all the ‘Master’ says and to learn from his example. There’s an old saying, “when the student is ready, the teacher appears”. It could easily also be “when the student is ready, the lesson appears” – there are many ways to learn life’s lessons.

Oracle: This is a time for the transfer of higher knowledge and wisdom. In this situation you may find that you are the teacher, the ‘Master’, or the pupil, the ‘Disciple’. Remember that it is often the teacher that learns and the pupil that teaches. Perhaps it’s time for listening to your own higher wisdom. The teacher can inspire great personal achievements through teaching the wisdom that the ‘Disciple’ is ready and willing to learn. These lessons can be on many levels, from the purest of teaching and education all the way to downright emotional manipulation: the teachings that are being passed on can be used to elevate or manipulate the thoughts and emotions of the ‘Disciple’. People will sometimes believe the message coming from the ‘Master’, without questioning, merely because of his charisma and presence. The ‘Master’ may have an alternate agenda that he wants to fulfill. There is sometimes a need to separate the actual person of the ‘Master’ from that which he is teaching, as they are not necessarily the same. The ‘Master’ is only human, after all. Someone having something worthwhile to say will find someone who will listen to it.

New Moon Solar Eclipse

The February New Moon is an eclipse! Eclipses happen when the Sun and the Moon join within 10 degrees of the transiting Lunar Nodes. Eclipses are known through out history to mark the beginnings and ends of cycles, movements, governments and leaders. Follow the degree of the nodes, 27-28 and the lunation, 17-18, of the fixed signs to see the areas impacted in your own chart.

It is interesting to note that the eclipse takes place at the same exact clock time as Pluto entered into Capricorn for the first time since 1762. All over the world, Pluto entered into Capricorn last week for the first time in our lives while this week the eclipse takes place at the same exact time in a 24 hour day. I think the Universe wants us to notice! On the east coast of the USA, the clock time for both the Pluto ingress and the Solar eclipse was 10:44. That time adds up to a 9, marking an karmic ending of sorts. Notice what time the New Moon Eclipse and Pluto Ingress took place in your neck of the woods to see what the time tells you about the energy. Further, break the numbers apart between hours and seconds, so for the east coast of the USA, the 10 is the 10^th house or Capricorn’s domain while 44 adds up to 8, which is Pluto’s domain.Works for me!

Of course, because the two cosmic events were at the same clock time, the charts between the Pluto Ingress in Capricorn as well as the New Moon Eclipse are nearly identical regarding the planets zodiacal placement and the house alignments. Separated by only 12 days, a Jupiter number, we notice a very subtle shift of the very large stellium in Aquarius, Chiron, Mercury, Moon, Sun, Neptune, Vesta, and North Node moving into the 4^th house of security and home from the 5^th house of creativity and children. The balance of the planets, Saturn, Mars, Pluto, Jupiter, and Venus stay in the same houses they were found in during the Pluto Ingress chart.

The eclipse, as the first new moon lunar event after the Pluto ingress into Capricorn marks, describes and illuminates what we can expect the first part of Pluto’s journey into Capricorn to be about. Pluto starts his journey in Capricorn, but will back up into Sagittarius for a wrap up of the last degrees in late spring, over the summer and into early fall. Pluto doesn’t firmly commit to Capricorn until fall arrives. BUT we will see during and through this first pass of the Pluto Ingress and New Moon eclipse lunation a very clear message from the cosmos of what we are supposed to focus on here on earth.

There are SIGNIFICANT differences between the Pluto ingress and the eclipse chart. Since the Pluto ingress, both Mercury and Mars have stationed, shifted direction and started to move in new directions. Mercury in Aquarius is the ruler of the now forward moving Mars in Gemini. Mars in Gemini is still out of bounds (way out in fact) as he slowly starts to pick up steam. He’s moving SO SLOWLY but he IS moving forward again. With Mars going so slowly, it is like a slow, energy of trying to move a very full, full bookcase ~ slow inertia but once you get it moving, it will slide along the floor, rather rapidly, if a bit creakily. Mercury in Aquarius is moving backwards now. He’s been lurking in Neptune’s gassy inspiration and fog of hope. He’s going back into it. Normally Mercury in Aquarius is brilliant. He’s still brilliant but he’s also high on Neptune’s illusions so he’s not seeing things clearly at all. PLUS Mercury is driving the car of both Saturn in Virgo and Mars in Gemini while under the influence of Neptune so to speak so you need to watch him carefully. He’s not in complete command of his faculties. As Saturn rules Pluto, Venus and Jupiter, Mercury also has influence over them, and probably NOT a good influence. Or at least not a clear influence.

Look carefully at the period of time between Pluto’s entry into Capricorn and the New Moon, between January 25^th to February 6^th. That was an exceptionally turbulent set of planetary activity when our communication and our action planets were both stopped in the sky. Our planet guides are going over that section of time as well as the events with a giant bright pink highlighter! Make note of all events, big and small, that took place ~ keep a quick 12 day diary ~ record what and who you talked to about what and who as well as what you heard and saw. The heavens are laying out the next major part of your life. Also note the white parts ~ the parts that didn’t get highlighted. They are important too! The solution to the highlighted situations can lie in the unhighlighted parts.

The eclipse is part of the 10 North series. According to Bernadette Brady’s book, The Eagle and the Lark, the cycle began on April 25, 944 and ends May 27, 2188. “There is a strong emphasis on communication and at the same time, frustrating or inhibiting events may come into the person’s life via news, paperwork or a young person. The person may feel tired and drained. Therefore it is a good time to take things quietly and work through the difficulties one at a time.” It is a NORTH node eclipse meaning things ARRIVE in your life or appear to invite you to move forward into your life as the Sun and the Moon form their monthly union near to the north node of life’s direction, calling and purpose. The eclipse is partially visible from Australia and falls over the Antarctic suggesting changes in those parts of the world. As you can see, the eclipse cycle started many years ago, in 944 and is almost finished. It has marched from the North Pole towards the South Pole over the last 1,064 years bringing communication enlightenment as well as changes to the vision of who we are.

So how do you apply the energy of the eclipse to your life? I’ve been talking to numerous clients about casting out to the universe for their dreams on the upcoming eclipse. Take the time to meditate on what you’d like to manifest in your life. Give yourself and the universe a concrete, cardinal, and solid earthy list of what you would like to have come into your life. As always, be careful and clear about what you wish for. Working with eclipse energies tend to make things happen even faster than usual! Sit yourself down with the heavens and include representatives of the elements, air, fire, water and earth. Ask, out loud, and include the caveat of your desires being in service to and alignment with or towards your higher or greater good. Ask for things on your Jupiter/ Pluto list. (Remember, Jupiter is still out there hammering away with his Capricorn hammer!) The chart completely supports “ask energy” as Mercury retrogrades back toward the Sun, Moon and Neptune and sparks a new beginning as he does it. I DO caution you to add to the “ask energy” the disclaimer ~ “as long as it is for my higher good!” During energies like these we tend to WANT stuff that might not be the best thing for our being or our soul. And then when the stuff we ask for arrives in the service of an eclipse (karmic shifts) it tends to have that “stick with us” kind of cosmic glue that nodes create. I call it that giant sucking sound. So ask, but ask wisely.

The other thing to remember is the eclipse has Mercury retrograde enmeshed in the middle of a muddle. It is a puddle of hard to work with, harder to see through and dark as night (it is a NEW moon not a full moon) energies. Mercury has Chiron to his left, Neptune to his right, and the Sun and Moon sitting on his head. Even exalted, fabulous Mercury in Aquarius will have trouble keeping things straight with this energy and that many planets talking to him. And Mercury IS going backwards! So he’s not in that great of shape. So pause. Pause. Pause! Especially pause before taking action. What ever you THINK you heard, double check that you heard what you heard. Ask three or four friends if THEY heard the same thing you heard. Lots of potential for misunderstandings and mistakes and miscommunications on this baby! Mercury in Aquarius often, always, positively, completely, thinks HE IS RIGHT ~ and 99.999999% of the time HE IS RIGHT! But not now. Not now. Mercury is SO PRONE to misunderstandings, missed signals, bollixed up interpretations right now but he still thinks he is right. Can you see the potential for major mix-ups? Caution. Caution. Caution. No taking action unless you are completely, completely, completely clear.

The Mercury placements remind me of that very bad joke that Catholics tell. A monk was interested in studying the original scriptures. So he studied the ancient languages for years. He received permission to comb back through the Vatican texts, scrolls and tablets, tracing the history of the scriptures to their original source documents. He worked on his project for years and years. He was old and gray, close to the end of is life. All of a sudden, the other monks in the abbey hear him banging his head on the table, pounding his fist and crying out “No, no, it can’t be!” They run into the library to see what is wrong. He cries out, “It was a translation error ~ it was supposed to be CELEBRATE not Celibate!”

If you hear something under this eclipse DO pay attention but recognize it could be a complete misinterpretation on your part OR on the part of the person telling you the story of what they heard. Don’t take action and go off half crazed. Encourage them to listen and wait and see. Pause. Think if what you heard even makes sense! Breathe.

Sualocin, the fixed stars, is joined to Mercury, Sun and Moon. Sualocin is a practical joke played by an Italian astronomer on the rest of us. The name first appeared in a catalog published in 1814 without explanation. Sualocin is Nicolaus spelled backwards ~ he was the assistant to the head of the Palermo Astronomical Observatory name. Sualocin is a multiple star in the constellation of the dolphin or Delphinus. Sualocin/ Nicolaus is a great example of the reversal energy active and working during the eclipse.

According to Ptolemy, Delphinus is like Saturn and Mars while the bright stars Rotanev and Sualocin are Mercury/Jupiter according to Robson. It gives a simple appearance, cheerfulness, dissembling and duplicity, love of hunting, and sport in general but little happiness. Little happiness and love of hunting would not apply to Rotanev and Sualocin because they are not of Saturn/Mars nature. There is a fondness for pleasure, ecclesiastical matters and travel, but danger of suffering from ingratitude. It is a small but ancient constellation that is easily located in the night sky. The Dolphin Delphinus helped the sea god Poseidon win the heart of his wife, the mermaid Amphitrite. In another story Delphinus helped the musician Arion escape from sailors who attempted to throw him overboard and steal his belongings. The god Apollo was so moved by Arion's music, he sent the dolphin to carry him to the shore. The constellation can be found to the east of the bright star Altair in the constellation of Aquila, the eagle.

That said, the Sabian Image is profound for the other side of the eclipse energies. It very well might be true! What you heard could be a very profound and extremely deep reveal on the part of the person doing the speaking! The energy of the Sabian image is that of masking and unmasking. Have you ever been to a Halloween Party where the costumes are scary? How costumes shifts the energy and allow folks to be “different” than they are in “real life”. And yet, then they take off their mask and become who you knew them to be. There can be unmasking of deep and profound truths on this lunation. So watch for that energy too.

It is going to be a big eclipse! Remember, whatever happens, is for your greater good and moves you towards the next evolutionary step of your life. The choices you made while Pluto was in Sagittarius could have been very ungrounded or without thought to the consequences that are now flying at you and coming home to roost in the back yard of your reality and life. We are moving from mutable fire, spin a new story toward a bigger and better version of our reality Sagittarius into get real, practical, structured, responsible and be accountable, down to earth, take action and names Capricorn. It is a very large energetic shift for all of us as well as the world. The eclipse will show us how it is going to appear in our life. Commentary: ‘A Man Being Unmasked at a Masquerade’ shows the inevitable outcome for anyone who is participating in a ‘Masquerade’. He can get away with wearing the ‘Mask’ for a period of time, but eventually circumstances will lead him to reveal himself sooner or later. This could happen voluntarily or involuntarily. He may decide that it’s time to reveal who he truly is in his own time, or he may be forced to lift the ‘Mask’ against his own wishes.

17:33 Capricorn Sun and Moon

It is an extra, special and potentially very lovely and creative New Moon at 17:33 Capricorn. Most of the planets involved in the lunation are answering to Saturn in Virgo. That is great!! Mercury, in charge of Virgo, is found in his exaltation in Aquarius. Furthermore, Mercury is feral ~ having no Ptolemaic aspects (conjunction, opposition, square, trine or sextile) to any planet or asteroid in the sky. Feral means gone wild and is used to describe animals or plants that live or grow in the wild after having been domestically reared or cultivated or who are typical of a wild animal. When used to describe a planet, it means it can operate at its maximum levels ~ in this case, exaltation! That means Mercury gets to operate wildly and with OUT any of his normal relationship restraints with other planets. Completely exalted in his vision while not responsible for or answering to anyone ~ we’ll get to see the brilliance of our Hermes in his full glory and bloom. Watch out world here Mercury comes!

Next, Mercury DOES have two bi-quintile aspects to Mars and Saturn and a semi-square aspect to Uranus. Bi-quintiles are gifts of Genius. Bi-quintiles answer to the fifth harmonic of the chart’s deepest creative and most profound purpose for existence. We are incarnations of the heavens at the moment of our birth ~ you could say we were created to fulfill heaven’s (or God’s) intent of love and creation. We are each the fifth house of the universe‘s chart! If you think about it, the purpose of each and every life is to propagate themselves so the species and life continues.

Thus the 5^th and 9^th houses ~ as the children and children’s children, act in a creative, harmonious aspect to the Ascendant of each and every chart. We live to create. Then, once we are done creating, we are supposed to move off stage to let the young un’s take over and create their things. Now, if you think about it a bit more, some of us create children, or books, or art. But each and every one of us is here to create ~ that is why the fifth house is the house of pleasures, love, fun as well as children. We have fun when we create! We are a creation ~ a vision of the sky at the moment we were born. And if we are the Universe’s fifth house, then our creations are the Universe’s 9^th house. And so the cycle of life goes round and round!

But I digress, back to our dear feral, exalted Mercury’s bi-quintile to Saturn and Mars. Mars is still out of bounds, still retrograde and now Mars is in Gemini ~ so he also answers to Mercury, feral and exalted. And we know that Saturn in Virgo answers to Mercury, feral and exalted, while Saturn is in Virgo. Imagine, if you will, the lunation’s Mercury as YOUR toddler. Mercury strolls over to a harpsichord and sits down. You expect a plink, plink, plunk ~ Mercury’s a toddler after all. All of a sudden, instead of a few random, plunked notes, you hear profound music coming from the instrument as your toddler starts to play. It is as if Mercury already knows how to play, has practiced for years and all of a sudden, is creating and making music before your startled eyes. And, THAT is how you discover your toddler of Mercury is Mozart.

Fifth harmonics describe those kinds of Mozart skills available to each of us. And, yes, we all have fifth harmonic aspects to use and exploit on this lunation! Even you! You only have to look at your chart, especially your 5^th harmonic chart, to see how it relates to this lunation chart to spot what or where the creative aspects are. Or just push, a teeny tiny bit, at the forward direction you’d like to move in ~ that will do it too! Or listen for Mercury to whisper an idea in you ear. He will. Pay attention!

There is enormous creative energy available to us under the lunation. We also have Mars and Saturn in a quintile aspect to each other ~ the same kind of energy but a bit more practice is involved. A lesson or two is needed to draw the skill out. And Mars is approaching an air trine to Neptune ~ even MORE creative and inspiration energy.

The energy of the lunation is particularly profound in its gifts of creative energy. Fifth harmonics are the things we do effortlessly that other folks struggle with. They are the things where folks drop their mouths open and go “wow” at how easily we do it. Push the energy a bit to see how fast it can move you forward.

On the lunation, we have feral, exalted Mercury in a semi-square aspect to Uranus ~ we can get scared, sometimes, when we turn around and see everyone with their mouths open and staring at us. They are staring at us because they don‘t know how to process what they are seeing ~ a toddler playing Mozart. We go, “What, what did I do wrong?” Nothing. Don‘t listen to any criticism offered under this moon for something you do naturally, for some thing that seemingly evolves and appears out of nowhere. It isn‘t out of nowhere. It is time to move on. You figured it out. The open door is the universe’s sign to you to move forward. You are ready. You’ve done your work.

When we track the energy of the lunation back to where it finds its source, we keep returning to that Mercury, feral, exalted and involved in fifth harmonic aspects with Saturn and Mars. Saturn in Virgo, goes to it and back to itself as the ruler of Aquarius. Vesta, Chiron, Neptune and the North Node, all answer back to Mercury in Aquarius. The Capricorn based planets, Moon, Sun, Jupiter, all go back to Saturn and end up with Mercury in Aquarius as their ultimate ruler. Mars in Gemini goes back to Mercury in Aquarius. Venus and Pluto in Sagittarius ~ ruled by Jupiter in Capricorn go back to Mercury in Aquarius. Ceres in Taurus goes to Venus and through that route back to Mercury.

Mercury and Saturn are in mutual reception, allowing them to swap places with each other ~ amplifying the creative, productive energy even more of the Aquarian Mercury and Virgoian Saturn. Saturn, Ceres and Jupiter are in a Grand Earth Trine, pushing the creative energy to a new, higher and more profound level. Even if it is only the tiniest, smallest, more infinitesimal beginning, I want you to begin something under this new moon. If you can, begin 300 things! Begin 1001 things!

Begin things with the idea that you can change your mind down the road apiece if you want to. Begin things! This is way too powerful of a lunation to skip over because Mars is retrograde ~ besides Mars has quintile and bi-quintile aspects to Saturn and Mercury. So, yes, Mars is retrograde but SO MANY things have been born out of actions meant to go one way while the other way provided the eureka moment ~ mistakes so to speak ~ but powerful mistakes. Such is the new moon energy.

Post-it notes were a mistake. Chocolate chip cookies were a mistake. Rubber was a mistake. The pacemaker was a mistake. Silly Putty was a mistake. Coca-Cola was a mistake. Scotch guard was mistake. Christopher Columbus meant to sail to Asia and made a mistake. Penicillin was a mistake. The telephone was invented for blind people ~ not the rest of us. You get the idea. Out of mistakes or mistarts, powerful things can be created. Such is the type of creative new moon we have this month. Get yourself, your ideas, your vision, your-whatever-Mercury-is-telling-you-to-do, and your beginnings out the door and into the world so the universe can help you create.

Louis Pasteur, said, "Where observation is concerned, chance favors only the prepared mind," so make sure to observe the events that take place under this lunation too~ you never know what you might spot with Mercury so feral and exalted! All the planets answer to Mercury so talk your dreams out loud ~ you might mention a dream near someone who can help you make the dream come true~ how do you think Cinderella got to the ball? And wasn’t leaving her glass slipper a lovely mistake? It helped her prince find her!

Commentary: The Symbol ‘The Union Jack Flies From a New British Warship’ is an image of the need for protection and control. It pictures having to oversee and protect a large “empire” where reliability and leadership are vital to the welfare of the people. Having to make one’s presence felt and to guard one’s territory can be a tiring responsibility, but there is an awareness of the guidance and protection of “all who went before”. Effective supervision needs to be employed to protect what’s been won, sometimes at great cost, from others who might want to take it away. Countries, and things such as social and political constructs, all the way down to the individual, all need this surveillance and protection from those who might invade, attack or threaten. New Moon December 9, 2007

Our New Moon promise to be a profound and evolutionary beginning cycle for each of us as well as the world. The New Moon takes place at 17:15 Sagittarius. The profound nature of the Moon is described by what ELSE it does. The New Moon sets off, by activating opening square, the eclipse energy from the September 11, 2007 New Moon at 18: 25 Virgo/ Pisces. It awakens, again by activating closing square, the energy from the June 24, 2007 Uranus station at 18:41 Pisces.

Two days after the new moon happens, Jupiter and Pluto join together at 28:23 Sagittarius, squaring by closing aspect the other New Moon eclipse at 28:07 Pisces from March 18, 2007. The fact that Jupiter and Pluto are in the very last degrees of Sagittarius amplify the New Moon’s energy. Jupiter and Pluto are wrapping up a 13-year cycle from December 1994 and starting a new 13-year cycle in two days. Add that beginning/ending energy of the Jupiter Pluto conjunction to the new moon energy and whip in the energy from two major eclipses as well as a Uranus station! That is SO MUCH cosmic stuff rolling around and folding itself into one cute little old lunation! There will be quite a bit going on in our various emotional fronts as well as taking place in our lives. Two eclipses, a Uranus station and a Jupiter Pluto conjunction added to a new moon. How much transformation energy can one new moon take?

When we look at the lunation as a stand-alone chart, we find additional information to back up the enormous promise of brand new and exciting beginnings. First, there is a major stellium of five planets and the midheaven lined up in fiery, changeable and explosive Sagittarius at the top of the chart, cast for Washington, D.C. The pending Jupiter and Pluto conjunction, sits in the 10^th house, joined to the Midheaven, while the Sun, Moon and Mercury are place within a powerful sector of the ninth house. The Moon is out of bounds and moving slowly so emotional events taking place on this lunation will have a direct and inside track to our most primal places and cause profound expansions and evolutions.

Mercury, while approaching, by 4:22 degrees, a conjunction to the Sun and Moon, is also separating from a parallel to the Sun, by 0:05. Mercury is right near the edge of the ecliptic. Furthermore, Mercury is approaching parallel, by 0:17 and 0:38, to Jupiter and Vesta respectively. That makes Mercury operate as if it is combust the Sun and pulls the energy of Jupiter and home and hearth into the mix. According to Devore, Combust Mercury imparts to the mind a capacity for concentration upon what it deems its own destiny but robs it of its receptivity to distracting or diverting influences. That very activated combust Mercury, who is NOT overly happy in Sagittarius, is the ruler of Saturn in Virgo. Saturn is at 8:28, within 6 minutes of his upcoming station at 8:34 Virgo on December 19, 2007. Saturn co-rules Neptune, Chiron and rules Vesta, making them all exceptionally active and responsive to Mercury‘s single minded focus.

Jupiter, in charge of the Sagittarius stellium of planets as well as the Pisces ruled Ascendant and Uranus, is about to merge with the energy of the Lord of the Underworld. Jupiter is the jolly, gassy giant of the zodiac in charge of all things expanding. Pluto is the dwarf ruler of power at the icy edges of the solar system, is in charge of all lurking hidden beneath the surface. Pluto is in charge of Venus in Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio is in a grand trine with Mars, Athena, the North Node and retrograde Mars in Cancer.

Envision Jupiter joining with Pluto as he leads the North Node, Athena, Uranus, the part of Fortune, and the Ascendant as well as Juno, Mercury, Moon, and Sun into the merger. Venus, following Pluto‘s instructions will entice the folks in her grand trine to at least pay attention to the Lord of the Underworld‘s instructions and rulership. They will join the party. Mercury, always easily influenced by the company he keeps, is under the Sun, Moon and Jupiter’s sway. Additionally, Mercury is square to and talking with Uranus and Saturn forming a volatile t-square that shoots the energy into the Gemini areas of every chart.

Additionally, Jupiter and Pluto are separated by 0:23 minutes of time, the same amount of time that Jupiter is separated from the Sun ~ 0:23 minutes of declination. 23 adds up to a 5. The energy of five is involved with the process of risk and experimentation. Fives are captivated by the new, the unknown, and the unexplored. Fives love the challenge of blazing new trails and charting new territory. Fives craves variety, excitement and change. Change is the catalyst for excitement, adventure, diversity, and is the spice of life!

The image I keep getting is this thriving, throbbing, pulsing glob of evolutionary energy coming at us from all sides of the heavens and pushing us to transform and change, transform and change, transform and change! Can‘t you feel it? Can‘t you see it in the people around you?

Of course, we cannot fail to notice poor old retrograde Mars in Cancer over there, all by himself, as the unconscious handle of the bucket of planets pushing us all towards our individual and collective evolutions. Mars is going backwards, out of bounds and WAY, WAY out of control in an emotional, thin skinned, sideways moving, indirect and very sensitive, crabby, cranky placement. Mars cannot stand and fight. Mars wants to skittle away. Mars wants to cry in the corner. Mars might even grab onto something for dear life and hang on until he loses a claw or two. Or perhaps Mars will defend his territory like a cornered animal or crazed mother bear protecting her cub from danger. Mars is not going to be much help during our throbbing, pulsing, transforming and changing evolution other than to make us feel whiny, scared and like we want to pull the covers over our heads. Which, of course, we CAN do! Covers over our heads are a wonderful option (for a bit at least). But eventually you are going to have to get out of your bed and get back into the swing and stream of life. You are evolving, whether you like it or not. So if you are evolving, you might as well make the best of it! Think big picture. Envision the longer term. Focus on the dream(s). Do the Sagittarius part of the chart (it is kind of hard to ignore) and think outside of the box. If you aim for the stars, you might miss, but at least you will have shot your arrow into the air!

Commentary: ‘Tiny Children Playing in Sunbonnets’ is an image that brings to mind childlike, carefree fun in a protective, caring environment. The ‘Children’ are protected from the strong and sometimes fierce rays of the sun by wearing ‘Sunbonnets’. We can assume that their mothers or other carers have put them on for them. They don’t have to worry about sunburn and being exposed to the elements, all they need to do is play. Although they may interact with the other ‘Children’, some may just play their own individual games side-by-side with each other.

Oracle: In your situation, someone may be in need of protection at the moment, and it is most likely for their own good, as long as there is not a sense of being “overprotected” and insulated from having to be responsible for themselves. Without having to worry about complicated details and difficult consequences, the feeling of a sense of security and safety can lead to more carefree and playful moments. Don’t be distracted by efforts being made by others on your behalf, sometimes we need to be shielded by others from harmful elements. However, sometimes we also need to feel or intuit our way through the surface appearance of what’s really going on. There can be a sense of having to keep some emotion, or anger, away, so as not to disturb or frighten others, or ourselves but this may lead to having the “blinkers” on and not seeing life as it truly is. Is there a sense of naivety here and missing the real point of life? Is someone being kept in the dark, or kept from seeing reality? On the other hand, you may need to look after others and ensure that their well-being is at the top of the list of priorities. Approaching this question with a childlike, carefree attitude, whilst all the while keeping a true eye on the situation, will probably bring the message that’s needed. There’s a need to remember to play and have fun.

Scorpio Moon and Sun 17:10

Our New Moon, cast for the east coast of the USA, has a distinctly Virgo cast to it. Mercury, Vertex, Sun, Moon and Juno all fall in the sixth house of routines, rituals, habits and daily activities. Mercury rules the chart as the Ascendant is found on the world axis of seven Gemini ~ joined to the part of fortune smack on the Ascendant of the chart. That which we partner with becomes us! That which describes how we spend our days determines our life and our path through the world! We co-create our lives by our daily choices and routines.

Mercury recently turned direct but still finds himself in his retrograde shadow. On this new moon, Mercury is at the point of the 28 Libra, the same degree as the Saturn Pluto conjunction from Fall 1982. Back to then in time, we go to see a larger cycle of our life moving into a new direction. Remember what was going on back then in your life (or the life of your parents if you were not born or were young)? We started a new Saturn and Pluto cycle in partnership with creating our life. We recently had Saturn and Pluto in their closing trine from that conjunction ~ August 6, 2007. (Their opposition was the events around 9-11.) The next aspect up for Saturn and Pluto is their square in November of 2009. We are working with Saturn and Pluto separating trine energy. While Saturn and Pluto will each dance back and forth in early earth signs, they don‘t actually complete a formal trine in early earth even as they flirt with one. However, Saturn is the ruler of Pluto in Capricorn! Saturn is going to be in charge of the world once Pluto moves into Capricorn and starts answering to Saturn instead of to Jupiter. So how we do our Saturn work, and what we begin under this new moon and the next new moon is going to seed the next 13-year journey of Pluto through Capricorn. Yep, it is that big! Be conscious! Be careful what you plant!

Saturn ~ in VIRGO ~ what we do in our daily routines ~ is going to set the pace, focus, direction and purpose of our next 13 years of Pluto in Capricorn. That is very good or very bad news depending on how you want to look at it. For those of us who think that things miraculously appear, the universe is saying No, things happen because of a series of choices and actions. See the action, see the result. It is ALL CONNECTED and concrete, solid, earth. We gain weight if we over eat. We lose weight if we eat less. We write our book if we do a bit of writing every day. We dream of a book that never appears if we never sit down and put our fingers on our keyboard or place pen on the paper and move our hand. Virgo is about showing up, day by day, minute by minute, and doing the work. The sloggy parts of the job too.

Now for the good news: Jupiter and Pluto JOIN at 28:23 Sagittarius in early December right past that closing fire trine of August when Saturn and Pluto were at 26:33 Leo/Sadge. We have the two planets of society, the community, the collective, the karma, the results of things, the authorities, the good and the bad, the expansion and the contraction, luck and loss, Jupiter and Saturn, joining with Pluto at virtually the same degree of Sagittarius. And, perhaps more importantly, the three of them are all bunched up on the Galactic Center of the Universe. To me that union of Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto at virtually the same degrees, only separated by 3 months of time (which to the cosmos is less than an butterfly’s eye blink) sextile to the 1982 conjunction of what we partner with we create (Saturn and Pluto in late Libra) is profound. It signifies a MAJOR shift in consciousness available for all of us if we choose to take advantage of it. Again, free will ~ that if “we choose” part is critical to the equation! It is a SEXTILE ~ we have to choose to exercise sextiles! Sextiles do not do anything or make stuff happen without a bit of energy applied to them. We have to ask them to work. However, IF you apply energy to those sextiles in your or any chart, they, very nicely, in a 6th harmonic way, create the change we need to move forward in our lives.

Next year, Jupiter and Saturn dance back and forth, three times with each other in earth signs, a trine between Virgo and Capricorn. We have to work at stuff to make it happen. However, the combination of Jupiter and Saturn in Earth in a trine with the advantage of the sextile between the two of them and Pluto means we can transform things rather radically, should we choose to do so. Again, the should we choose is critical here.

Right now, under this new moon is the time is for planning, deep planning and evaluating what you want to do with your life! Our Scorpio parts will dig in with their intensity under the new moon! Next month, the new moon at 17 Sagittarius takes place two days (or cosmic fractions of a hummingbird second) before the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction in Sagittarius setting the stage for the next 13 years. That new moon is also in aspect to the September new moon eclipse and transiting Uranus in the teens of the mutable, life changing, end of cycle sign Pisces. To have a change, we have to dream the possibility of a change first.

Do not let your dreams under this moon be limited by what the old processes and procedures are or were! Be a bit radical. Be dairing. Be bold and brave. Seek your dreams and hopes out from when you were young. Seek the energy of change in your life. Say what you want. Ask the heavens. In the fall, after the leaves fall from the trees and we can see through the woods that surround the roads we drive. We come to understand that what the trees have hidden with their foliage all summer long is exposed for the entire world to see. We can see what is hidden by the trees ~ the houses, the landscapes, the land, the streams, and the frolicking deer. Look at your life in such a manner under this new moon. What is normally hidden behind the trees? What is exposed now for the world to see since the leaves have fallen in your life? It is okay! Honest. It is okay. It is as it is supposed to be. You have to look! Fall is a season that permits us to see that which is normally hidden by the rush of life and the cover of green life. Scorpios ALWAYS see through to the secrets hidden in the brush. The nice part about this new moon is we all are honorary Scorpios. We can ALL see through to the secrets hidden in the brush.

The good part of this moon is we being able to see what is hidden behind the trees in our lives. The leaves have fallen ~ or will fall darn soon as Sun moves past his closing square to Neptune in a couple of days. Moreover, NOW that we have seen, we can never go back. So what do we want to do about it? That is the most important question you will answer for yourself for the next 13 years of your life! Be wise. Be brave. Move toward what you want. At least think about, make a list and plan what you want. Thirteen years is a darn long time to be stuck doing something you do not love. It also can be fabulous if you are doing something you love.

So what do you love!? What is your Saturn. We both know you love him even if he does make you nervous. Make sure to go and do a bit of what you love each and every day. Make it a habit. Make it part of your life. Do your Saturn. Give yourself permission to create the life you want to have.

A QUIET PATH THROUGH WOODS BRILLIANT IN AUTUMN COLORING

Commentary: ‘A Quiet Path Through Woods Brilliant in Autumn Coloring’. The ‘Quiet Path’ is the ‘Path’ that one should, or perhaps must, take in order to finish something or accomplish some mission. The ‘Autumn’ leaves are a symbol of change – the energy of the recent growth is returned to the earth in preparation for the next growing season. There is a feeling of transition as the leaves decay into the vegetation.

Oracle: In the situation facing you, fruitful success is now behind you. It is the dramatic preparation for change that has resulted from the fruits of your labor that surrounds you now. It is now either on or just after harvest time and everything is changing. Take a deep breath and infuse yourself with nature’s gifts. This Symbol can also represent the opportunity to consider and reflect on the success of your recent activities. If there hasn’t been success or productivity then there is nothing more that can be done as the “season for harvest” has now finished. Winter is coming and with it the need to recuperate and restore energy. It is time to let the past go and prepare for making new plans. New Moon at 17:30 Libra

Our new moon lunation falls in the Via Combusta, or the Path of Fire, in the heavens. In the ancient days, the Path of Fire was considered a rather nasty place. It is a cluster of fixed stars ranging from late Libra to early Scorpio that tend to be activated when difficult events were observed taking place on earth. A certain kind of predictive astrology, Horary, forbids the astrologer from reading the chart when its ascendant falls in the Path of Fire. A birth moon was considered to be afflicted, as if it was eclipsed ~ at or near one of the nodes~ if it fell into the Via Combusta. Additionally, our lovely moon is moving very slowly through the heavens, so we will all be feeling fiery passions and emotions via the impact of the Path of Fire igniting and flaring up the energy in the lunation chart.

The Sun is conjunct the moon and is the Ruler of the Chart cast for Washington, D.C. The Sun is in the Via Combusta too. Venus in Virgo rules both the Sun and Moon found in Libra. Virgo is one of Venus’ least favorite signs. She’s not an easy going, benevolent and loving Venus as her energy can be more critical, counting and waspish as it stings with accurate but oh such unpleasant criticisms. In addition, Venus is bearing down rapidly towards forming a conjunction with Saturn in Virgo. Venus will form a second important conjunction with the South Node of loss and release, right after she joins with Saturn. Not fun.

Mars is ALSO in one of his least favorite signs, Cancer, as he slows down and approaches his retrograde station. Mars is out of bounds, adding a wild energy to his unhappy, insecure and needy behavior. We recognize Mars does not like being in Cancer as Mars cannot take direct action boldly and bravely as Mars prefers to do. However, please do not underestimate Mars! Cancer Crabs and Mother Bears, both highly symbolic of Mars in Cancer, are known for their ferociousness when feeling threatened or under attack. Not content to merely growl, bears attack if you threaten their beloved cubs. Crabs attack too ~ ferociously yet in a round about way, grabbing hold and never letting go. We go back to the Moon to see the condition of the cranky, cardinal, action taking, and whiny Mars in Cancer. We find ourselves back to the moon found in the Via Combusta and joined to Sun, the ruler of the Chart. So an aggressive, ferocious, scared yet cardinal Mars which feeds off the lunation energy found in the Path of Fire. That is A LOT OF ENERGY!!! It will be a very active lunation as the lights and Mars are in Cardinal signs, even if it turns out to be unpleasant actions that takes place.

Keep in mind that Mars is getting ready to station. His retrograde journey will involve us in a six-month drama around rehashing the energies of Gemini and Cancer ~ siblings, communication, family, mother, nurture and security issues. Mars, deeply into his shadow and preparing to go retrograde, wants us to make sure to be clear about the causes and sources of our actions. Are we taking action because we are insecure? If so, the lunation will be teaching us lessons. Are we taking action to move ourselves cautiously forward? If so, the lunation will be teaching us lessons. Are we in the mood to attack someone like a mother bear or crabby crab because they are threatening something we love? Well, look at what that energy is reflecting back to you about your own needs, desires, hopes and wishes. Mars in Cancer is wild AND whiny. He also is a bit sorrowful as he recognizes families or groups are in the mood or desire to end. Things do end, even if we wish they wouldn’t. Often, we do not much like endings in our lives. However, THIS lunation has a very ending feeling to the new beginning. We actually WANT this situation to end. Or at least change into something else. That is why we are so frustrated by it.

Mercury is the ruler of Venus in Virgo. Mercury is in Scorpio. He acts as a flavoring for how that Venus in Virgo is going to show up as the ruler of the lights found in Libra. Scorpio takes us back to Mars and the Moon found in the Via Combusta. Are you starting to get a sense of how intense and important the lunation is? Mercury is sitting on top of Lillith. Lillith was Adam’s first wife. Did you know that Eve was a trophy wife and actually Adam‘s second spouse? Lillith did not want to be subservient to Adam. She left him. Adam was heart broken. God made Eve from his rib so she wouldn’t leave him.

Lillith has a fairly dark mythology. She steals the sperm of men as they sleep by seducing and causing their nocturnal emissions. She makes her demon babies with their stolen sperm. Frankly, I like to look at her mythology by lifting up the veil of the patriarchal sperm control freak energy she seems to carry for the collective. When you lift her veil, it makes her a rather likable kind of gal. Lillith wants babies! Lillith is going to make her babies however she can ~ including using stolen sperm via dream seductions. Lillith refuses to be submissive to those men who are unwilling to donate their life force. So she takes their sperm as they sleep. Is it just another version of the Robin Hood story? Robbing from the rich to give to the poor? Or is it something else?

Mercury next to Lilith rule and imbue the forming Venus/ Saturn conjunction in Virgo with meaning. While your project may seem like it is not ever going to come to fruition because of the energy of the lunation, not to worry. The purpose of everything up until now was to get you ready for the NEXT phase, whatever it is. Think of it as practice, practice, and more practice! The universe loves to have us practice creating! Venus joining with Saturn gets us clear about what we want to create. We are all a bit like Lillith on this new moon. The hell with you, (insert the name of whoever the apparent denier of your cosmic sperm is), you control freak you! If I can’t get it from you, then I am perfectly capable of creating with some one else. However, I WILL use what I learned from YOU to help me create it. They may not want you around because you aren’t subservient enough. They may not like you because you don’t conform. Wouldn’t you rather have their respect any way? Isn’t that better than having them like or love you?

Jupiter and Uranus just perfected the last of their three square sky dances with each other two days ago. They are separating now. Jupiter rules community, international, organized religions, beliefs and connections. Uranus rules change, computers and chaos among other things. Change and chaos in the established communities and connections between yourself and your world. The first of Jupiter and Uranus’ three squares was January 22, 2007 at 12:26 Sagittarius/ Pisces. The second square was May 10, 2007 at 17:56 Sagittarius/ Pisces. The final square was October 9, 2007 at 15:35 Sagittarius/ Pisces. For those of you who follow the sky patterns, you undoubtedly recognize those degrees as being the same degrees as the mutable eclipses formed in March 2007 and September 2007 as well as the degrees where Uranus in Pisces stations and finishes up his journey next March. We start now to wrap up the Jupiter Uranus story of change to your community that began in February of 1997 in your Aquarian house. We start to prepare to integrate the psychological processes of change and expansion to our community as we approach the balsamic phase. The next Jupiter Uranus conjunction takes place on the world axis in 2010. We move towards it with a firm, yet expanding and evolving understanding of our place in the world.

Pluto is joined to Vesta suggesting there is an end ~ or a transformation ~ to the home and hearth energy in mutable fire energy of Sagittarius. Time to break apart the fire found in the fixed hearth of our home and heart. Time to put that energy into tiny, moveable forms and send it out into the world in a new form to help light the way. Think candles lit from the warmth of the fire in the fireplace and sent out into the world. Ceres in Taurus is moving retrograde on the Jupiter / Saturn conjunction from May 2000. In a sense, the ending or migration into the world that you are experiencing NOW was inevitable based on what you have been working toward since that conjunction took place in Taurus seven years ago. Do you see how it all connects? Be gentle with yourself. Understand that there is a purpose to every season. A purpose to every thing under the heavens, even the things that might not feel fabulous in the immediate moment. All part of your soul’s evolution.

There are a number of other aspects that have helpful, supportive and illuminating components or energies ~ Mercury square to Chiron ~ says take the learnings to help your self expand to see the deeper truths in the experience. Saturn is opposite Chiron by declination. Mars opposite Vesta by declination. Sun is joined to Uranus by declination. Moon is joined to Chiron by declination. Mercury is joined to Pluto by declination. Combining the declination energies with the lunation chart, we find lots of energy pushing us forward to our next phase in a resolute, okay, I am going on with my life kind of manner even if the stuff I am wrapping up right now is hard to leave or separate from. Time to move on with my life.

Neptune is sextile to Jupiter. These two expansive energies are encouraging us to follow our dreams and seek those dreams out in the wider world instead of where we currently find ourselves. So, just perhaps, maybe, we are NOT going to find those dreams of ours where we currently find ourselves. However, we DO see the potential. We have our dreams. We DO see where or what our dreams could become, maybe with more work or different skills or their potential. Sun and Moon are joined to the asteroid Psyche. Psyche learned whom she was married to once she agreed to LOOK at him clearly. After she LOOKED at him and lost him (or perhaps the illusion of the who he was), she worked very hard, on various formidable and seemingly impossible tasks set before her by Aphrodite to get what she wanted. Once she recovered the love she had ‘lost’, she realized her new version of the lost love was a fuller and more complete relationship. It was a love of both herself, as an equal mate, joined again with her former mate, Eros.

While there are many difficult and stressful aspects (did I mentioned the semisquares between the Sun/ Moon and Venus/ Saturn or the other semisquare between Mercury and Pluto?), the stresses and energy of the lunation will make us clearer, cleaner, and more precise in what we desire. The semi-squares will help us partner with ourselves to create the freedom or changes that we desire in our lives.

We often forget that we have enormous skills to co-create our lives when we single-mindedly dedicate our focus towards changing the things that can be changed in our lives. The frustrations inherent in the lunation in the Via Combusta, always coming back, coming back, and coming back yet again to that intensity found in a Path of Fire will make us change our lives. It is time to change our lives.

Commentary: ‘Two Men’ are ‘Placed Under Arrest’. They have to ‘Give an Accounting For Their Acts Before the Tribunal of Society’. They are standing before some representative or authority and speaking about how they have acted against the rules and codes of ‘Society’. The fact that they are ‘Placed Under Arrest’ doesn’t have to mean that they are literally taken away by the police. This can show that they are held back by circumstances, people or experiences and they feel stuck, unable to move or stripped of their freedom. This can be rather compromising to one’s integrity, ideals and strength of character.

Oracle: With this Symbol, people’s ideas or actions may be under criticism or examination, to the point of feeling that someone has offended social responsibility and acceptability. Some may have to justify or explain themselves, and relationships can be held in limbo until all the facts come to light. There may be a need to be thoughtful about the situation, because it may be nothing but a suspicion at this point. The “case” could well be dismissed, with people forgiven or let off the hook, but with suspicion in the air, what permanent damage has already been done? Often a sense of trust and a belief in the goodness of people and things is necessary. New Moon Solar Eclipse

The imagery I get for the new moon eclipse in Virgo is one of those water powered toy rockets we had back before all the “unsafe toys” were removed from childhoods. You clipped the rocket onto the launcher and filled the chamber thingie on the launcher with water. You pumped the handle, over and over, to build up the water pressure in the chamber. You pumped the handle until it couldn‘t be pumped any more. You aimed your rocket and pressed on the red release button. WHOOSH! The water powered rocket took off to fly through the backyard before crashing to the ground. More often than not, I got nervous right before I pressed the red button, winced and ruined my shot ~ shooting my rocket sideways or crooked instead of straight up. Rockets would shoot in all sorts of directions, including into the ground! My brother liked to shoot his rockets along the surface of the ground rather than up into the sky, mimicking a submarine’s torpedo. Other neighborhood kids would pump and shoot off their rockets with various degrees of launching success and skill. Our fathers (It was an adult supervision toy!) always seemed to be able to send the rockets sailing high across the sky after pumping the pressure for a long, long, long time.

We have a mutable cross on our new moon eclipse. The energy can go any where on a mutable cross! The eclipse will act like those volatile, water powered rockets of my childhood. It might launch perfectly! Or your aim can be off. Your pumper may not be pumped enough so your rocket doesn’t launch very well at all. Your rocket might shoot into the ground. Your rocket shoots high into the heavens to crash to the ground successfully. Your rocket gets trapped in a neighbor’s tree or lands on a garage roof or crashes on the driveway and cracks. Some one near you might shoot a better or different way than you choose to shoot ~perhaps a torpedo missile scooting across the ground like my brother or maybe aimed towards the hated younger sister like my neighbor David used to. His sister hated those rockets! The fathers ALWAYS shot the rockets so much better than we kids did. And then, after it landed, we’d fill it up with water, pump up the pressure and shoot it off again! So that is our process for the eclipse ~ Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo.

A mutable cross demands we adjust and change as we practice our growing skills and attempt to manage the energy shooting off in all directions. Often, there are too many variables active to predict where or when or how your rocket will launch under the eclipse and the mutable cross. We DO know your rocket WILL launch! There is just too much energy flying around for nothing to happen in your life. You have to pay attention and adapt. Keep your goals in mind. Adapt. Change. Watch your rocket. Aim for what you want. See where it goes when you press the launch button. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo.

Please know that you will have the opportunity for do-over launches if you don’t like where your rocket goes. You’ll actually have a few launches. Between now and mid-October, we are going to be shooting our rockets out into the heavens over and over and over again! Between now and early March 2008, we are going to perfect our skills and be able to predict, with a reasonable amount of accuracy and skill, where our rocket will land based on the number of pumps, amount of water in the tank, speed of pressure placed on the red release button and direction the rocket faces. Between now and early March, your job is to practice, practice, practice. The only way to get better is to practice. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo.

Please also know your rocket might break or crack or have some kind of problem(s). That is part of the mutable energy cross too ~ it is not predictable. You have to adapt and change as circumstances demand. You can always get a new rocket at the store tomorrow or share some one else’s rocket until you get another one. Your rocket may land high in a tree, necessitating finding a ladder in the garage and a climb to retrieve it. If your rocket lands on a garage roof quickly climb out your bedroom window before your mom catches you, retrieve it and launch your rocket again. Again, Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo if necessary. Launch again.

The mutable cross is VERY volatile. It is a VERY volatile new moon in Virgo. And we have the unpredictable energy of an eclipse added to the mix. The mutable cross has Uranus in Pisces square to the Jupiter/ Pluto midpoint in Sagittarius and square to Mars in Gemini. Those four planets bring dangerous, frisky, explosive, competitive, expansive and yet kind of fun energies when used appropriately or channeled. Yes, as my mother would remind us, you can put out an eye with one of those rockets! But you can also have a great time! Remember, it is a water pressurized flying rocket which you are, some what, in charge of or control of. You get to pump it. You get to choose the launch time. You get to press the red button and send it off into the heavens. Your skill will develop with time and as you practice. And, most important, you get to aim where your rocket goes. Water pressured rockets require adult supervision and a level of skill and competency to shoot correctly it off into the heavens. Unfortunately, or fortunately perhaps, YOU are the adult in the room. No dads are around to supervise. Are you ready to launch your rocket? Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo.

Now, the hard part about the eclipse is there are no guarantees. Of course, there never are in life. But we do love those guarantees. The point of Saturn in Virgo is to practice, practice, and practice. It is a process sign. A working sign. A mutable sign. Some signs work. Others lie around eating bon bons. Virgo works. Virgo launches. Assess where and how it went based on what you did (we also call this criticize but I much prefer assess). Redo or fix if we don‘t like it.

Venus is opposite to Neptune on the eclipse. One of the nice things about Neptune opposite of Venus is we know our dreams come true. We have dreams. We pursue dreams. I want you pursuing your dream, with passion. Argue for your dream and it comes true. Venus opposite Neptune. Pursue your dream. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo.

Neptune is inconjunct to the new Moon as well as in aspect to the other points in the mutable cross. That means Neptune is involved in the energy pattern, dousing the process with a wet blanket or making the dreams require adjustment. Well, with those rockets, we got wet! We dipped them in the bucket of water to fill up their chambers. We sometimes didn’t press the red button hard or fast enough so the water pressure exploded and drenched us like a crazy hose. My brother did that a lot too. It was a very messy toy. Your dream is a messy dream. It isn’t completely formed at this moment. You are moving toward it. It will require adjustments as you launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo. You might get soaked. It was a dangerous toy! The mothers in the neighborhood HATED those water rockets. In addition to being able to put an eye out, make us climb on the roof or up a tree, we often came home soaked and either exhilarated or wounded by our efforts. All part of the process. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo.

Place the eclipse chart over your natal chart. In the Virgo house, that is where you are to launch your rocket. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo. Just keep doing it over and over and over again. That is where the new moon falls and the beginning of the process of what you are to accomplish while Saturn is in Virgo. Payoff comes as Saturn moves through that house.

In the Gemini house, Mars is where the other guy is ~ your competition or your brother or the neighbors. It is where your rocket can go wrong because an outside force intervenes. It is where your skill level may produce mixed results or distractions take place. There is where my brother is shooting it along the ground like the torpedo. There is David shooting at his sister. There are the fathers launching their rockets perfectly or where you have a memory of them launching their rockets that which makes you criticize your own efforts. The Gemini house is the distraction place. You can get off track in the Mars in Gemini house with too many options or choices or comparisons. Remember ~ focus on YOUR rocket! Ignore the other guy! It isn’t about comparing yourself to others. It is about YOUR life! Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo.

The Pisces house holds Uranus. This is the wait and see house. We aren’t going to know how it turns out for a while. Go back to March and June of 2007 to see what you are waiting and seeing about. We have to wait until Uranus gets back to 18, which is in the beginning of March 2008 to see what happens in this part of your life. In the mean time, you can get soaked, have unpredictable things happens, or just laugh and laugh as the rocket lands on the roof or in the tree or knocks over the lawn chairs. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo.

The Sagittarius house holds Jupiter and Pluto. We are using the midpoint of those planets in this house. This is where the rocket is going to go! The story from 1994 about expanding your choices and exploring your value is coming to an end. A new story, a quest story, a follow your path story, a fire, passion and vision story will begin in this house in December, when Jupiter and Pluto join forces again for the next 13 years. Between now and December 2007, I want you practicing, practicing and practicing. Your skill will be assessed by outside forces in December. I want you ready to demonstrate how good you are at launching your rocket. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo and perfect your technique as many times as you can between now and December. Based on how good your rocket goes, you might even get on David Letterman, or be asked to do special effects for the school play or something! What ever and where ever the universe is going to take you unfolds starting in December. Launch your rocket. You will get an opportunity around your rocket in December. In the meantime, you need to build skill via practice. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo. Practice!

The Leo house holds Venus. This is why you’ve come to love launching your rocket. Venus is in the house that Saturn was in for the past few years. All your hard work resulted in the outcome before you. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo. You’ve learned how much you love what you have worked to create.

The Aquarius house holds Neptune. Yep, that old life of yours dissolved right before you. Your old life dissolved to get you to this place. The fathers aren’t out here showing you how to launch the rockets. Your mom is talking on the phone and doesn‘t know you are launching the rocket. You are your own authority now. Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo. Don’t like it? Launch. Assess where and how it went based on what you did. Redo. Get soaked? Well if you go in to tell your mother or try to change your soaked clothes, she’ll make you stop playing with the rocket. Look ahead and go for your own objectives, doing the best you can is the best you can do, after all!

New Moon August 12, 2007

Our new moon takes place in the middle of a line up of planets in the fixed, fire sign of Leo. Arrayed together and all connected with and to each other are Mercury, Moon, Sun, Saturn, and retrograde Venus. The Leo planets trine retrograde Pluto in Sagittarius, making a closing or integrative trine to the transformative power of the Lord of the underworld and evolution. When planets are in a closing trine, we see and experience their energy for how easy it is to create, harvest or generate productive and useful things with the considerable combinations of the energies involved.

The tension of the opposition is past. We’ve experienced the power of the opposition and the no, pick my side. We’ve seen the planets in a face off across from each other, pushing and pulling, dual in nature, shooting at each other like in the Wild West at high noon duel in the middle of town. They forced us, asked us, and described for us the differences between the two sides. We felt that they were so different from each other.

The closing trine is the two planets going off to have a beer and chat things over at the saloon after their shoot out of the opposition. They actually are friends, those planets. They need each other to create things ~ combinations of energies which help them create. Now the planets as buddies, the shoot out of the opposition was for you to see them as two separate actors. Think of them as friends now. The shoot out was to help you understand how they want to create. The ease and flow of the closing trine results in the planets working cooperatively together to create life, existence, crops or whatever it is they are creating in your life.

The Sun and Moon are opposite to Neptune, engaged in burning off the fog of the Saturn- Neptune opposition. Once the Sun arrives, that morning fog disappears. It’s been at least a year long fog ~ but boy is it burning off quickly under this new Moon and hot summer Sun. Neptune is opposite Venus, Mercury and Saturn too ~ conjuring up those dreamy summer days, stretched out in a hammock with a glass of lemonade and a book. There is an inconjunct of Mercury to Uranus asking us to adjust our thinking and understandings, adjust our beliefs about the things in our lives. What IS important to us?

We don‘t often think about combinations of energies any more. Back when we were more agriculturally based, we were much more in touch and aware of how things interact with each other to create life and things in our world. Now, we go to the store and buy a piece of chicken, ready made, seasoned and in cute little cutlets to cook for dinner on our gas barbeque. We didn‘t have an opportunity to watch the egg appear, gestate and hatch, feed the birds with grain we grew and stored in our barn, see the chick grow to adult hood, catch it, kill it, pluck it, cut it into pieces and season it. We bought it cut and seasoned from our grocery store. We skipped all those earlier steps!

And, we didn’t have to go cut down a tree and saw the trunk into logs to create wood in small enough pieces to barbeque the chicken after banking our previous day‘s fire to make sure we even HAD fire to cook on. We went to the store and bought a tank of gas which we light with a push of a button when we want fire in our portable fire making barbeque. We didn’t even talk about the foxes and coyotes who want to eat our chickens every night or the time it took for the chicken to grow up to be edible or the torrential storm that almost drowned the darned birds.

The planets in their eternal dance remind us of the ever present energy of cycles and all the steps needed to get to where we are now in our lives. While WE may not have grown and killed the chicken, someone else did, out of OUR sight perhaps, but the process took place. It is the only way to get a chicken to eat for dinner ~ we, or someone, has to follow the many steps to get where we are. It is the same thing with our lives.

While we may not be conscious of HOW we got to WHERE we are in our lives, we took all sorts of steps to get here. Closing trines give us the harvest, the results of what we’ve been working on and toward, consciously or unconsciously. It is a combination of things that create that chicken ~ mother and father chickens, food, water, space, time, and a person to go get the chicken and perform the necessary steps to get it ready for our dinner table. It is a combination of things that create where we are in our lives.

So, we find ourselves at the eve of the barbeque of the chicken. Time to harvest and cook the chicken ~ closing trine. Time to start to feed and raise a new chicken ~ new moon. Or do you want to raise a new chicken? Maybe you want a sheep or pig or goat? Or perhaps a cow? Perhaps you’ve decided to turn vegetarian and just eat veggies going forward? Do you want to give up chicken raising altogether and move to the big city and buy chickens cut up at the store? Or perhaps head off to manage a restaurant in Hawaii and tell people how the chickens were raised?

This is the last new moon in Leo while Saturn journeys through Leo. Time for you to make decisions. The new moon in Leo says to each of us, “You have finished your journey of Saturn through Leo. You are wiser now. You know how to create. You’ve learned to raise chickens (or whatever you’ve been working on since July 2005). You understand the nature of creativity. You understand what is needed in your life to create, nurture, love or be passionate about. Great! Now, what do you want to do NEXT as Saturn gets ready to journey through Virgo?”

Saturn in Virgo will be about perfecting our individual journey of creation. Raising it, harvesting it, apprenticing to it, editing it, proofing it, fussing at it, cleaning it up, practicing it, feeding it, and making a good solid, life long habit of it. Before we get to Saturn in Virgo, we have a few more questions to ask and answer of ourselves.

Venus in retrograde Leo is approaching her second conjunction with Saturn and closing trine to Pluto. Venus says to each of us it is all about love and our desires. If we have love and desire it, we will find ourselves much happier as we move through the process of our lives. What do you love and desire? When we see, find or create what we love and desire in our lives, we know we are home. So what do you love? How can you make it part and parcel of your daily life? How can you make what you love a habit and component of your being? As we all move into the working, perfecting, assessing, quantifying, evaluating and qualifying energy of Saturn in Virgo, remember Saturn in Leo. IF we remember these gorgeous, glorious summer days when Venus danced with Saturn and Pluto in the last degrees of Leo, we know what we love! Our new moon bright and early on the east coast, just after sunrise, is a doozy! I love powerful new moons for their potential and creative ability. They are a marker of a powerful new cycle of creation and beginnings. New Moons push our desires out into the world to take form like seeds do those joyous sprouts of life in spring.

When I was first learning predictive techniques, I said to my teacher, “So does that mean EVERY new moon is a new beginning!?” As we were studying eclipses, the kinds of new and full moons that we can‘t fail to “notice”, he responded, “Yes, but not that many people pay that level of attention to their lives and regular lunations.” We will always notice if the lunations fall on planets in our charts or are eclipses. But when the lunations land in a random house, stimulating the nature and purpose of the house, we can completely pass them by due to the hustle and bustle of our daily living and activity.

You are not going to be able to pass this new moon by! It is taking place in the Cancer house of your chart at 21:41 degrees of Cancer ~ starting a new story in that house and section of your life. It is right next to the world axis, suggesting a shiny, brand new beginning that you will be known for or will move out into the world in a public way. It is the FIRST new moon after the long Saturn/Neptune opposition we’ve been working with over the past year as our fixed structures have been dissolving and our dreams have been taking shape and coming into form. It comes at the end of Saturn in Leo’s journey and evokes the passion and love you’ve developed over the course of that journey for who you are and what you are here to do.

Venus, at the last degree of Leo, is joined to the star of the kings ~ Regulus ~ or queens. Venus speaks to our desire nature. Venus asks us to incorporate our desires and passions into our daily routines as she waltzes back and forth between Saturn and Pluto through now and the end of October.

New moon charts are evaluated based on their aspects. Neptune, of the long standing opposition with Saturn in Leo, is inconjunct the new Moon and Sun in Cancer in a Virgo type of format. It is a very tight inconjunct, suggesting a physical or bodily adjustment is in order and absolutely required on the new moon to take advantage of her energy. It is a great new moon to start or create a new physical or structural life style, diet, quit smoking, get more exercise or organize your life to create space for what you are looking to grow over Saturn’s journey through Virgo. It will require you to get up off your butt and DO something! But, is not a false or fake invitation. It is a get off your butt, take action and it actually HAPPENS due to the new moon‘s energy. If you take action towards making something happen and it will. In fact, it will take place very easily!

The Moon is out of bounds at 25:20 Cancer ~ adding a bit of a wild card to the lunation. Think of the out of bounds moon as a loving fairy godmother appearing and blessing your pumpkin and turning it into a coach, your house mice converted to coach men, as your rags are turned to a beautiful, sparkling gown with fancy glass slippers. You are, deep inside, Cinderella, right now. It is time for you to go to the ball. The energy of the moon has that feel to it.

Now, the CAUTION with the out of bounds energy combined with the Mars square to Chiron is the following conversation taking place: Cinderella says to her fairy godmother, “Oh the hell with all that stuff and your silly magic wand. Nice trick! But right AFTER the fabbbb-u- lous ball at the castle, I am going to be back here, cleaning out the cinders in this stupid fireplace and washing my stepsisters’ dirty laundry. All that pumpkin and sparkly dress is doing is making me hope for something that will never happen! And besides, even YOU told me I have to be home by midnight as that is when the magic stops! That means I don‘t even get to go to the after parties at the cool clubs! You know what? I am SICK AND TIRED of being disillusioned by my dreams and hopes and fancies NEVER COMING TRUE! I think I will stay home, right here, by myself, cry a bit and have a cup of tea made with my used tea bag as a lump of coal smokes in the fireplace!”

We like the story of Cinderella. It offers us a rescue fantasy from our lives and teaches us to believe in the future or dreams. Of course, we never do learn that the Prince picks his nose and farts. The fantasy ends with happily ever after. Now, we are each grown up enough to know that happily ever after is a fairy tale too! But what of the original story? What if Cinderella DIDN’T go to the ball? What happens then? The whole story rests on her taking that ride in the pumpkin coach and dancing with the prince at his ball and losing her glass slipper as she bolts out at the stroke of midnight to avoid turning back into a rag clothed Cinderella before all the people at the ball!

The purpose of the long, dry, Saturn opposition to Neptune was to disillusion you about the possibility of a fairy god mother appearing in your life and waving her magic wand to create a bugle beaded dress, and pumpkin coach to rescue you from your life. I know. You are disillusioned. The purpose of the Mars square to Chiron is to say “Nope, not in this life, baby, you are in charge of the cinders and that is all you can hope for!” Well, let’s revisit the choices and voices. Yes, they ARE options. You CAN give up and sit by the fire with weak tea, cold and shivering, crying as you sweep out the ashes and cinders every morning. There is no such thing as fairy godmothers in your life! Right now, it might feel like you are Sisyphus pushing your rock endlessly up the hill.

Want to know a secret? You are your own fairy god mother baby!

You’ve been sewing your dress, in secret, for the past few months after you’ve finished your chores, late at night. You‘ve been working on it when you are so tired your back aches and your most fervent dream is to go to bed. The light from the fire place is bad so it is hard to see to thread the needle for your bead work. Why did you decide to put so many stupid beads on the darn dress any way? Hand beading is such a pain! And that pumpkin coach with the mice driving it? Please! We are talking mass transit for you! A metro card and a city bus are in your future! That is how you are getting to the ball. Or perhaps walk? Well, you COULD spring for a taxi or maybe rent a limo but they are darned expensive and the driver is from a foreign country and you‘ll be stuck in a limo line FOR EVER waiting your chance to walk down the red carpet!

Not to worry. Pick up your needle and sew a few more bugle beads around your neck. Your life awaits you! It is time to get dressed for the Prince’s ball. Do what you love and you are living your best life! Start walking toward your next life and the Prince’s ball. Save the limo money for an omelet at the all night diner after the ball and the after parties. Besides, if you start NOW to walk toward your next life, everyone can see your beautiful, sparkly, beaded gown as you move while the sun sets in the west and Saturn leaves Leo. All the townspeople waiting by the red carpet, watching the people go into the ball, will be thrilled to see you up close and personal. Who knows, one or two of the townspeople might even order a dress from you for next year’s ball …. (remember to bring your dressmaking business cards!) Then, if it doesn’t work out with the prince, you can start your own dressmaking business, buy an apartment with a gas fireplace to stop cleaning out the cinders and hire someone to do the bugle beading...

Commentary: ‘A Young Woman’ is seen ‘Awaiting a Sailboat’. She has hopes in mind that something special will either arrive or happen in some way. There is a strong sense that some ideal she’s hoping for will come to her if she waits long enough. Often there is delight in looking forward to a particular pleasure or event. However, sometimes it feels like one’s “ship” will never come in. The ‘Young Woman’ can be left waiting for a long time. She may miss other aspects of her life by not paying attention to what’s readily available. Viewed positively, the ‘Waiting’ can lead to a pleasurable anticipation of what, or who, may arrive. Sometimes we actually vicariously enjoy it in advance, dreaming of what rewards may come.

The new moon cast for June 14, 2007 forms a wide, loosey goosey, mutable t-square with Uranus in Pisces, Sun and Moon in Gemini and Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius. Loosey goosey t-squares hold volumes of possibilities as they direct our attention toward a particular part of the zodiac. It is also a MUTABLE t-square meaning there are numerous ways it can show up. We are moving out of fixed, fixed, fixed energy into the flexibility of the seasons change ~ spring into summer, summer into fall, fall into winter, winter into spring ~ that part. The kind of not knowing what to wear during any day at it will have myriad temperatures, events and possibilities. Mutable energy is changeable energy ~ more about the change than the status quo. The outlet for all the energy of the t-square is the empty Virgo leg ~ where Saturn soon will take up residence. Virgo ~ whose ruler Mercury in Cancer is the co-ruler that Moon/ Sun union in Gemini.

In the myths, there always is an initial event, often an event which the community witnesses. We witness it but do not always know it is the beginning of the new journey or the next phase of the journey. The witnessed event marks the next phase of the journey of the soul. We may not know it as such. In hindsight, we go back and say “hmmm, remember when that happened?” Start the new journey does this week, under this new moon! It starts, often literally moments before or as the old story ends. There is a cosmic jumping off point. Mercury steals Apollo’s cows. Pluto abducts Persephone. Phrixus escapes on the Golden Ram. Eris throws an apple amidst a party saying it is for the most beautiful goddess of all. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single, seemingly innocent (or perhaps not so innocent) act, step or moment. We have such a moment this week, under this new moon.

Mercury in Cancer in aspect to the North and South Node suggest the event, especially if unspoken or emotional, is the marker or signal for the next phase of your cosmic and earthly journey. Look to things at 11 Cancer or 11 degrees in your chart to see what planets or folks will be involved. And, of course, look at your Virgo ruled house as that is where the action will be taking place. The south node rolling through the last degrees of Virgo will clear out your older habits, rituals, routines and responsibilities. Virgo will dispense with or re-organize many of your older or decayed habits, rituals, routines and responsibilities ~ so brand, shiny, new ones ~ yep, new habits, rituals, routines and responsibilities, can develop. Remember Saturn starts to go through Virgo in the fall. When that happens, we are going to be in apprenticeship to our Saturn, working with him, being trained to understand how he wants us work with our Saturn energy. Saturn’s goal while in Virgo is to teach us how to master our skills, to improve, to discern and support us as we approach independence and becoming a master and equal with our Saturn so we can work in a true partnership with him when he moves into Libra in a few years.

We are comfortable with the initial events when they involves happy things ~ getting married means we will live happily ever after. Our new law degree means we will have a fabulous career as a brilliant attorney. Buying the house of our dreams and signing the mortgage means we’ve arrived at a cherished goal. We find out we are pregnant when the second stripe appears. Our partner’s terrific new job will mean we can afford to start a family.

Well, not so fast. Once we GET what we say we want, we then have to learn to work with it. It is a funny thing about humans. We get something and are thankful for it. Shortly thereafter, we take it for granted and look for the next bauble or dream or goal to come to us. Whatever “it” was becomes our new assumption of a minimal base ~ we never think it will go away or be less. Yet, at the same time, it IS yesterday’s news. In the case of food or a paycheck for work performed, this makes perfect sense to us. In the sense of achieving a cherished goal and then saying “NOW what?” we can get a bit resentful, maybe even angry. We expect that sublime state of achievement to last forever. Nope. That is not how it works here in Saturn‘s world. The universe is right there behind Saturn saying, “Ok, now that you’ve finished with this what is next?” And, slowly, stealthy, on silent cat’s paws, that sublime state of achievement fades, slips and moves away. And we find ourselves putting the stain remover on our graduation outfit as we wash our face before going to bed. We‘ll clean up the graduation party mess tomorrow.

So watch for the next phase of the journey to begin under this new moon. The old structures are going to retire and the new forms or structures will be introduced. The baby arrives and they plunk it in your arms ~ you look at it as it starts to cry. Our partner is gone all the time working crazy hours to prove themselves at their new fabulous job (which appears to have the same kind of politics that made them leave the last job). The wedding memories are long gone but you still write that monthly check to your credit card holder paying it off. You don‘t much like practicing law ~ it isn’t the higher minded thing you thought it was going to be ~ it is arguments between people not getting what they think they are due and figuring how to prove it for them. The house of your dreams needs a new roof since the old tree in the front yard blew over so you feel very house poor. You get the idea.

So back to your life this week. Look forward to find out what Saturn in Virgo is going to mean for you. Life is about putting stain remover on the spots and doing the dishes! And cleaning up after the party. Saturn in Virgo is coming in!

CAREFREE CHILDREN SKATING ON ICE

Commentary: ‘Carefree Children Skating on Ice’ symbolizes the freedom and pleasure of ‘Children’ enjoying themselves outdoors, even though it’s winter and cold outside. It also reflects the general lack of concern that they have for issues of personal danger. ‘Children’ learn at an early age to ‘Skate’ over difficulties. They are often ‘Carefree’ and unconcerned. They will often take risks when they play, unaware of the true realities and possible dangers in life. They keep ‘Skating’ and playing, but need to be carefully aware of what’s going on around them; otherwise the game could fall apart. There is the possibility of losing the pleasure they are experiencing as cracks form in the ‘Ice’ – their joy and pleasure becomes more risky.

Oracle: If your situation is “on thin ice” it may be challenging, but it may be that most of the challenge comes from the fears and concerns that adulthood brings. Sharpen up your senses and your reflexes so that you can cope with any sudden surprises. Even if you have a positive attitude you may sense that everything could collapse at any moment. Listen for subtle changes in the environment that tell you whether you are still “safe” in your surroundings. If you don’t acknowledge these fears and adjust yourself accordingly, then you may be put at a disadvantage. Perhaps an avenue of escape should be set up in case cracks in the ‘Ice’ do start to appear. Dangerous situations can lead to a heightened sense of awareness and fun, but how long can one feel safe taking such risks? Sooner or later the cracks will start to appear. What will happen then? Similar to the ‘Children’, you may not even be aware of the risk in your situation. Be wary not to blindly rush into anything, as you may get to the point where you can’t safely return to where you began. Watch out for the cracks! Listen carefully for clues to how to maneuver through

difficulties.

Cosmic Sneak Peak! Cosmic Sneak Peak!! Upcoming attractions! Our new moon in Taurus on May 16, 2007 will give us a sneak peak at what our journey of Saturn through Virgo will entail. We are going to see a cosmic movie trailer of what our Saturn in Virgo journey will involve. Saturn in Virgo will ask us to work with or on our Saturn skills to develop, perfect, assess and balance Saturn’s contribution to the world. We will become apprentices to Saturn while we work with him and through him when he is in Virgo. Now Saturn in Virgo doesn’t officially “happen” until September when he leaves Leo and enters the sign of the skilled maiden and valued craftsman. However, like all things, our future is based on the choices and actions taken in our past and present. The New Moon in Taurus will cosmically sum up and conclude what we’ve learned from our journey while Saturn was in Leo and get us ready for our next step ~ Saturn in Virgo starting in the fall. Ready or not here it comes!

First, I want you to cast a chart for the Saturn/Jupiter conjunction for May 28, 2000 at 11:05 am EDT Washington, DC (or your current location on earth and your natal chart). Make the Saturn/ Jupiter chart be the base chart. Next I want you to put the May 16, 2007, New Moon chart for Washington, DC (or your current location on earth and your natal chart) against that Saturn/ Jupiter chart in a synastry wheel so you can see what I am talking about. Any planets that within 5 degrees of each other count as having an aspect! Pretty amazing eh? For those of you without a computer handy, SJ is the Saturn Jupiter chart, NM is new moon chart in the paragraph below.

D) SJ Ascendant and Athena are joined to NM Saturn (Washington, DC chart) in Leo. E) SJ Ceres IN VIRGO in the second house) is joined to NM Equatorial Ascendant, Part of Fortune and Ascendant (Washington, DC Chart) ~ what the whole point of the Saturn Jupiter conjunction in Taurus is for! F) SJ Pluto is joined to NM Vesta in Sagittarius. G) SJ Chiron is joined to NM Jupiter in Sagittarius. H) SJ Uranus and Juno are joined to NM Neptune and Chiron all four are in Aquarius. I) SJ Moon is joined to NM Mars in Aries. And those are only the conjunctions! There are a number of cross, square, trine and inconjunct aspects too! What a juicy and delicious New Moon in Taurus this one is going to be ~ pointing us forward and towards the purpose of the Saturn/ Jupiter conjunction that kicked off a new 20 year cycle in May 2000. F) It is about going back into your soul or you heart’s fireplace hearth for warming, finding and embracing the burning embers in your being and depths. G) The old soul wound from before is bathed in the healing energy of purpose. If you hadn’t experienced what you had to go through, you wouldn’t be able to use it NOW to help others and create the life you want. H) The whole point of life is to figure stuff out and teach others in the community and tribe how to do it too. We build on the shoulders of those who went before us. I) Impatience is a virtue! The New Moon in Taurus illuminates what and how we are to do the next phase of our Saturn/ Jupiter journey. Often when a new cycle starts, we go “hmmmm how is that going to show up?” We look for clues in the chart of the conjunction to see what it tells us about the cycle about to begin in our world. Both Saturn and Jupiter joining in Taurus want us to make a concrete, earthy, solid, and valuable contribution to the world and humanity while they travel around the zodiac in their 20 year journey through the heavens. We were each born to serve a purpose as described by our chart. We are here to learn what our soul sought to experience by incarnating on the cross of matter at this time in human history.

The purpose of Saturn heading through Leo over the past few years was to SQUARE the 2000 Taurus conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn and get that conjunction moving along and creating things. The purpose of the square was to make you take action with, crystallize, clarify and clear OUT (via a crisis of consciousness or familiar emotional conflict) any old Taurus stuckness, slowness or plodiness. It was about giving yourself permission to do what you love. The square harnessed Taurus’ bull. The square got the bull to plough the fields and plant crops. The square brought Leo sunshine, joy, creativity and love join into the mix of what you are creating in your life via the 20 year Jupiter/ Saturn conjunction. Now that Saturn has almost finished his journey through Leo, we’ve seen how our fixed parts required a bit of sunshine, creativity and love from us to help us make our lives. They are about as glorious and wonderful as our fixed parts can be right now!

So why is this new moon in Taurus a sneak preview of our upcoming journey of Saturn in Virgo? Well, Pluto is inconjunct, in a Virgo style inconjunct, to the Sun and Moon in Taurus. We are learning how to adjust and transform our individual vision to create what we want. So often we don’t understand the process of creation. We, by contributing emotional, intellectual and spiritual energy towards our wishes, help create those same wishes in form. Now, we can create easier stuff or harder stuff. We create what our soul said it wanted to learn about when we were up on the cloud before we incarnated.

And, like all things in astrology and the world, there are better uses of the energy and more difficult versions. How the planets show up on a good or bad day so to speak. Energy, as described by the planets in signs, houses or aspects are not right or wrong. They are only energies. We can use energy well or not so well. It is our call how we choose to use it. That is why we are conscious critters so we can be aware of our choices!

The problem with the lunation chart, if one can call it a problem, is the Sun and Moon are sitting on the fixed star of Algol, bringing Algol‘s energy into the chart. Algol is one of the nastier stars in the sky ~ associated with great tragedies: war, mass murder, violence, mass disasters like earthquakes, piles of corpses, fires, plagues, and mob violence. Algol was Medusa’s eye on her beheaded snake covered head! Algol is a blinking star ~ an eclipsing binary ~ which like a giant cosmic eye blinks for two hours every 68.818 hours. Additionally, our star watchers announced a major collapsing star right near Algol in the heavens ~ so we astrologers pay attention to THAT kind of news! Once we are aware of it, we integrate the new cosmic energy into the charts to see what they tell us. So major collapsing star near the most difficult star in the heavens all involved in the new moon lunation. Hmmm. Going to be fun.

We can expect a sudden collapse of things as the way the Algol energy will show up in addition to the usual Algol characteristics ~ literally transforming or disappearing in a “blink of an eye”. When you hear people using that catch phrase about something that left their life, it is often Algol’s position or action in their chart. As Saturn and Pluto are in opposition declination to each other, it will probably be structures that we think of as secure and safe ~ financial institutions, governments or corporations’ as well physical building kind of structures. Going to be interesting.

When Algol is involved in a lunation or planetary picture, it often means we as a culture (or as individuals) must come to terms with violence and the darker side of the human experience. We don’t have to STAY in the dark side but we DO get to go through it, witness it and watch it. We must confront and assimilate the harsher aspects of the human condition into our being.

So, confront your fears and look at the things you are afraid to look at in your life. Understand how they were part and parcel of how you got to where you are now. If you continue to embrace your fears and refuse to look at the things in your life that require looking at, you will have a long, and not particularly fun, struggle with Algol while Saturn is traveling through Virgo.

The entire point of Saturn in Leo is to get your to LOVE your fears. The entire point of Saturn in Leo was to get you to LOVE at your fears as the creative wellspring of your being even if you‘d rather cut their heads off and kill them. Your fears are what drive you. So get to KNOW what your fears are and MORE IMPORTANTLY, understand how those fears inhibit or contribute to your behavior. That is really what Algol asks us to do ~ look at our shameful, embarrassing or difficult parts. Then we are to confront and assimilate these harsher aspects of ourselves into our being rather than giving them away to someone else. They are part of us! We need to claim them and take them back. Once we claim ownership, we can begin to work with the energies instead of having them flying willy nilly all around our lives being brought to us by the folks in our lives.

If, on this new moon, you look at your fears, understand their source and acknowledge how they drive your being, Saturn in Virgo will be about learning how to productively work with your fears, (your karmic material) like a skilled craftsman works with basic raw materials, to get those fears of yours integrated into you and training them to do your bidding. We construct our lives out of those basic materials ~ what we fear and love.

If, on this new moon, you avoid or let your fears grow or run unchecked or unfettered, Saturn in Virgo will be about your fears get more and more critical, wild, crazy, worrisome or problematic.

It is your call. If you go hang out and work with your Saturn, he’ll take care of you! As the lunation, with Algol blinking for two hours every couple of days, lights up the Taurus Saturn/ Jupiter conjunction from 2000, work with your Saturn! The reason I’ve keep telling you to do your Saturn is because Jupiter can take care of himself. Saturn is why you incarnated. Saturn is for what and why you are here this time. Saturn is your job. Now, we tend to want to side with Jupiter and ignore Saturn. Saturn will not be ignored! He knows, even if you don’t, that the reason you are here is to do your Saturn ~ all the other stuff is frills and sparkle and glitter and butterfly barretts for your hair. The other wandering stars are decorations to support your core purpose ~ your Saturn.

The Sabian image for 26 Taurus is A SPANIARD SERENADING HIS SENORITA. Lynda Hill’s interpretation of the image is:

Commentary: ‘A Spaniard Serenading His Senorita’ is a lovely image of singing, music, romance and love. The ‘Spaniard’ pours his heart out to his beloved in the hopes that she will listen and respond to his advances. Beautiful words and music can lift the spirits and we all need a little romance now and then! The ‘Spaniard’ is ‘Serenading’ his love, his ‘Senorita’, who may or may not know the depth of his feelings. Whether she accepts his advances or rejects them, this will not stop him from celebrating his feelings in a show of emotion.

Oracle: In this situation there is no guarantee of getting your message across, but you must act if you want any chance of success. It is by being brave and confident enough to put our feelings on public display that we can convince others of our sincerity. We will begin to Serenade our own lovely Saturn with passionate songs of creation, love and joy ~ and all the other Leo words. Get out your guitars, flutes, drums, pianos, or violins! Start practicing. It is time to serenade your new love with all your heart and soul. And, please know that you will be serenading your love in public, in front of the marketplace, your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers as well as cranky folks who don‘t have a clue WHAT you see in your love and will criticize you. Yep, singing in the square, practicing with your Saturn, in public, for all the world to see! Start practicing! Do your Saturn!

27:05 Aries Sun and Moon

A shiny brand new moon at the last degrees of Aries right as Saturn stops in the sky, stationing to go direct in Leo. Hmmmm. The Sabian image for the new moon is A Large Disappointed Audience. Could Saturn or a new moon disappoint us? Well, THAT would be a change! J But I think I know what the Sabian image is telling us.

As I get ready to write the column, I print out the chart and study it. I noticed that two of the most important planets in our new moon chart have declination aspects to the asteroid Orpheus. Saturn the planet of fixed nature and endings is joined to Orpheus. Pluto the planet of evolution and change is opposed to Orpheus. Orpheus has many myths but the one that struck me on the new moon right before Saturn stations to go direct was the one about his dead wife.

A bit ago there was a play on Broadway called Metamorphosis. It included the myth of Orpheus. His wife died suddenly, on their wedding day, when she stepped on a snake. He mourned her. He was unable to go forward with his life. He pleaded and played beautiful music for the Lord of the Underworld and his wife. Pluto and Persephone softened and said ok, he could have a second chance. They would give him back his wife. However, Pluto set the condition that Orpheus had to precede his wife up OUT of the underworld. Orpheus could not look back until he got to day light. If he looked back, Orpheus lost his wife forever.

During the play, the looking back part of the story was shown and told three times as the narrator posed questions to the audience. A mythological instant replay of sorts on the stage. The scene involved Orpheus looking back as Mercury lead his dead wife behind him out of the underworld. During each replay, the narrator asked questions of the audience. Orpheus looked back and Mercury held up his hand, stopped, and turned to take his wife back to the underworld. Had Orpheus kept his vow to not look, what would have happened? As he hadn’t kept his vow, the narrator asked what do we do when this happens ~ do we regret forever what we couldn’t, wouldn’t or can’t do? Can we move on? And, finally, what of his wife? She was irrevocably changed by her time in the underworld. Would she even BE what Orpheus dreamed of ~ was she even real?

So as Orpheus aspects Saturn and Pluto in the sky ~ inquire of yourself the same questions. Orpheus is joined with Saturn stopped in the sky saying the ending or the time to move on is now. Of course, you can always look back ~ we do have that free will thing which seems to get in our way at times. Now is such a time. No looking back! If Orpheus HAD followed the rules to not look back and gotten his wife once he got into day light ~ what would have happened? What is the Orpheus situation in YOUR life where you want to look back?

Orpheus is opposite Pluto saying the evolution and transformation has happened. Where do you go now? If you trust the process and move forward with your life, you get what you want. If you look back, all will be lost. Hmm. What is the Orpheus situation in your life where all will be lost if you don‘t agree to evolve?

For months, all the astrological sites have been promising big, big, big things for the Saturn direct station and upcoming trine to Pluto. That big, big thing doesn’t happen this week! Saturn merely starts to move forward. Pluto told Orpheus he could have his wife back if he didn’t look back as he left the Underworld. Orpheus is moving. Orpheus can see the daylight at the end of the tunnel of the underworld. Oprheus has an opportunity to GET what he SAYS he WANTS. Then, in his whatever, anxiety, nerves, fear, he lets it all fall apart by looking back, going back and falling back into his fear.

You are going to be in the shadow, literally the shadowy tunnel at the edge of the underworld between now, when Saturn goes direct. You are talking to Pluto and Saturn about the inevitability of change. You will completely clear the Underworld and leave the tunnel when Saturn gets to the 25:04 Leo on July 25, 2007. The next few months will feel like a repeat of last fall in many ways. You will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Do not look back. Just keep moving toward the light. Trust the process. Trust your evolution. Trust Pluto. Do your Saturn. Move toward what your dream is. Do not be afraid. The future is moving and you are moving.

If you are overcome with fear, just pause for a moment. Stop dead still. Ask that your guides help you. Orpheus could have said, “Hey is any body following me? Any body back there? Mercury, give me a shout out will you?” Orpheus could have stopped to listen for footsteps behind him. He had other choices besides looking back. Don’t look back. Wait for your dead wife or new project or whatever you are working on to come and join you at your side. Keep on doing your work. Keep on doing your Saturn. Don’t look back. Stop if you are nervous. Catch your breath. Then keep moving forward.

The balance of the New Moon chart is lovely. Jupiter and Pluto are in a trine to each other. Mercury in Aries is fast approaching Jupiter and Pluto. He will form a grand trine in fire to Jupiter and Pluto creating a huge whoosh of energy in a few days. If Orpheus was REALLY nervous, he COULD have picked up the pace and broken into a run toward the edge of the underworld. He didn’t have to trudge, trudge, trudge up the hill, worrying. He could have whistled. Or chanted a Mantra. Or swung his arms and wiggled his butt. He could have played kick a stone up the hill toward the entrance to the Underworld. He was only forbidden to look back! Mars and Uranus in Pisces are straddling the North Node of destiny asking you to move forward on faith. Move toward the change even if you are not a 100% sure what exactly it will be like. NO looking back!

Mars in Pisces rules all the Aries planets ~ Sun, Moon, and Mercury. The Pisces energy in charge of the New moon and Mercury are all asking us to rely on faith and keep moving toward our dreams. Keep moving even if there is NOT a guarantee. NO looking back. Once you are OUT of the underworld, you can talk about it all you like. You can laugh about it. You can set up a picnic blanket right in front of the entrance to the underworld. But for right now, keep on keeping on. Keep on moving toward the daylight at the end of the tunnel. Don’t look back.

The thing I love about Astrology is the unfolding of the circles and circles of evolution over time. You are evolving right now. Have faith. Trust the process. It is as it is supposed to be. Your chart even describes it! You are right where you are supposed to be. Just be in it. Evolve. No fear. Move toward the light of the you that is in your dreams. Have faith. Move toward what your desire is. You can take a rest if you need to. You can run up the hill screaming and singing if you want to. Just don’t look back.

Commentary: ‘A Large Disappointed Audience’ implies that a performance of some kind or something that was done was not what was wanted or expected. People have witnessed or experienced something that was a ‘Disappointment’ or a letdown. It’s hard to know just what or how much the ‘Audience’ was expecting, but it is clear that they weren’t happy with the performance or outcome.

Oracle: You might feel as though you or someone else has failed and left others wanting. But how much is this because too much was expected in the first place? The ‘Audience’ only remembers the last performance, so get up and try again, but this time be more realistic. Be aware that in drawing this Symbol you may be an observer (in the ‘Audience’), or you may even be your own ‘Audience’. Does this picture a situation where you are living through the responses you receive from others? Do you feel that you’ve let yourself down? Sometimes it is necessary to acknowledge when an idea or action needs to be dropped or stopped, to be able to cut your losses. The entire point of Saturn running through Leo is to get your fixed parts to change and evolve. Let them. Be kind to yourself. Be gentle. Don’t look back. Do your Saturn.

New Moon Eclipse March 18, 2007

Choices, choices, choices! Under the partial new moon eclipse taking place on March 18, 2007 we will be facing choices in our lives. The eclipse is visible in Asia, China and India so those geographic areas and peoples on our blue and green globe spinning in the void of the cosmos will be exceptionally active, facing and making choices over the next six months. However, we ALL will experience the energy of the solar eclipse as the globe feels the new moon energy at the very last degrees of Pisces.

Eclipses at the last degrees, the dying or anaretic degrees of any sign, mark major final, finishing endings and major brand new beginnings. Eclipses at the last sign in the last degrees of the zodiac, like this one in Pisces, mark endings of major development and enormous evolutionary cycles in our lives, the world and the lives of all around us.

Think about it. Haven‘t you noticed a particularly poignant series of calls to move towards your future, even if you aren‘t 100% sure WHAT exactly your future is or HOW it will show up? Haven‘t you noticed that the old stuff ~ old patterns, old habits, old routines, old structures, old beliefs, old situations, old relationships, old people, old places, old things, old sacrifices, old service issues, old choices, old decisions, old work, and old feelings all want to shift into some sort of new form?

So let the old stuff alone. No picking at it or worrying about it or nagging at it. It is in the process of changing. Saturn is taking care of the old stuff. He’s large and in charge. Saturn’s got a plan and he‘s working his plan. Saturn is working on transforming your old stuff and getting it ready for your new life. Let the Saturn guide and direct the old stuff shift toward the new form it is going to take. It is one of those have a bit of trust in the universe and in your Saturn to do the right thing kind of moments. Leave your old stuff to be quiet and alone with Saturn. Leave your old stuff to sit by and with Saturn. Saturn has your back.

Now, there IS something you can do! You can work in tandem WITH your Saturn! Go and finish up what you can CLEARLY and CLEANLY accomplish ~ do the work that is before you. Do the work that needs to be wrapped up. Do the work that will finalize the current chapter and phase of your life. Shred the papers, organize the files, clean out storage devices, throw out stuff, clean up databases, release, restructure, revise, reorganize, revision, rebuild, renovate as Saturn continues to go backwards towards his station mid- April. Do your Saturn by finishing things up and letting the finished items head off out into the world. Pack the boxes, get the real estate agent over to check out the house, do work towards where you want to go. All these tasks are good uses of Saturn as he goes backward. Also do the Saturn things you love to do ~ the fun parts of your Saturn. Avoid the vexing and worrying parts of your Saturn. Let Saturn handle the worries, vexes and old worn out parts while you concentrate on the stuff you can do something about.

The other thing you can do is work with Neptune ~ dream, envision and make plans ~ life plans, business plans, career plans, and dream plans. Make a list of all the things that depress you about your life ~ what would you like to see or have change in each and every one of these areas?

The thing to remember is Saturn is still moving backwards so it feels like you future is not moving forward right now! That is how it is supposed to feel. Stuck, stalled or waiting. Inert. We are waiting. We are revealing. We are learning things. We are seeing things. We are letting go of our old patterns, problems and issues. Until Saturn moves direct ~ mid-April, it is a time of exposure and revision and recognition of what has gone on. You can’t DO anything about it but become more and more conscious. You can go and look into it. You can learn to understand it.

The eclipse features Mars in Aquarius just past his broken hearted tribal wound of Chiron and about to join with Neptune. The resonance of the energy asks us to move resolutely toward our vision of what we seek regardless of the support (or lack of it) from our community.

The three, Chiron, Mars and Neptune, are opposite Saturn in Leo ~ bouncing the energy back and forth between the planet of structure and the planet of illusion. Saturn co-rules the Aquarius planets asking them to examine their pride, their loyalties, their king, their belief in the rules that they follow. Chiron, Mars and Neptune offer a direct challenge to the Saturn in Leo saying “What deceptions are you asking me to believe in now?” Mars, flying high in cool, fixed, airy Aquarius asks us to detach, detach, detach. Look at things below you and before you with a different, 20,000 foot vision or a magnifying glass or a shift to see the optical illusion of Saturn’s reality.

Take a perspective that lets you see the big picture rather than the local drama of what is happening before you. It isn’t about the local drama. It is about the bigger picture of what the local drama reflects in your understanding of your life. Laugh at it. Delight in it. See the drama for what it is ~ a structure or belief that is not what it seems to be or used to be. It is a structure or belief that has out lived its usefulness or function in your life. You’ve actually evolved past that belief. Or perhaps outgrew the belief. It was, perhaps, your parents’ belief or society’s belief or maybe those rules you were taught to follow when you were younger. Now you are wiser.

The other co-ruler of the Aquarius planets, Uranus, is joined to the north node in Pisces. Uranus on the node says go with the flow. No worries. No stress. Just follow the energetic stream of consciousness and joy toward what you want. Similar to how an eagle catches a rising current of air and soars higher and higher, just ride the energy of the eclipse to see what you can see, soar where you can soar and ride the river flowing in your life forward.

Pluto exactly squares Ceres in Pisces who is joined to the new Sun and Moon. Pluto’s square to mother earth and her abundant creative energy at the edge of the world axis has a profound cleansing and releasing effect. You are at a turning point. You are at the end of an era. The Pisces planets are ruled by Neptune back caught in his argument with Saturn about the nature of reality in your world.

Do you see how your reality is shifting in the last degrees of Pisces? Your new reality is not yet born but your old reality is definitely past its expiration date. Is your old reality still good? Is your old reality spoiled? Sniff your reality to see if you can still get a last meal or perhaps a bit or two out of it. Be prepared to throw your old reality away if it has spoiled. The energy of Pisces at the dregs, the cliffside, perimeter, the conclusion of the zodiac promises a new beginning. Of course, first this major cycle has to come to a conclusion and then the new cycle begins. Help the alchemical process of transformation along. Light a candle to begin the dawn of a new cycle in your life while you wait in darkness for the ebb of dawn’s light to appear.

Commentary: ‘Light Breaking into Many Colors as it Passes Through a Prism’ is an image of beauty and shape. A ‘Prism’ in optics is a piece of translucent glass or crystal that is used to form a spectrum of light that is separated according to colors. The light becomes separated because different wavelengths or frequencies are bent by different amounts as they enter the prism and again as they leave it. The shorter wavelengths, toward the blue or violet end of the spectrum, are refracted by the greatest amount; the longer wavelengths, towards the red end, are refracted the least.

Oracle: You may find a need to break your situation down into its simpler components in order to see the full picture. Even though there are complex things that need to be broken down to their elemental parts, it is not as difficult as it might seem. This is vital to the success of the situation, and will lead to a greater understanding of the relationship between the many parts. Just be careful not to overanalyze, thereby losing the joy that’s inherent. This Symbol can also indicate that you are of a curious nature, or perhaps just have a natural capacity for probing into complexities and learning about the makeup of an object, situation or a person. This can, on one hand, make for a constant fascination with the connectedness and the larger questions of life. However, be aware that this emphasis on pulling things apart, and continual analysis can lead to a sense of disappointment; you may discover that the various elements are somehow less exciting than the whole. This Symbol is encouraging you to take a single vision and develop it into its many possible individual streams. Color may indeed have a part to play, as can symbols and images. Hang a crystal in the window to attract the rays of the sun. This can attract some glorious energy your way.

All of our individual lives are composed of many facets and elements~ good and bad ~ that contribute to our path. Gather up your light and get ready to shine in your life in a new way.
